How so?
Name a way in which he could be correct on this topic, and he is correct.
You don’t know that. Humble yourself and do not assume the opinion or truth of the creator.

Bishop Barron said it best, “the Catholic faith is not a faith that says we’re right and you’re wrong, but that we have the fullness of truth instead of parts of truth”.
He also mentions, the Jewish faith only accepts people within their bloodline, Muslims often authoritatively converted, but the Catholic faith accepts all from all walks of life.
The jews only except their bloodline? Thanks for showing us agin how catholics just make it all up. Your all idol worshipping pagans
The Orthodox Church says the same: the fullness of faith and the way of being are found within the one true Church of Orthodoxy. Christianity without "theosis" is arbitrary, which I believe Orthodoxy articulates and acts out more fully.

Romans 3:23-25 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, [24] and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, [25] whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.
Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Faith produces good works but good works play no part in obtaining or keeping salvation

The only reason I am Catholic (a Traditional one) is b/c I went down the rabbit hole of objective reality via reason, logic, historical fact etc. It was the writings of the Early Church, the Apostolic and Early Church Fathers, that showed me Catholicism is the one true faith. Wait. Did Graham say he was a Scientologist?
Was he being serious?
yes actually
it makes so much sense now that the dude is a scientologist.
What he focuses on and worships, totally makes sense with his schtick.
Scriptures, history, logic and reason is all he had to say.
Scriptures? Like the ones endorsing rosaries, scapulars, Mary worship, holy water, forbidding priests to marry, confessionals, purgatory, infallible Pope, and all kinds of other made-up doctrine?
History? Really? The Catholic church, with one of the most abominable histories (second only to Nazi Germany, which it had alliance with) in mankind's existence, is justified by it??
As many outright false scriptures as the Catholic church has concocted, there are many that are indeed true. It is up to every Catholic, and indeed every one of us, to seek out that which is true, and reject, even expose, that which is not. "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling," God tells us. Trust in him alone, not people. When we stand before God in judgement, he couldn't care less what "religion" we affiliated with - only what we did with, for his Son.
@@johnboehmer6683 Michael Knowles is so wise yet so foolish. All religion is partially man made therefore imperfect. There is only ONE Church and Jesus Christ is the head of it.
In this interview, Michael was an evangelist, not an apologist
@@johnboehmer6683 All you've demonstrated is you don't actually know anything about the history of the Church or what it teaches. Sacramentals are efficacious holy objects that are meant to inspire and bring us closer to God. Catholics do not worship Mary. Priests cannot marry because their vocation is different. Confession to a priest is biblical, traditional, and real regardless of what you think. Purgatory is real. Papal infallibility is not what you think it means, and it's funny you talk down about "made-up doctrines" when you technically follow made-up doctrines as well, so you're a hypocrite.
The fact you say Catholic history is abominable only second to Nazi Germany just shows your level of ignorance.
People in the Church can be wrong, but that doesn't mean the nature and mission of the Church itself is false. Religion is an organized response to what God has revealed to us. I fail to see why someone like you would consider something unorganized / divided as superior to something organized / unified. "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" doesn't mean you can ultimately be your own church or your own pope. It means take what Christ did for us on the cross, make that your own, and offer it back up to him for your good and for all his Holy Church. Faith is not a purely private or subjective matter. And it is not by faith alone that we are saved, but grace alone. And that grace can be lost if we sin. You can't just say "I believe!" and yet do nothing for your brother. This is what the Church teaches, not whatever made-up filth you've imagined the Church in your head to be.

God is defined as a being than which none greater can be concived.
A being that necessarily exists is greater than one that does not necessarily exist.
If God exists only in the mind and not in reality, then a greater being could be imagined-one that necessarily exists.

The idea that one way is true while other ways are wrong, is the basic premise for our entire school system or any type of truth. It's the single worst argument against a belief. Many people can be wrong, while few people are right. That's usually how things work. And ultimately, the view that all religions are wrong, or all religions are true, simply becomes another truth-claim added to the bunch. Not somehow above the question of what is right or wrong. Stop forcing your beliefs down the throats of others.
I love how he asks the question of "what if your wife doesn't want to convert with you ?'. It comes back full circle to the choice of Catholicism. Because Catholicism actually even allows marriage between different religions. It does not recommend it, because it does note it's complicated and there are some things you have to do, like making an effort to raise the children catholic, but compared to several other religions, it's way more flexible in that aspect.
It's not Catholicism that allows it, the Bible does. If it were not so, your Catholic religion would be heretical.
Just become "born again" like the Bible talks about and forgrt "religion". The clear distinction in the Bible is those who know Jesus and those who don't.
The Bible does not allow for a Christian to marry a non-Christian. I think Catholics have it wrong if this is truly the case.
@oscardeza7030 people are saved by believing the gospel and being born again, NOT BY CONVERSION TO CATHOLICISM. IN FACT proves someone could just be religious to get married and not be born again by receiving Jesus and trusting his blood sacrifice in repentance. "UNLESS A MAN IS BORN AGAIN, HE WONT SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD" -JESUS SAID ALONG WITH OTHER EXCLUSIVE STATEMENTS. PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW JESUS ARE BORN AGAIN BY THE HOLY SPIRIT AND TRUTH. PEOPLE WHO CONVERT TO CATHOLICISM ADOPT A RELIGION AND RETAIN THEIR PRIDE, SIN, GUILT AND FLESHLY NATURE. LABELS DO NOTHING TO CONVERT ANYONE IN THEIR HEARTS AND MINDS. THEY JUST ADOPT A LABEL. JESUS WARNED "MANY WILL SAY TO ME LORD, LORD ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT BUT ILL SAY DEPART FROM ME YOU WORKERS OF LAWLESSNESS I NEVER KNEW YOU." - JESUS. A CHRISTIAN IS SOMEONE RESTORED TO RIGHT RELATIONSHIP TO JESUS WHOM HE KNOWS. YOUR PRIDE IS ABOUT WHAT YOU CHOOSE, KNOW, OR DECIDE. "GOD RESISTS THE PROUD BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE" " THE BOASTING OF WHAT YOU HAVE AND DO COMES FROM THE SINFUL NATURE" "THE PROUD ARE LIKE SMOKE IN GODS NOSTRILS" AS SCRIPTURE STATES"
@@TedMyrrh most people don't "convert" to Catholicism. We are baptized in the name of the father, son, and holy spirit. We just happened to be baptized in the church founded by Jesus. Later on, we confirm our faith through the sacrament of Confirmation.
Ephesians chp 4.There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. & “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.””
John 14:6-7
That body is Christianity, the denominations are just ways that body expresses itself.
I'm a big fan of Michael, but "I was an atheist for ten years" really just means, "I didn't care about religion until I was ten years old."
He implied the grace of God expands your intellect to keep searching, find reasonable evidence, and after and abundancy of it, you come to a logical conclusion, which prepares you to make an act of faith that reaches farther than the evidence you have. This is what Michael implied, that God was a guiding force because He has made Himself known and wants others to encounter by any of the means He set up. “Faith seeking Understanding”.
Protestant here, great stuff and great thoughts.
I am a catholic Christian. I have also been a Pentecostal Christian. When I was a Pentecostal I saw the power of God, the Holy Spirit; I can speak I tongues. I saw miracles being performed. I also learnt how to be a Bible reading Christian. I learnt about grace, mercy, deliverance, praying without ceasing, fasting. As a catholic I have also experienced miracles after praying the rosary; I have learnt about simplicity, carrying your cross, loving others. I have gone to catholic prayer mountains and I have seen anointing and miracles. My family is catholic. My Dad prays the rosary at least once a day. I have seen how he loves Jesus. Derek Prince says that the followers of Jesus know him. Regardless of which Christian domination, they know him. I think the most important thing is to be a follower of Jesus Christ .

It's funny the later question they asked about whether or not it would be a deal breaker if Michael's wife did not go along with the religion. I came to religion the same way he did. I came to the logical conclusion that there must be a creator, So did the creator create and just disappear or is it a personal creator? If it's a personal creator then which religion seems most logical? When I came to Christianity I said okay which denomination seems most logical? I became a devout protestant and well catechized. It wasn't until recently that I started to become challenged by Roman catholics that I decided I would learn more than the average catholic so that I could convert catholics to protestantism, And through all of the extensive and in depth studies and reading I did, I wound up backing myself into the front door of the Catholic Church. I had to admit I was wrong, And that catholicism is correct.
But back to my original point, Is my wife and I were not religious initially. She lets me have my religion, She lets me engage our children in it, But she wants no part of it. Is it has been difficult, I would be lying if I said differently. But it is possible.

The Catholic Church teaches that truths can be found in other religions. Obviously it’s the Catholic view that Catholicism is the fullness of truth and other religions, although there are truths to be found in them, are not fully true. So I think the question “which religion is true?” Misses the notion that you can land on a religion, still be wrong to an extent, but still be right to an extent.
Truth can be found elsewhere but the fullness of truth is only found in the Catholic Church.
It doesn’t teach that.
@@vincenzobarassi5549 yes it does. Here’s the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
The Church’s bond with non-Christian religions is in the first place the common origin and end of the human race:
All nations form but one community. This is so because all stem from the one stock which God created to people the entire earth, and also because all share a common destiny, namely God. His providence, evident goodness, and saving designs extend to all against the day when the elect are gathered together in the holy city … * The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as “a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life.”* In their religious behavior, however, men also display the limits and errors that disfigure the image of God in them:
Very often, deceived by the Evil One, men have become vain in their reasonings, and have exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and served the creature rather than the Creator. Or else, living and dying in this world without God, they are exposed to ultimate despair.* To reunite all his children, scattered and led astray by sin, the Father willed to call the whole of humanity together into his Son’s Church. The Church is the place where humanity must rediscover its unity and salvation. The Church is “the world reconciled.” She is that bark which “in the full sail of the Lord’s cross, by the breath of the Holy Spirit, navigates safely in this world.” According to another image dear to the Church Fathers, she is prefigured by Noah’s ark, which alone saves from the flood.*
“Outside the church, there is no salvation.”
How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers?* Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:
Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.* This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:
Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience-those too may achieve eternal salvation.* “Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men.”* - I Believe in the Holy Catholic Church, CCC 842-848

Here’s what Michael and these guys all get wrong, if maybe just in this clip.
Religion doesn’t need to explain science. It doesn’t need to explain that we exist or how we were created (evolution vs creation). It does need to explain why we are here . We’re here to exercise our agency and be tested in a mortal life. The purpose of that is so that we can learn to trust God and gain faith. Because we will be imperfect and make mistakes, a merciful and just god provided a savior; his son Jesus Christ. His atonement for our sin allows us as imperfect people the opportunity to make it through this life and return to our father in heaven after we die.
You can certainly find joy and happiness in this life without believing this. But the purpose of this life isn’t simply to be happy. It’s to be tested and given the opportunity to become like Him.
This is my beef with Catholics and how they talk about faith like this. I know it’s only a snip of the conversation but the guys asking questions kept digging and Michael never told them about being saved. He just made it seem like the act of going to church. Of trusting in Jesus and confessing him as Lord is trying to fly out of your mouth in this conversation idk what is. Great answers besides that just wish the gospel could’ve been highlighted a bit better.
Salvation is an ongoing process not a one time thing - that is why Catholics do not use the language "being saved" because it implies a one-time event. You cannot have God the Father without Church the Mother. Mother Church contains all the sacraments and graces needed to attain eternal life, namely in the sacrament of the Eucharist where we receive the very body and blood of Jesus Christ that gives eternal life and become one with Him. Jesus established the Church to bring salvation to the world through it. Therefore, outside the Church, there is no salvation.
Because a lot of Catholics think that practicing the catholic religion saves them. They have a false sense of security in their religion, almost like a cult. I was raised catholic. Once I got born again thru Jesus Christ, catholocism seemed like a step backwards.
@@MrSereeusexcellent explanation

It's so damn easy! Read the historical writings of the Apostolic Fathers! It is this type of ignorance among men that has led people to join other religions. No matter how messed up the Catholic Church is today, it's still the Church that was started under Christ.
@@DefendourMother simply not true roman catholicism came much later. It just falsely stole authority by setting up a heirarchy and forbidding common people from reading the scripture for themselves and requiring a human mediator. Scripture teaches access only through christ by grace through faith. Jesus taught us to watch out for false teachers and false Christ's by tests from scripture.
That's some revisionist history. Maybe visit a library
@@warrenbuyer Spoken like a woke liberal! Vague and nonsensical. Why make such a stupid comment if you have nothing specific to support it?
@DefendourMother with all do respect there is no direct connection to the roman catholic religion. The church were people in christ. There was no organized authority, rituals, traditions. Those evolved and became distortions from roman paganism and mystery religions. Biblical historical Christianity was simple faith in Christ
Christian doctrine from the Bible teaches christ as the one mediator between God and man Jesus christ. The pope and priests are not biblical concepts.
Needless to say, you’re doing the Lord’s work, Michael.

We all land roughly in the neighbourhood of the beliefs we grow around. What irony! We are driven by biases to know the ultimate perfect God. God is infinite and the ways to reach Him are infinite.
Orthodoxy is original Christianity church structure before great schism and Roman Catholicism, “creating” the pope
What? I don't think that's correct.
@@jericwhittaker4084 Catholics didn't create the pope, but how they viewed the pope is what changed. Catholics argue that the pope was basically the supreme authority that ruled over all. Orthodox says he was the "first among equals".
catholics are more authoritarian, quite structural and systematic, their architecture reflects this, making you feel small against the powerful authority. orthodox swing more to the opposite direction
I love Michael Knowels! Thank you for having him on your show! We need to study philosophy yo better reason!
Catholicism is the most logical and reasonable faith because it was started by Jesus and he is the logos of God.

The truth and fullness are found in the unchanged Orthodox Church.
The orthodox church is great, but they don't evangelize. They don't spread the word. They they in Asia and Africa spreading the word?

the catholic church is the one true church.
@@meggo329 Nice try. Sorry, but the Catholics departed in 1054 and changed the church forever. Papal Infallibility, the Filioque, the Immaculate Conception, Indulgences, Papal Supremacy, and other doctrinal developments, to include Vatican 1 & 2, just to name a few. Do these doctrines retain the completeness, integrity, and characteristic properties of Early Church doctrine? Certainly not. Rome's doctrines are corruptions which contradict early church teachings.
Graham asked about relationships near the end of the video. 1 Corinthians 7 answers the question.

Michael Knowles was real for this.
Martin Luther would disagree
Nobody cares what that hell-bound heretic of the Devil says.
So does the devil
But do you disagree?
Martin Luther, a sexual depraved drunk who couldn’t win a debate, refused to accept scripture that disagreed with his man made doctrine and typically ended with ad hominem attacks on those he debated. The entire Protestant reformation was nothing more than a power grab. It was all the kings of individual countries wanting to break ties between Catholicism aka the Church and that countries citizens.
Martin Luther was also a terrible theologian so that doesn’t hold any weight.
Michael Knowles says he's a Catholic because he has applied "logic and the rigours of reason" to the question of which is the "true" religion. Which is great, I'm so glad that he arrived at his conclusion purely through logic alone and that he ... oh, hang on, wait a second, it turns out that, um, he was born Catholic. What a coincidence!
Let's be honest, 90% of people's beliefs in religion are based on geography, where you were raised and what you were brought up with. Nothing to do with looking at the merits of each and deciding what's the most plausible
Spot on
Are you an atheist?
Even church leaders recognize this. Billy Graham said that only 15% of the people at his church are true followers of Christ.
Meaning that the 90% geographical, which is aligned with culture, that you mention should not be an excuse to write off a divine creator asking for worship.
@@nannertime That's exactly what it should do
Knowles literally said I was presented with arguments I couldn’t answer and therefore out of the sake of intellectual honesty dove further and came to the conclusion of Catholicism. If only we had open-mindedness like this around the country about any topic not just religion. We would without a doubt reclaim our undisputed throne as the best country on Earth.
First, Christ has redeemed the world. Christ has conquered the powers of sin and death. The Gospel is good news for a reason!
Second, Christ actually instituted a single, unified Church while he was on Earth in order to confer his salvific divine life to the rest of humanity. We call this Church, this body of humans, the Catholic (aka "Universal") Church today. The Church is Christ's bride, whom Christ has come to wed himself to on Earth, a wedding which will extend forever in Heaven.
The Bible begins with an earthly marriage between Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and ends with a supernatural marriage between Christ and His Church in Heaven.
Heaven is an wedding feast. And God wants to marry us, now and extending forever into eternity. To all who read this comment, I exhort you, for your own good, to join the Catholic Church, the eternal bride of Christ, instituted on the authority of Peter and his successors (Mt 16:18-19), which will last until the end of time.
God love you.
There is no denomination that is the true church. The true church, (the body of Christ), consists of inividuals who have made Jesus Christ their Lord and Saviour.
quote---- We call this Church, this body of humans, the Catholic (aka "Universal") Church today..
..NO SUCH church mentioned IN the BIBLE!!! NO BIBLE mentions such a church!!!!
Does the word "pope" or "papacy" ever appear in the Bible? Not once!!!!
Please give Bible chapter and verse where ANYONE ever prayed to Mary or was instructed to pray to her.
ISN'T IT INTERESTING that in the 27 books of the New Testament Scriptures, Mary is not once mentioned after the 6th book? There are 27 books in the divinely-inspired New Testament canon of Holy Scripture and Mary is not even mentioned in 21 of those books. Further, the supposed “first pope" (Peter) never mentioned Mary one time in the 8 chapters he penned which are at the end of the New Testament canon. Also, Peter never referred to himself as a “pope.” He was an apostle. A telling fact for certain! God never placed the emphasis on Mary that the roman religion does. Which will you serve? Jesus says that "No man can serve two masters." (Matthew 6:24)
There's no such thing as a "pope" in Christ's kingdom. Such a title or office appears nowhere in Scripture. Peter was a Jewish apostle of Jesus, not a pope of Rome. Peter wrote 8 chapters at the end of the New Testament canon and never mentioned that he was a "pope." Surely he would have known if he was the first "pope." Pure fiction. The office of the "pope" is the seat of antichrist. Run for your life.
The Bible was completed 200-300 yrs before the catholic church was formed. Jewish men wrote the Bible as the Holy Spirit inspired them - 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:20-21
The catholic church does not espouse the true Gospel of the grace of God given by CHRIST alone.
@zacharyeilers the one church are believers in christ not the roman catholic institution, heirarchy, or false teachings/traditions
Michael Knows is one of the most fascinating people with a platform right now. In 10 minutes he explained how desperately we need to believe in God.
Being part of a church doesn't save you - that's always been my problem with the Catholic Church (but not necessarily the average Catholic) ... Christ's sacrifice does. Whether you are a Catholic, Protestant, or Orthodox, that's what matters.
Catholic theology is fantastic, but it gets a bit whack when a Christian institution has that kind of money and power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

It sounds to me it needs much more money and power. Like it did in the 1000 year reign and much more in the future.
I'm Protestant instead of Catholic because the Bible doesn't say we should 1/ worship Mary 2/ Pray to dead saints and relatives 3/ Say that the Pope is infallible (even though Popes have contradicted each other and the Bible). I'm not saying there aren't any true Christians in the Catholic Church. however, the Catholic Church does teach some heretical doctrine.
