    I’m going through RCIA, and I’m actually coming upon my Baptism, Confession, and First Communion this Easter Vigil! By far and away it’s the best decision I’ve ever made to listen to the Holy Spirit and follow this path; and I truly feel more alive, and more free, and more joyful than I EVER did before coming to Jesus.

    As a man who was absolutely destroyed by sin, the constant thought of "you've already messed up so bad, why even bother trying to turn your life around? You have failed." The realization that if I am an in fact an eternal being, then I would have to live with the memory of my sins forever, and this made me long for absolute annihilation of my soul. There is no hope. It is absolute hell. I completely understood the story of Jesus healing the paralytic by saying he is forgiven. I have all of these ailments that seem to stand out, but God knows that I need forgiveness first and foremost. There is nothing more needed at this moment than Christ's forgiveness for my sins. It supersedes all needs when our sin is fully grasped. It was one of the most profoundly understood verses I have ever read in scripture. I would pay any price to be forgiven for the role my sins have played in staining this beautiful creation of the Lord.

    3. Fairness is a human concept. We confuse fairness with justice and mercy, but they are not the same.

    yeah recently ive been getting in my head that sometimes living out the Word requires sacrifice. not a fun lesson, and it has a kajillion possible iterations
    other thoughts ive had
    wait the only environment to raise children? what about orphans in monasteries that grow up to be brothers and priests?
    also yeah, in recent pop media the only decent portrayal of christianity if seen is the brother and sister in red dead redemption 2. catholicism was done well in Grand Theft Horses

    But christainity doesn't make sense to me. I've tried so many times to make sense of it, but I can't. There are too many contradictions. Also, who even wrote the bibles, I need to know if they were honest, if they were just in character, f they even knew jesus personally, for all I know, it could have been the enemy of Jesus who wrote or alter the truth. Also, for all those billions, trillions of human who were born before Jesus, what was their test? Why would we be given Jesus and not them, it seems unjust to me, personal opinion

    • @ST-ov8cm
      @ST-ov8cm 5 месяцев назад

      The Catechism of the Catholic Church states (paraphrasing) that God has placed the desire to know him and to be with him within every human soul. Those who authentically respond to this call are eligible for salvation even if, through no fault of their own, they do not know Jesus or the gospel.
      Taking this into account it seems to me that that desire to know and serve God has spawned many religions made from man who are trying to know and understand God. In this regard, all religions are a good. However, God solved the problem (of knowing him) for us in the fact that he humbled himself to pierce the fabric of creation and take on human flesh himself. He brought religion (man’s attempt to know and to serve him) to us so that we no longer have to guess at it.

    What this guy is saying is objectively not true, very few children are exclusively raised with "one man and one woman", most kids have grandparents, uncles, aunties, and babysitters as adults responsible for them for a large part of their childhoods.
    Also, there are plenty of kids who have been raised with gay parents to adulthood, and they're fine. They had two loving parents of the same sex, and some people even only had one single parent and turned out fine as adults. Regardless of what is the "best" way, it certainly isn't the only way for a lot of people.
    How can someone claim that he has the only truth and then say things that are either opinions, or objectively false?

      “Regardless of what is the ‘best’ way...” Does this imply that you concede that in general kids are best served when they are raised by their own mothers and fathers? If you grant that, then I don’t see how you could possibly disagree with advancing policies that encourage this dynamic.
      You can say that single parent families have no different result than two parent families, but that simply betrays an unfamiliarity with the reams and reams of evidence to the contrary. You can say that new born babies don’t need their moms, and are just as well served by two men, but outside the context of a convo on “gay marriage,” no one would ever think that. All of our best infant care advice involves “golden hour” snuggle time with mom, breast feeding, maternal nurture - I’m assuming you do not have children.

      God offers grace to all. However if a person lives a life of active rejection of God then why would they want to spend eternity in his presence? Also why would a just and loving and merciful God force that upon a soul?
      The rejection of grace is the decision of the person not God
