I'm very grateful that you've created this video. As someone who is new to Power BI and Fabric, I've always been eager to learn more. With this video, I now have the opportunity to learn everything in one go. Thank you very much!
Started Power BI the day it came out, started Fabric the day it came out. There’s a paradigm shift happening people are not aware of in Analytics! Great content! Let’s connect! ⏳
Great content Will, love your teaching style. It will great to go through all the topics listed and do the DP600 last in order to better prepare for it.
Just added the hour glass before, but this deserves a much more full comment. Thank you for this excellent resource. Will definitely check the skool site as well. As a Systems engineer, I don't have any issues with the Fabric resource side. But the rest is still dark magic until I can go through vid's like this and wrap my head around it. So thank you for the time and effort put in to this one.
Appreciate the longer comment, thanks for watching, I’m glad you found it useful! Data engineering is basically systems engineering so you’ll be right at home with most of this I’m sure (once you get your head around the terminologically/ concepts). Good luck!
Thank you very much Will for this content, I really appreciate your work, you can talk next time about the license change from power bi premium to fabric in 2025. thank you very much again.
This is great - even if it took me 2 weeks to get through. On careers - the last bit. Surely AI is pretty much going to make writing SQL and Python really easy. Especially SQL as the only challenge is to check the result is what you intended. Whether that makes it pointless to learn them, or just much easier to reach competence I am not sure (maybe both). Another pov is that yes I get it - Data Engineers earn more than PBI developers within IT. On the other hand I suspect Business managers who can develop their own PBI dashboards (or at least run their own analysis on it) pretty soon earn a lot more as Business managers. So I guess the PBI analyst can take his skills upstream to be an engineer or downstream into operational management.
Thanks for watching! Agreed, AI will have a big impact. Microsoft have announced a Fabric feature called 'AI Skills' which essentially allows you to ask a business question of your data, and it generates a SQL query and returns you the result. I think it's in Private Preview at the moment, but I think it could be really powerful. Why go through the bother of creating a Power BI report, if business users can get the answer to any question in 10 seconds? Obvs, it's very dependent on the AI working accurately, which we seem to be a little away from at the moment. Semantic modelling (not necessarily in Power BI) will be ever more important!
@@LearnMicrosoftFabric I wonder if the AI skills will be any better that what we have seen in Excel or Power BI. As someone who was a financial analyst 20 to 30 years ago, long before I picked up on Power BI, I find the AI tools so far have been quite useless. Great for someone who hasn't got a clue about what to ask. But just a distraction for those of us who know what we want to ask and what order we want to ask it. From a top manager pov you still need dashboards to steer the decisions of your middle managers. Create your KPIs, set targets (esp bonus targets), point your middle managers (and for example Sales teams) in the right direction and give them the information they need to make the right short term decisions. Having AI question which KPIs could be used is not helpful given the huge effort senior management make to restrict the ways middle managers are allowed to think. My direction is management to PBI (via being a Data instructor) to hopefully DP-600 and Power Platform - so swimming up stream. I can't help thinking that the code writing I am intimidated by now will become trivial by the time I get there (if I get there). Still 100% agree that Semantic Modelling will be extremely important.
I would say join Fabric Dojo :) skool.com/fabricdojo Or you can learn from ADF resources (there are a lot more resources, and most of it is transferrable to Fabric)
Hi eager to begin. There is a 3.5 hours video here but also a 9 video series that seems to cover the same chapters from a couple of months before. Which is best for a Power BI but no Fabric person like me? And is there any point in watching both?
@@LearnMicrosoftFabric In Capacity 1, I have some tables in my warehouse, I want to share that to with another business unit who is also under the same tenant but a part of different capacity. Thats what I was trying to ask :)
Enjoyed this series? Time to get hands-on with Fabric, join Fabric Dojo today! skool.com/fabricdojo/about

Super good lesson! Very good information and clear explanations. Working as Data engineer and new to Fabric! This helped alot!
Thank you so much for helping the community will, can you please make a short video on how to connect Tableau to Fabric?. Thanks in advance.
Great explanation. Thank you Will!

Some content about Data Activator would be nice
Thanks for watching, yes I’d like to cover data activator in the future 👍
I would love to see content on complex dynamic hierarchical Azure RLS. At least on what is possible and what pitfalls to avoid.

Excellent!
I suggest we put the slides into the school classroom; that would greatly help. Thanks.

Thank you for great content! Can we use Azure Purview for Data Quality Monitoring instead of DQ Monitoring Report in Lakehouse? Pros & Cons?
They recently introduced a data quality feature to Purviwe, haven't tested it yet

Is direct lake mode available for data warehouse semantic models as well or only for lake house semantic models ?
can be either Lakehouse or Data Warehouse 👍
Hi Will,
Do you have a document for this course in .pdf or .docx formats?
"Microsoft Fabric for Power BI developers - 3.5 HOUR FREE COURSE"
In the Skool community 👍 skool.com/microsoft-fabric
I am unsure whether you have any video on Data Mart that fits into Power BI / Fabric. Hope, hearing on this. Thanks.
Nothing on Data Marts no, it's a preview feature, and I don't think it will ever reach production. Fabric Data Warehouse is recommended path

Quick question, lets say there are 2 workspaces that are part of 2 different capacities under the same tenant, can they share data between each other?
Depends what you mean by 'share data', but generally yes, it's all still in 'OneLake' 👍
