I like the way you explain things.
Tip and trick: I have a 2012 sonata, and I don't put my sonata in drive during the summer, I go all the way down and shift the gears manually, I let the RPM's climb to 4000 and hold for a few seconds before shifting into 2nd, and repeat 4000 RPM's before going into 3rd. I don't shift past 3rd gear unless I get on the highway and it will keep your AC blowing cold. I've been doing this for 3 summers, and I've been searching for a real solution to this problem. Everyone on this feed is having the same problem. We should file another class action lawsuit against Hyundai. They really know how to suck money out of honest people.
Yea I have the same problems 2011. Let’s sue
This is probably a really really dumb question, but when you’re driving like that do you just treat it like a standard (minus the clutch) and move the shifter to change gears? I have this fear that just gears on an automatic will ruin it lol.
See my entry above. There's another guy that I checked out for this problem on RUclips a few years ago, and he cut a wire that goes across your dashboard. Maybe that would fix it maybe not but check for that and see what you think I'm about ready to try that because I don't think that the problem is in my compressor and the like. Is anybody else ready for class action?
@@sharoneladavis2023 do you have the link for that vid? I'm sick and tired of this problem.
My 2012 Hyundai, Genesis 2012 , 4.6 , these Air conditions in these Korean car are not made for south Florida hot weather , its blow hot air ..once in a while might blow cold air for a hour then the fun is over , this is a problem that been coming in last few years . now it time to fix it .
Awesome video
great video
you right and Hyundai sonata AC compressor is weak mine is 2011 Sonata limited while driving is cold but as soon stop on the red light AC start getting little warm mean the compressor is going bad .
Thank you for this. It's pretty much what I suspected but this just confirms it.
Educated Grease Monkey, I got a 2013 Sonata 2.0T and wanted to know if the A/C shrader valve is the typical R134a core or JRA type? I got a leaky valve core and wanted to get the correct tool and part. Appreciate your help.
The ac control valve could also be the problem, they are sold sepertly and could save you money. The valve is located on the ac compressor it self.
I saw a post about that. about 50 bucks but you also have to exhaust and recharge the system. They say it's 99 percent of the problems.
thanks
I suspect this is the problem with mine.
I replaced, expansion valve compressor high pressure switch and office tube. This trash still blows hot after 20 or 30 min. I do notice when I disconnect the battery and connected after 5 min it resets and starts to cool. But only for another 30 min.
That is a clutchless compressor just because it’s turning doesn’t mean it’s engaged. The ECV has to be activated.
I was recently working on one of these things and yeah you're right these cars clutch system engagement is not like most other units.
What does the clutch do in these systems? I have a 2015 tucson and there's definitely a clutch (I can see it activate, plus I can turn it on and off with the ac relay). According to the wiring schematic (and visual confirmation) it does appear to also have an electric control valve.
What about checking the fuses and relays for the ac ?
What do you do with the recovered freon from the a/c system????? Is there a recycling center for this. Where????
How much do you charge for this? I’m also in South Florida looking for a mechanic. My ac started blowing hot after putting Freon in it.
If the expansion valve is trash it usually goes into vacuum on the gauge
Freon is not going into my AC pressure pipe but got clogged on the wrong pressure pipe. What is your recommended solution
since your in Miami? how much do you charge to change out a compressor? I'm in Miami too
i had this problem for about 2 months the ac would work but all of a sudden it would blow hot air they check the freon it was topped off so they told me to clean the part that looks like the radiator i did that it worked for about a minute but what i noticed was when i hosed that lil radiator part the ac worked fine until the engine got to high temperature the radiator was topped of with antifreeze didnt need adding also the fans were working so the only thing i suspected was the car was getting somewhat hot because the catalytic converter was clogged went to a shop they swapped it out with another one as soon as i drove off from the muffler shop i noticed the ac blowing cold air again before you start spending money on ac parts check for a clogged catalytic converter first mine had 144000 miles maybe your asking what does the converter have to do with the ac well if the cnverter is clogged its not passing the hot air towards the tail pipe and the engine gets hot if the radiator isnt cooling right the ac wont blow cold hope this helps it sho did to me
Will this work on a 2016 Sonata?
I have same car - my a/c takes forever to blow cold ...then once it blows cold - it blows warm again ...any answers??? Thanks
Did u replace it?? What kind of price tag job would that be?? My sonata failing also.
In the South Florida area, a job like this could cost you anywhere from $750- &1000. Depending on labor rates.
I did replace the compressor. Check out the video here.
ruclips.net/video/bG9dtZAVKTg/видео.html
You never said what you did to fix the sonata . You said could be 3 things then your on the gas an it's fix
Same problem on my wife's 2011 Sonata. Dammit Man those compressors are expensive.
I have same problems with my sonata 2013,any recommendations how I can fix,or any ideas what’s the problems ,thanks
The hose with the high side port is most likely leaking and it takes out the compressor.
I have a 2011 hyundai sonata limited, The AC blows hot air sometimes when the outside temp ~95F. it seems like the AC works intermittently. it seems like the compressor is just quitting sometimes. I checked the low side AC pipes and it is warm when the AC is not cooling. Do you think it is the compressor or anything electrical related?
this is exactly my situation same car, same year
Same problem on my 2011. Did you find the problem ?
I have the same problem with me 2012 sonata. The problem with this video is the compressor on this vehicle always turns. You can't judge it just by looking at it. I'm leaning towards a failing pressure switch which could cause it to run intermittently.
@@Iwillalwaysskipad my gfs doing the same its a 2011 limited can drive around for a hour and ac works maybe 3 or 4 times and hot rest the time
@@raysmitty5338 my 2011 does the same thing. So frustrating.
my AC works going down the rd. but not when sitting still. what is wrong.
Same here
Most likely your radiator fan not kicking on
Yeppers! Fan not kicking in when ac is running. Either engine kicks fan on or the air flow through radiator when driving.
Must be everybody Hyundai
32k ON IT. TODAY MY A/C WORKED REALLY COLD FOR ABOUT 40 MINS (LOCAL TRAFFIC STOP AND 50 MPH AT TIMES) UNTIL I GOT CLOSER TO HOME AND GOING ABOUT 20-30 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AIR COMING OUT WAS NOT COLD -ANYMORE BUT ROOM TEMP, NOT WARM. THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO. HOW CAN I TRUST I WILL NOT BE TOLD ITS THE COMPRESSOR OR CONDENSER ($$$$$) WHEN ITS SOMETHING MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE TO FIX?
Don't know if this is an old wives tale but I have been in the habit of turning off my air-con about 2 minutes from my destination with the fan running till it's blowing warm. My 2011 Sonata has 170k and air is still running pretty good here in Florida. Hope it helps.
never hered of that I don't see the reason why you would do this.the condensation from the evaperator will drain out and the system will equalize regardless if you turn it off going down the road or sitting still
When i drive around for sometime, it would cool. But now mine is staying warm after when I expect it to be cool. Is that a freon issue, you think? I think my compressor needs looked at cuz your demonstration is how mine is acting.
Same as mine, how did you latter get over it..I hope you get solution?
hello carlos i am watchen you from saudi aribia and we have hot summer maybe 50° or more and i have sonata 2011 i chenge evre thing the comprisor and air filter and thermostat and the radeter but stell just hot air when i stop
that ploblem i have it from 5 yaers without anser can you help me for slution !
I would love to try and help you. Email me educatedgreasemonkey@gmail.com. This way we can talk more about it.
Question, I have 2012 Sonata blows hot air! the freon is full and it still doesn't run I don't hear the compressor to be working. I checked the fuses as well and they seem to be fine any suggestions ?
Full doesn't mean its right. The freon has to be exact. If its overcharged, the sensor in the system won't let the a/c compressor turn on. Same thing if its to low.
By the way I've changed the compressor to an old sonata 2006, and works as charm
I had the same issue I replaced compressor with thermal expansion valve.....2 years it was running fine ....
Now again same.... I am totally disappointed with hyndai sonata ac
2012 Sonata Turbo, Same AC problem....live in humid Houston, Texas... when humidity is high and the temperature is high the air conditioning stops working after driving up to certain number of RPMs or about 20-30 minutes. It also shuts off at stop lights with change of RPMs at normal and natural speeds.. I do think that it is a class action suit time. I've been dealing with this for three years now.. good mechanics, and the results always come back okay. But it doesn't fix the problem.
Change out youre ac thermistor switch
So I live in hot Florida as well, my dashboard actually just cracked a couple months ago. I’ve been struggling to figure out my A/C issue, it only blows cool air when it’s raining or if it’s night. I’m also a woman who knows little to nothing about cars so watching this video really confused me and idk what to do, just tired of sweating in my car
Same girl. Same
@@user-hl8um7rx5tI ended up just getting a new car lol I couldn’t take it anymore 😩
Are you still a mechanic in miami, I’d love to connect.
hi there
thanks for the video
i have an issue with ac so the thing is
in summer when i opened the ac the cold air goes only from driver's vent and the passengers vent comes a hot air
i charged with gas it's back to normal then after 2 days its coming back again this issue
now we are in winter the driver's vent blowing hot air (switch to hot ) and the passenger's vent blowing cold air
whats is the problem ??
i live outside usa
my car is hyundai sonata 2011
Sounds like you have some stuck actuators inside the dash. It is so hard to diagnose it from a distance.
Mines cools whenever he wants
Same for me
Hi Carlos love your videos. do yoy think once you repair the ac concern you can put a thermometer so we can actually see the temperature. thank you very muc.
But of course grandson. Anything for you.
You gave no answer here if you replacing everything you never figured out what exactly was the problem
The A/C in my Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 was blowing hot so I recharged the system. During the recharge the compressor kicked on and the A/C started blowing cold. But I noticed a light continuous smoking coming out of the grill area where the charging ports are located. The car blew cold the rest of the day in 92 degree weather but the next day it only blew hot again. What is going on with it?
your condenser probably has pin hole/leak
@@frankyv5999 and how much does that cost? That is what my 2012 Hyundai Tucson is doing?
Are you in a hurricane?
The headlights on this model are trash too. I replaced them with LED's and nothing.
Where can I get the same rims?
H
OW MUCH WOULD ALL THAT COST IF YOU GO TO A MECHANIC? i UNDERSTAND THAT THE COMPRESSOR IS HARD TO GET TO?
Its would cost you a good amount but this is not a job for every skill level. Evacuating the A/C and Recharging needs to be done correctly in order for the system to cool.
Mine blows hot on drivers side a cold on passenger
umm wtf... I have a 2012 GLS and it is NOT push to start, nor does it have a big ass display. I feel scammed ): is this a different version? Like the limited or something?
We have an 11 limited and it has this dash with maybe an updated interface or something
Me too!!!!!! Lol
He doesn't mention to CHECK YOUR A/C FUSE FIRST. You could end up spending a lot of money replacing a compressor when it could have been your air conditioning fuse. A couple of bucks vs. nearly a thousand to fix. Cool video though.
In this case the compressor was actually working at times( you could tell by the pressures changing when he revved it up to higher rpm). Now, Carlos forgot to mentioned that these compressor are not the conventional ones with a clutch that cycles on and off as the cooling is required. These compressor are constantly spinning but have a swash plate inside that is controlled by a pressure valve. So, the fact that it wasn't working properly could have been different factors not limited to the compressor itself.
So many videos don’t mention that a lot of cars have variable compressor s and those are always spinning. That is my case, so diagnosis is a bit more tricky. Also the ECU or computer has a lot to do with the AC function and many communication problems can happen there. Wish there were more people diagnosing Variables compressor systems externally controlled.
I have same issues with my sonata 2012.
Tewodros Tekle me too 2011
Low 20-40
High 150-200 max
If higher then expansion valve blocked by ice( moisture in sys)
Bad diag, that compressor has no clutch... Problem is the ECV, a bad expansion valve or compressor would show you on gauges.
It DOES have a clutch of the conventional type....(Not cycled by the Evaporator sensor as in most cars.)
but the discharge, as you so rightly say, is controlled by the ECV valve on the compressor.
my red knob broke off my AC tester from Harbor Freight as well. UGH
Awww man... When I did my search, I was hoping to find how to properly charge the freon in my 2011 Sonata 2.0T, thinking a recharge would do the trick. What do I find instead? A whole bunch of other Hyundai owners going through yet another frustrating issue with their Sonatas. Smh. I'm so f**kin' tired of Hyundai by now... It's hot as ballz, and I'm having the same problems with my AC... intermittent cooling for weeks, now I get up to go to work this morning and have NO AC at all. I'm not even gonna finish watching this video as, judging by the comments, it offers no solution. Thanks for trying, though.
same here man, the engine failed TWICE and they had to replace at no charge, and now the AC in my 2012 sonata is blowing hot ass air, ive checked the compressor, checked for leaks, and everything else, i'm sick of this car but my wife loves that damn car so i have to deal this the repairs
Same issue here with my 2011 hyundia sonata I see this is a very common issue with sonatas smh 🤦🏿♂️
Buy the compressor of the sonata 2006 and install it, I've done it already and works as charm
@@AdelHaiba78 plug e play install? can u point me with the correct part?
@@JoseRivera-cd8xb Yes Plug and Play, I don't remember the part number, but it is the part which works with 2006, but I advice you to change the condenser for the new compressor
@@AdelHaiba78 tnkxx for the info... i was a bit unsure cause saw some diferent part pictures for same year 2006
@@JoseRivera-cd8xb you welcome, I've changed it 2 years after I bought the car, and it works till now, without any problems, buy the original one not the after market part.
How the heck do you expect us to hear anything your're saying with all that super loud background engine noise!
Why don't you buy a German car or a Japanese car?
It's strange…
Sorry, those wheels are hideous. Why do people waste money on that crap??????????????????????????????????????
