to anyone who's trying this, (physical) value of colours is especially important for lineless art, as there's no linework to make the piece readable!! it makes your piece pop in the right places, adds to composition and such. make sure you have a good understanding of that before you try lineless artwork, but it's not compulsory to make good pieces (there's a lot of videos on colour value and colour theory on youtube if you want to understand it more though)
This is pretty close to my art process as well:D I started doing lineless when I began digital art without access to pressure sensitivity so lineless was easier for me to work with at the time, and I never really stopped using it as my main rendering method! It does get me lots of compliments lol
Dear kitsunderes I found your incredible channel by this short and I’m sure to not let go now, you are irreplaceable at what you do, never forget who’s loving you! (rhyme, and I mean us by that ;D)
it's so i can block out the full silhouette of what i'm drawing without distractions! i use red because it's a high visibility color, but you could use anything you want. i hope that helps!
When you fill in with final base color does that go in a different layer and also do you use reference on your sketch layer before outlining with red.😅 What does the red add to the skin tone?
for filling in final colors, i have everything on separate layers (hair, skin, etc) but they all started out as that red so i could see the silhouette of the figure without any sketch layer getting in the way visually. that bright red is attention grabbing so i use that, but you can use any color you want since it's just to see how the overall silhouette is looking! i just filled in each layer directly with the final colors when they were ready. the sketch layer was my guideline so i'd know where to outline in red + where to paint in any details after the final colors are filled in. i hope that helps! :D
i used procreate for this, but you could use any art application that has alpha locking/clipping masks (most do). i've heard good things about ibis paint x if you're looking for a free app!
for this i used an ipad pro 10.5 inch model and procreate! i use clip studio on the ipad sometimes too. at my dedicated art workstation in my office i use a wacom screen tablet and clip studio paint :)
