Have had vertigo several times . For the last 3 to 4 years I sleep on a lazy-boy recliner.....with my head elevated and with a u-shaped neck pillow like is in kids car seats.....love and prayers for you
So sorry to hear that. Yes it's very challenging to focus on your every move to stay balaced. Get fatigued easily. Hope your better and it passes soon. 🥰
I think the obelisks would look great there! And, thank you for a a rarely covered topic. Whether a garden is large or small, most of us can relate to a narrow area-a pathway, a utility area, etc. So helpful!
I like the idea of a trellis. It will have a smaller footprint and leave more room for perennials. Nice to see you back, look forward to seeing this bed develop.
Both would be beautiful, but I love the idea of an Obelisk. They are decorative and add wonderful height to a garden space. So glad to hear you are feeling so much better!
enjoyed all your choices and explanations. I would put a trellis in because the shape of the obelisk would compete with the cylindrical foundation plants, whereas the trellis would disappear in the background and show more of the flowering vine
So excited when you have a new video!! I vote obelisk..but concerned with the competition with that awesome birdbath!! Further thought makes me choose trellis...typical woman..changing my mind😀 Thank you..glad you're felling better.❤
Hi, I vote for trellis. Laura of Garden Answer choose 3 trellises from gardeners supply for clematis, that seem ideal for being able to remove for painting. They are lovely year-round. With the pencil holly you have tall obelisk shapes so trellis would echo without duplicating the vertical design. Love your channel! You have a lovely delivery, glad you are well again.
I need that birdbath. Great info; I need to replant a narrow space and I now have some evergreen options! Sorry about your vertigo; I will get it if I spend too much time on my hands and knees gardening. So I now I set an alarm on my phone to remind me to get up every 15 minutes and also quit after an hour. Glad you have recovered from the vaccine.
i have a forever goldie.. the tag said it would get 5 feet wide, and mine after a few years is pretty much 3 feet wide and maybe 5 feet tall.. i give it a wink and nod when i look out of the bedroom window at it.. pretty
I vote for the trellis! Looking at the pictures of the full frame picture, I think it would keep the plant closer to the wall giving the other plants more of their own space and be able to appreciate their beauty also!
Happy to see you back and mostly recovered. I have found that trellises with plants make a mess on walls and are a hiding place for slugs, so definitely would suggest an obelisk. Those were lovely ones in your video.
Glad you are doing better. I had modern but, only sick day 2 of 2nd shot. Fever, headache... woke up the next day and felt great. I was lucky, I hear. Loved the video. Thanks so much with love, hugs, prayers.
I have exactly the same piece of artwork you hung on the side of your house. I'd thought of doing the same thing but for now it's above the fireplace in my living room.
Happy to to know you're doing better. I vote for the trellis, because the plant looks like it grows rather large. It will give some beautiful height interests.
The potato vine is a very vigorous vine. It will quickly outgrow the obelisk. You have a long wall which will be quickly covered by the solanum. I think trellis is the way to go. All the best.
Everything is looking really nice you pick some beautiful plants thank you for letting us see what is working for you really appreciate it hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy
Love the bird bath! Your project is coming together nicely. I would go with a trellis for the vine. From the pictures you showed, it gets much taller than an obelisk and you want to get the most show out of the plant. If it were a small vine, I would use the obelisk.
A much needed video! I think a trellis would hi-light that plant much better. You’d have more control on the direction of its growth - more width and height rather than a big clump. It looks quite prolific in the pictures! Also, another decorative piece could compete with focusing on the fountain and artwork.
I am a new watcher as of today. The Obelisk would be a good choice for the first year, live with it and decide after that. Enjoyed. Nicole of Menlo Park Calif.
How horrible about the vertigo, and worse that I have to find out that this is a symptom on a gardening channel. I hope you make a full recovery. I would go with the obelisk, just because you might want to change it later. I had a wall that I was trying to cover with climbing roses and trellised them all but it wasn't happening fast enough or abundant enough so I decided to move them. I now just have a line of arborvitae and junipers there and like the look so much better.
I was thinking of you today, and so happy you are doing better! Sorry you had an adverse reaction to the Moderna vaccination ! Thank you for the update! Hugs!🥰🇨🇦London
The heat wave was brutal. I hope everything is ok. Well over 110 F. Love the topic. I would like to see an obelisk but I am sure the trellis would be awesome as well.
Oh no! For some reason I haven't been getting notifications for your channel. I'm really sorry to hear you had such a bad reaction to Moderna but so glad to hear you're mostly over it. I'm sure it was scary. I received Moderna also and was sick about a week after the second one. I'm so happy you're back. Btw, Sky Pencils are awesome and LOVE the bird bath! Edit: I like the trellis idea. I understand there's some type anchor you put in the wall that allows you to take down the trellis when needed but also re-mount it when necessary. Your hardware store should be able to help you.
So glad to hear things are getting better at the nursery to thank you so much for a great video and you are so good at explaining everything really enjoyed it
Thank you for doing a topic on narrow spaces. I have the same size area as yours and have let it overgrown with weeds for the last 10 years. Now I'm transforming it into a real garden and have no idea where to start! I hope I can find Sky Pencil Japanese Holly at my local nursery. I love how it can be used for privacy once it matures to full size.
Looks great! Glad you are feeling better! I love your bird bath! I vote Obelisk! I love the way they look, they bring a touch of elegance and structure to the garden! Either way it will be beautiful! Take care good to hear from you! 💗
Originally I wanted to plant a tight row of the arborvitaes for fence line privacy, unfortunately the local nursery in Sequim suggested not to use due to deer. We do have many black tail deer passing our property year round even in the winter, and these plants become deer food. I planted several escallonia shrubs and they did better with deer but they seem not to like the windy area of Juan de Fuca bay and dry condition. So the growth is stunted a bit. I love the to try that Chilean potato vine if I could find it here, unless it is also would have trouble in windy conditions.
Sorry you had such a hard time with the Moderna vaccine. I had 3 month case of vertigo 14 years and it was very debilitating. I hope you will be at full strength very soon. Glad to see you’re up to planting. Probably trellises would be good. That vine looked vigorous and beautiful in the photos you showed.
Our foundation beds are only 2 feet wide with a narrow sidewalk around the whole house making it hard to find plants that don't grow over the sidewalk. Our end wall with just one window only gets morning sun so that makes it even harder to find something to work. Our back yard wall has several windows that I don't want to block but is full sun. It's been my biggest landscaping challenge for the 25 years we've lived here! Enjoyed this video and looking forward to seeing the perennials you add.
👋 hello! Missed ya... good to see ya! I’m sure spring/summer is very busy. Take care, we’re in zone 9 HTX, so very hot 🥵 I planted vinca, penta and lantana ♥️
Try making the wall trellis with a rollable metal fencing coated with green plastic safe for plants. If you stake it in a few places it should be easy to roll/bend into place. Also, happy that you have recovered from your second shot. My second shot is still to come in July.
Beautiful choices and nice explanation. I would lean toward using trellis for the Chilean potatoe vine. That is a very big blank wall snd it will break up the void. IMHO.
I think obelisks would look good and much easier to maintain, I love to see towers with cascades of blooms. I would love that plant in my garden but not enough hours of sunshine to keep it happy in my corner of England. So glad you are recovering well, love your videos. 🌸🌼🌻
Lovely new start and great plant ideas . Your birdbath is the cutest . I like a trellis -in my mind it’s sturdier and I have never used the obelisk . Either would be beautiful. Glad your feeling better.
Glad to hear you are feeling so much better Debbie. Must have been hard trying to do anything with vertigo. I vote for Trellis because your plant can spread and roam width wise. With the Obelisk, it can only grown to its width and a bit more. I like the Obelisk get much, but not for this job in my humble opinion. Love from England : ) : )
I would do both - you have the space for both a trellis (or two) and an obelisk. Had my second Moderna shot on June 15, no problems so far, fingers crossed.
So glad you are feeling better. Glad you were able to get started on your side garden. Heat in Portland OR off and on, (99+) but horrible. Obelisk for sure, add height and structure.
I'm so happy to hear that you are healing from your side effects. I also had Moderna and suffered side effects for a few months. On the obelisk vs trellis. Obelisk hands down. Especially the classy and sleek examples you showed. I rarely see landscape influencers using a trellis in perennial beds anymore unless they need a large wall cover for extensive climbing roses or climbing hydrangea.
Love your plant choices. Anxious as well to see it completed. I'm partial to trellis, would like to see your technique for how to, when you need to paint. But those towers would def give you more height for such a tall scaled wall. Bird bath is SO COOL! AWFUL 😭 you don't ship out of state.
If you want width - the trellis, if not the obelisk. Thanks for the video. I have a wall to cover one day under the garage eves, so looking forward to seeing "the trick" for removal.
I also feel the same way I have a small RUclips channel up here do you but everyone has been super kind to me ever since I’ve been doing this for the last seven years I can’t ask for any nicer friends I have made on RUclips very loving and supportive at all times and even when I’m not doing a great job they always cheering me on to keep working on my channel
I LOVE the Sun birdbath you have! How would I go about getting one from your store? I do love all the ideas you give to us. They come in so handy! I look forward to your next video. Thanks so much and God bless.
Thank you very much you’re feels better welcome back thanks for sharing your beautiful garden. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
I vote for the trellis. Beautiful vine & plenty of vertical space for it. 💜Love that birdbath.💥
So glad you are better. Love your show!
So glad you are feeling better !
I vote for trellises!
So hard to find plants that don't grow huge. Small gardens are more and more common now. TY
Trellis..so glad to see you out and about. Glad our feeling better.
Have had vertigo several times . For the last 3 to 4 years I sleep on a lazy-boy recliner.....with my head elevated and with a u-shaped neck pillow like is in kids car seats.....love and prayers for you

Trellis glad you're doing better.
Both would be beautiful, but I love the idea of an Obelisk. They are decorative and add wonderful height to a garden space. So glad to hear you are feeling so much better!
I think that a trellis would be better because I think an obelisk would detract from that beautiful and unique bird bath.
I vote for
Obelisk. I love them. Your garden is lovely.
Hi 👋🏼 I'm new as of today. I'm happy you're feeling better. I'm a gardner I'm thrilled to be a part of your channel.
Check every day for videos...enjoy them. Feel better. Hope to see more.
enjoyed all your choices and explanations. I would put a trellis in because the shape of the obelisk would compete with the cylindrical foundation plants, whereas the trellis would disappear in the background and show more of the flowering vine
Looks splendid . I vote trellis for longevity and stability . I am so happy you’re on the mend . Sending you garden love 💕🌞
Glad your doing better. I think the trellis would be beautiful
Anything you create for vine will be great!
I vote for trellises! I like obelisks but I think in a narrow garden the trellises would be more appealing.
So excited when you have a new video!! I vote obelisk..but concerned with the competition with that awesome birdbath!! Further thought makes me choose trellis...typical woman..changing my mind😀 Thank you..glad you're felling better.❤

I vote obelisk! But both would be charming with that vine flowering on it. Best of luck
Good news …your feeling better!!!
I like the idea of an obelisk….goes with the theme of tall and narrow ☺️
Glad to hear you are feeling much better
The birdbath is cute I would go with the obelisk
I love both options for the vine but my vote is for a trellis!

Totally agree
Love the bird bath 💕
Obelisk is my vote :)
As soon as I clicked on your link I noticed how well you looked. I have a narrow bed so thanks for the tips. Here in England we have rain rain rain.
Yes, she really looks stunning and healthy. I was wondering if that’s her best color, the pale blue.
Glad you are doing better. I had modern but, only sick day 2 of 2nd shot. Fever, headache... woke up the next day and felt great. I was lucky, I hear. Loved the video. Thanks so much with love, hugs, prayers.
I would love to see a trellis going in that space. Really pretty with a blooming vine.
Glad to hear you’re doing better. I vote for the obelisk for more 3D interest. Stay well!
Glad you feel better! Must have been difficult when you have so much to do!
I have exactly the same piece of artwork you hung on the side of your house. I'd thought of doing the same thing but for now it's above the fireplace in my living room.
That birdbath is cool!
I'm for an obelisk....everything looks lovely.
Loved your birdbath he was super cute cool love the face of the moon on him
Happy to to know you're doing better. I vote for the trellis, because the plant looks like it grows rather large. It will give some beautiful height interests.
Been missing you but I must say you are looking good with good color too.
Glad you are feeling better.

I’m so glad you are back👏👏👏
Glad you’re doing better!! 🥰
I’d love to see how to do a trellis against a house. Also, would love to see a tour of your gardens!
Yess can we get a garden tour soon? 😊

The escalonia looks like a little azalea bush!
Glad to hear that you are feeling better, welcome back! Great suggestions for the garden!
I was thinking of you today, and so happy you are doing better! Sorry you had an adverse reaction to the Moderna vaccination ! Thank you for the update! Hugs!🥰🇨🇦London
Wishing you get well soon!

We survived! A few crispy critters but they will bounce back.
Try both, the fuller the better, more vines!

Being selfish I hope you pick a wall trellis, would love to learn how to do one being a visual learner. Love your channel. Thanks
Lovely border. Love love love the bird bath.
Hi happy to hear your feeling better I vote for a trellis it’s going to be pretty would that vine do well in zone 9 B thank you🌸
