Part 5: • Ali: Nelly Never Told ...
Part 7: • Ali on Not Being Paid ...
Part 1: • Ali on Gang Ties: I Wa...
    --------
In a shocking reveal, Ali stated he were primarily responsible for the writing of a diamond-selling album, yet received no official writing credit. Despite having written the majority of the work, his name does not appear on any singles or album credits. Ali expressed dismay at his lack of recognition, citing they had shared their lyrics freely out of loyalty to the group and the hope of "getting on." He refers to having written multiple verses and hooks, and even initially conceiving the ideas for songs. Looking back, Ali expresses regret for not claiming official credit at the time. Despite this, it appears he continued to work on and write music even after the album's meteoric success.

Don’t believe everything this guy is saying man. Here is part of the lie right here. He said he wrote everything except for the 2 songs right? Nelly shopped his demo that was done with the help of cuda love. Demo was 4 songs. All 4 songs made the first album. 2 of the songs feature the tics. The other 2 did not. The 2 songs weren’t written by Ali they were done with help of cuda. So that’s 2 songs right there he didn’t write. The song country grammar, Ali gave part of 2 bars that Nelly used in the song. He asked the tics to get on it. They didn’t like it, wanted no part of it. He finished the song without them , recorded it, dj played it in club later that night. Now he talking he wrote that song cause Nelly used 2 lines he said that you didn’t care about. Now the song blow up, u want to be apart of it. The label didn’t want to pay them to be on the album. The members threatened to pull their verses off of Nelly album. Nelly paid them out of his money. Universal paid for Nelly publishing from that crappy label Ali forced them to sign . He manipulated Nelly to sign it. Being they were gonna take Nelly off of gimme what you got. Ali never got his publishing from that crappy company. Soooo anything Ali did for verse on country grammar went to his publishing company. But him writing everything is a big lie.

It's usually 1 or 2 reasons the writers don't blow up. 1 they don't have the sauce, the flare, the swagger, the voice or the look or 2 the label doesn't put the money behind them like the bigger artist. Gotta remember this wasn't the golden age of social media where access to producers, engineers, djs, radio personalities and fans was at the touch of a finger. More often than not there was a major drop off in quality and promotion if the label wasn't pushing you and that alone would keep most writers on the shelf.

Nelly was the start but when one made it they all made it so that like he said he was good with 10 million out of 150 million because he was not greedy. That his brother and he didn't care about anything else. He wanted nelly to work out differences and bring the boys back but a lot of stuff happened and even between them two and that's why Ali is saying in hindsight if he knew things would go this way he would have looked out for himself a little more.

I was once signed to a major label and signed an artist contract, although my role in the group was primarily producing. By signing the artist contract, that would've allowed me to collect any money from royalties, personal appearances, live shows, etc. The unfortunate thing was trusting people that you actually thought had your best interests at heart. Needless to say, I saw no proceeds even after the company received over 5 million dollars. I lost the desire for the music business and truly believe if I didn't, I would either be dead or locked up for hurting somebody.

Listen back to the song Summer InThe City where Kujaun said “Now I sacrificed my life for publishing rights, hoping everything gon be alright.” Ali knows that he had everybody’s publishing in the beginning, but that shit backfired when Universal Records said that they wanted Nelly to be the front man for the group.
