One of the difficulties I see in the Church taking over the current "welfare" burden, is that the Church does not have the power to help out of poverty those who will not repent of the behaviors that got them into poverty to begin with, and the Apostle Paul's guidelines for how Church resources are to be wisely used to meet legitimate needs makes it clear that that was never the intention of Christian giving. We do not subsidize unrepentant sinful lifestyles that cause poverty at the expense of those who are doing right and struggling to provide just for their own families. And doing so prevents those resources from going to help those who actually need it and will use it well, as Paul pointed out. The problem is that our socialist thinking governments do not differentiate, as Christ's church does, between those who we are to provide resources to help get on their feet, and those who will always squander what God intends to go to the truly helpless

I think there are some that prep because they want to be in control of their liberty and freedom. Every ounce of their being is to not be beholden to a master. They don’t like bowing down to narcissists who want to rule over them. I also think this is why these same people don’t like the idea of God….worshiping a God, being controlled by a God, having to worship someone that has toyed with them for years like ants under a magnifying glass..if such a being actually exists. It brings resentment and anger especially if their life had been especially hard but we’re supposed to believe all the crap preached by the hypocrite child molestors at the podium…. They want to be in Control Of their own fate and don’t really like the idea of worshiping this creature for eternity that supposedly “loves”’ them. I goes against every fiber of their being….worshiping a jealous narcissist that needs a tribe of followers to stoke its ego. This is really really freaking weird. It goes against everything they tell US not to be. They have a hard time believing in anythjng because all the truths we thought were truths over years all end up being debunked, lies from those that control the money, wrote the Bible and decided which books were worthy making publicly accepted and have for years and years. I think the end times, if we are in it will reveal some things to these people that may change their mind since a lot of them are so jaded they don’t believe anything unless they witness it themselves. They’re sick of hearing all the preaching and witnessing the hypocrisy and evil from the church and so called Christian’s who are some of the 16:25 most close minded people to deal with. There is a time for extremes. The Cross of our Lord was the ultimate extreme, but He chose to become an 'extremist' to save the human race from spiritual death, which is a fate worse than physical death! We should be no less 'extremists' when it comes to doing all that is within our power to protect our loved ones, and all other human brothers and sisters, with whom we are able to help, assist, defend, through our wise and all-loving measures to be in a position to demonstrate such love to those encountering great and devastating assaults against their persons from countless ways and sources. Remember, God fully sanctions 'extremes' when such extremes are called for. I like what you've said here, but I do think that Matthew 24 is important when Jesus says that there will be rumors of wars, and famines in many nations, and Christians will be brought in front of the court and martyre, and then the end will come after. Clearly, we Christians have to endure through the beginning of the birthpains of the end of the age, and while getting right relationship with Christ is above all, it'd be foolish to not prepare for it as well in regards to food and water at the very least.

Great podcast Tim, I really enjoyed it! I was involved in bringing Trail Life to our church and it’s been a great resource to our organization. I was in BSA as a youth and had a great experience but it’s different now and I just couldn’t get involved with that. Finding Trail Life was definitely a blessing.
