Oh my gosh I've been yearning and waiting and dying for Catholics to divulge the importance of the liturgy on a transcendental level and I'm in utter awe of the profundity of this conversation. When you said that the absence of liturgy is death, my heart erupted with the thought that, of course, because the essence of life is a constant giving and receiving. In the same way that the world would shrivel up and die if the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide were to cease, so the spiritual life is annihilated by a lack of reception of the Word of God and the subsequent lifting up of His praise. I half expected him to use this analogy. This really hit me in my core, thank you immensely for making this available to us.

Thanks for helping us all to draw really closer to the Holy Mass. Much of what I heard here seems to echo what Fr. Schmitz has been reading this week and last from the "Catechism in a Year" series. I liked your comment, Matthew, near the end of this podcast regarding the real meaning of "active participation" in the Mass as encouraged by the Vatican Council. Yes, it is about a more interior and spiritual participation and not just hand clapping and better music. Thanks again.

I left the church at 12 years old when the Latin Mass was in place. I do remember the reverence, I have no memory of the music. I returned right after the adoption of English. I remember a parish priest who brought me back into the faith, being Irish said to a group of us. Daily Mass should be like the Irish way no longer than 7 Minutes including homily. What he was trying to say how many words does it really take to convey the order of the Mass.

The Holy Spirit is the Fire, right?
This seems so deep inside of us. We are so focused on the exterior of everything. This is very philosophically deep and you have to think to listen to this.
I wonder who else in the world beside you guys can discuss this? The average person needs to know this, but they don’t know how to even get there! So now what?

    • @MatthewLeonard

You're right...most of the time we remain too shallow in our faith when there is an infinite ocean of God in which to dive. As far as "So now what?"...that's exactly why I founded ScienceOfSainthood.com.

If someone rejects the mass, are they not also rejecting the forgiveness that it provides? ‭Matthew 26:27-28 NRSV-CI‬ [27] Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; [28] for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
Drink from this cup of my blood for the forgiveness of sins!

Didn’t Christ redeem all mankind of their “sins” by instilling in us a “consciousness” that cleanses our “minds” of sin. This theology seems t trap us in our minds….isn’t simplicity and not intellectual theology the objective…

The goal is union with God, becoming more and more like Christ, participating in the divine nature through the reception of grace in the sacraments, and preserving grace, increasing grace, sharing grace. Question: Why did you put sins in quotes?

    • @mjfbb22
      @mjfbb22 Год назад +1

@Lee in quotes to connote universal sins of man, aka original sin, or man's tendency to sin, rather than individual sins.

Be it known: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit!
Hear me when I say, ye that are Catholic have been deceived and know not God. Ye worship Mary, praying to her; when God tells his to worship none other than him. It is idolatry.
Catholicism has its own Bible and teachings, which are blasphemous to the word of God: the Holy Bible. As ye follow the teachings of man and not God; ye hear the pope, but not Jesus, yet ye claim to be his disciples!
These are but a few things I named ye dwell within; there are many more. I tell you now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father!
There are *NO* sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you!
They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God...
Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask:
"Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen."
      Revelation 22:8-9 KJV
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
      Acts 2:38 KJV
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
      Luke 11:13 KJV
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
      John 14:21-24 KJV
21 *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.*
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.*
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.*
      3 John 1:11 KJV
11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. *He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.*
      1 John 3:6-10 KJV
6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.*
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.*
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.*
10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.
