Can you use something like DBT with fabric so we can query data in one language? Like I've never used T-SQL or Spark-SQL but know postgreSQL can't I just use that?
Also I'm a bit confused, it sounds like fabric is a suite of tools. Can you add other Azure tools onto it like putting it behind a VNET or some Azure ML products or ingest to OneLake via postgreSQL from a backend or dump and read a DuckDB table? Like PostgreSQL and DuckDB is everywhere right now. If any of this is possible a video would be appreciated.
You should also discuss fibric cost for small orgs < 50people. Like if I used fabric it would only be for the semantic layer allowing you to reuse models in PowerBI. I don't need half of the other features like KSQL, would I still pay for them to run 24/7 or are they sleeping in inactive containers. That's another thing can you put fabric in an Azure container or config it with Dapr or is that abstracted away? Like what happens if you do a SaaS analytics app with fabric and want to serve customer1's data to customer1 only and customer2's data to customer2 only, don't you have to deploy a new fabric instance for each customer? #fireemoji
More in 40 mins than I have seen in months of trying to work this out.
Finally someone speaking who has a brain bigger than Fabric and can see it as a whole.
Thanks for watching! Glad you found it useful 👍👍
Have been trying to understand the emergence of fabric over the last year and how it could benefit my users. What you have done in mins is better than all of the MS attempts to explain it. This shouldn't be a course but plastered on the fabric site. Well done for being so articulate
Lovely comment, thanks! Glad it helped clarify Fabric for you 🙌🙌
This is in all honesty the best Fabric introduction I've seen and I'm going to borrow the structure for my own presentation. ❤🔥 (Isn't this a fire emoji btw?)

Great presentation, Will! I came across your video because I started hearing about Power BI and Copilot, and someone suggested I learn more about Fabric as well. It sounds like a very interesting ecosystem. Have you found any other resources to refer to as Fabric's capability with CoPilot increases?
Hey there, thanks for watching! I haven't created any videos on Copilot in Fabric (yet!), but there's a fair amount of documentation available here for you to look through: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/get-started/copilot-fabric-overview
Great Video !
Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for the great inputs about MS Fabric , have a question , are there any AI powered products in fabric which would automatically discover data for us ?
Like if I need a KPI to be build then I explain the business logic to a tool/product , then the tool/product gives few suggestions as what columns from my database could be used to derive the KPI .
Hey there! Here's a couple of options for you to explore:
Copilot in Fabric: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/get-started/copilot-fabric-overview
Azure AI services in Fabric: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-science/ai-services/ai-services-overview
Great information presented very well! Thank you!!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the presentation!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Phenomenal video! This is really well done, very clear introduction. Can people hire you for an hour long consult to help decide if Fabric is a good fit for them? I'm interested
Thanks Bart - sure feel free to DM me LinkedIn
What is the option for extracting data files in csv format in Fabric and to use variables for the files? Currently I use Excel using Power Query (with the value.nativequery function so I can use folded SQL) with VBA. Being able to use VBA automation is kind of essential in what I create.
You can do that using Data Pipelines 👍 although I don’t think there’s any support for VBA in Fabric
