QUESTION: Have you tried any do-it-yourself wasp killers? What did you try and how well did it work?
Thank you very much. I watched/ listened to your video here and employed the dish soap and water in my deer hunting spray bottle (I boil pine needles and make a dandy cover scent that I spray over my deer hunting clothes before heading out), and did battle with the many paper wasps that had suddenly moved in to the abundant small holes in the body of my sawmill. My son got stung yesterday, and the wasps began swarming today. But the mist spray setting is like a load of fine shot, and the wasps do not like it. A direct hit causes them to fall like a rock. Most die on the spit. Some that are lightly hit crawl around or unsteadily fly off, never to return. They don’t like it! I put about two tablespoons of dish soap in an 8 oz spray bottle of warm water. Gently mixed it and was ready for rounds 2, 3, 4. Big help, thank you

4:50 liquid dish soap in good spark bottle with good spray point.
Having a recent issue with wasps decided to search and this was the first that came up. Gonna give this a try! 😊

The main active ingredient that kills wasps and basically any insect, is Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). It is a surfactant and a foaming agent. Dish cleaning products use SLS to break down food oils and give a foaming action during the cleaning process.

Of course all of my spray bottles were filled with something else, And I was in a hurry, so I grabbed some Brillo spray dish soap that I don't even know why I have. It got them to scatter!

Baptized my wasps in this it didn’t work at all
I've never had problems with wasps. I'm here because we have a hive of them right by the front door. I go in and out of the house like ten times a day and they never bother me. I take time to look at them in the morning, and I check on them in the evening, and watch the hive grow and notice eggs hatching.
But my wife.... As soon as she opens the door, the small colony of 8-12 wasps immediately hover over her and begin to investigate. They are much less trusting of her.
The hive has grown to a size where I've received an ultimatum and I have to kill them. She doesn't want to hear that they're friendly or harmless anymore.
I'm extremely hesitant to attempt to kill them, because they've done nothing to provoke me to do so. And like I said, I'm in and out a lot... If I attack and fail, I'm sure I will destroy the coexistence. I'm sure I'll be seen as a threat after that.

Hope it goes well. I’d say a hive at the front door is too close for comfort.
Replace water for 10% or higher vinegar... you'll really notice a bigger difference
