I live alone also. You are such a gardening inspiration to me. When I have a larger project that needs to be done and I’m hesitant to tackle it myself, I think of what you have accomplished in your yard. I tackle my project and it gets done. Thank you.
Debbie, I absolutely adore the island you created just behind you as you discussed the heat tolerant perennials. That gorgeous cobalt blue container with the petunias and those whimsical bunnies captured my attention. Love it 💜
I think it’s a great idea for you to mention the name again at the last. We might not have been impressed at the first mention, so didn’t write it down, but near the end you mention a quality we’ve been looking for , but we don’t have the name! Thank you in advance , from an 88 year old gardener, who’s been gardening for 81 years, and loves your commentary!
I Absolutely love Russian Sage its a must have for me! My Russia Sage is in full bloom right now, i have a circle garden in my front yard and i have it planted in a thick ring. In the middle of the ring i plant Mexican Sun Flower which have bright orange blooms. I added a drift of it this year in my landscape around the front of the house. In front of the drift is another drift of Bishop of Oxford Dahlias, dark foliage with bright coral orange flowers i think they look great together. I repeat alot of blue, purple and orange in the landscape. My border is Red orange Marigolds and blue Victoria Salvia. Then the next layer is Lambs ear and the compact dark purple Aster. So i will have color till November! Anywayy i could talk flowers all day long lol Hope your having a great summer! Take care 💚
I love the new pots!! For a single woman on her own you do a great job!! I’ve been a single woman on my own and some things are really tough!! Being taller and stronger would’ve been a big help!!🤣 But anyway, you make us proud!!!
Keep at it! You can do anything if you think creatively! Don't be afraid to ask for help! I have some man friends that are happy to help if I feed them. Lol
Hi Debbie, I love the way you do all of your garden setups. I really like the idea of three. It just looks so much better that way. Thanks for all your wonderful ideas! I always look forward to your next video. God bless.
You do such a great job describing the individual flowers! Couldn’t tell you how many flowers I have in my beds that I first saw in your videos! And I also love agastache!! Thanks for sharing and teaching! 😊
Great video Debbie. Loved the solution to your side yard. Looks very smart. Also think you should do a video of the bed behind you, it looks wonderful. Thank you for sharing. I live in England but I love your Channel : ) : )
Love the reveal. Looks very classy, neat. I am such a messy gardener but I adore your garden, it always looks so crisp and clean. Here in zone 9b, I truly appreciate sages for their hardiness, color, and the gophers and deer so far leave them alone. They draw in hummingbirds all day long. I collected seed from them last year and now have my first baby sage plant, hot lips. Thank you for addressing heat loving plants.
Debbie THANK YOU for introducing us to these new flowers. I must get the Hummingbird mint as I Love hummingbirds and butterflies. Your Trellis looks great and such a great Idea to put those eye hooks in the wall. Thank you for sharing this with us. So until next time God Bless you and have a Blessed day and Stay Safe my dear Friend. 💚😊💚😊💚😊💚
It looks just wonderful!! Just now seeing this. I'm in west TN, and our heat is relentless. Watching your segment now regarding heat-tolerant perennials.
Your new border looks lovely Debbie, great idea for attaching the trellis. Wonderful information about plants as usual. Your necklace is lovely, glistening in the sunshine 🥰
The blue spruce look great when they're young but end up being a pain due to disease, I've had to remove 3 at $400. ea, better off with cedars. You have an enviable garden. Thanks for sharing.
I just love these teaching videos, I learn so much. I think of you every time I set eyes on my Lingonberry, which I had never heard of. Keep these videos coming 💚
What a great idea for how to attach the trellis! I always worried about how I would paint if I had a trellis close to the wall. Great perennial suggestions too. I'm looking for perennials that do well in full sun in an area that is very dry in summer but a little on the boggy side in the winter. I think a lot of us have this situation in the PNW and maybe other areas of the country too. Maybe a future video idea? Thanks!
I think it’s great that you put a trellis and obelisks in your narrow side bed. That bed should be quite pretty when the plants fill out and you add stepping stones. Those perennials were lovely! I have Russian sage planted with orange coneflowers. I love the look. Happy gardening!
I love your trellis and obelisks, not only functional but great looking accessories for the garden. I’m honestly getting into gardening, 14 years later since we bough the house haha.
Your garden behind you looks so pretty! Glad you are having some cooler weather. We are getting more and more rain. I have a self watering raised planter and I fear it’s staying too water logged. My green beans and cucumbers are not liking it and even my marigolds are getting spotty. Not sure what to do.
@@anitahadley2871 Got it! When you plant next time you can mound them above soil level to add extra drainage. It should help with the squash type plants. :)
The island bed behind you is charming. I wish the only bunnies in my garden were decorative! Yarrow is so beautiful and reliable. Are the newer hybrids invasive? I planted one yarrow years ago that ended up taking over the lawn.
I love your design with the trellis, obelisks and plantings. Great tip on how to attach the trellis too. I live in 8b, so these heat & drought tolerant selections would be perfect.
HI Debbie Question on the yarrow you mentioned that you can deadhead . I'm wondering if the sunny seduction yarrow can be deadheaded as well cause they were so tall until we got a heavy storm so I set up a triangle form to support them. So can I deadhead this beautiful yarrow? I love agastash I have that same one you mentioned in your video. Great pollinator. Your gardens are gorgeous. Thank you.
Awesomeness! Great job and it will fill in before you know it. I'm in Portland and I appreciate you having some shade....just full sun; don't have big trees yet, and the 100+ just about killed everything.
Hi. I came here looking for you. Is everything ok? I miss your friendly face and informative entertaining videos. I still have three abelia kaleidoscope in my front garden looking fabulous, thanks to you. I only learned of their existence a few years ago in one of your videos. They are one of the bedrocks of my garden. I hope you are well. Regards!
We are zone 7 ......100 in the shade today...My Russian sage hasn't grown in column.....so #1. Think I'll try your suggestion on mounding it towards the back to let it drain more......even though it's been in sandy soil for approximately 5 years and also growing it in groups of 3, 5, 7 or more. Thank you
I just occurred to me that I would love to have you talk about southern plants that do well here in the PNW. Jim Putnam of Hortube (youtube) talks about a lot of plants that I think would do well here, but I'm not sure. Wonder if you two could work together?
Your side yard looks great!!! Love how you've attached the trellis. I have an area at the front of my house I'd like to add a trellis to, but will be painting the house, hopefully next year.Your fix will work great for me as well!!!
I know you recommend mulching to conserve water in the garden. I see you use bark as mulch. I've been told that bark mulch 'robs' nutrients (nitrogen) from the soil. Would you mind doing a talk on the various kinds of mulch available in the PNW and the pros & cons of each? Thanks you!
Love the trellis and side garden! The plant suggestions are great How do you keep yarrow from spreading everywhere? I had it and it spread everywhere, even 20 feet away in the middle of the grass. Thank you for sharing your ideas and beautiful garden.
Where did you get the plastic edging from? It's looks wonderful. Also, recently a friend of mine gifted me with a lavender packet from your shop (I think. At least she gave me your card with it. Lovely!)
HI Debbie Wondering A question on lupines I planted some seeds last year and they over wintered it bloomed and I transplanted it to another part of the garden and cut it back ,not doing well at all dug it up and put it in a pot to try and save it . Any ideas how to bring it it life again?

Try not to let it go to seed by deadheading the flowers. New hybrids won't re-seed as prolifically as the older varieties. :)
