  • Ian has been playing Project X 6.5 iron shafts and Project X 6.0 in his wedges, which are lighter but still stiff. He heard that Tiger and other pros use heavier and softer shafts in their wedges for more control. We tested that theory out today.
It is most important for wedges to get fit for bounce and shaft. These are your scoring clubs, they need to be reliable and best fit for you!

What another great video. Love the breakdown. I really like that you left the numbers up a little longer in this video. Getting the right shaft is really important. I like the heavier feel also. Great stuff as always.

I would have liked to see him try the KBS 610 shaft. It's low trajectory and low spin.

Interesting. I do play soft and lighter shafts in my wedges, and they go really high. May have to consider for my net wedge set something a little heavier. If I have iron shafts in stiff, 120 grams, what would be good options for a slightly heavier and softer wedge shaft? Does the Modus 115 have a softer profile than the modus stiff 120 iron shaft? Maybe I could go with R300?

I prefer a dynamic gold x100 8 iron shaft in my wedges compared to s400. Definitely more control and more spin around the green

Great info, thanks for sharing. Were you guys using an 8i or PW shaft in the Nippon Tour 125?

In this test, all lofts were 54 degrees.

@@windmillgolfcenter I'm sorry, I think you mis-read my question. I was asking about the shafts - are these "wedge" shafts, or were you doing the Tiger-stepping 8i shaft into the wedges?

Aren't S400 and Project X 6.0 similar in flex? I know weight is different though.

I believe you are right. Weight is different with s400 being heavier.

Never want to go lighter shaft weight in your wedges then in your irons. Softer flex maybe, but most best results are same weight or slightly heavier. Also may want to use 8 or 9 iron shaft the same as your irons and go up one in flex. That’s a common mod

Rory goes 6 0 in his wedges and 6.5 in his irons. Never say never.

@@whocares3986 you're talking 5 grams and the wedge heads are heavier so its heavier overall- try again
