My fly line catches on everything. Most notably all the parts of my vest as well as twigs, weeds and most anything at my feet. It does get a little frustrating but on the bright side, I’m getting better. 😊
    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

i learned fly fishing well after learning the spin rod. Funny I swithed cuz I always saw fly fishermen catching more fish than me so I thought that was the reason. I caught plenty trout fly fishing now but I'm realizing its hard to compete with the spin rod. I'd say during peak season spin rods win but a skilled fly fisherman can out compete anyone. End of the day anything can happen on the water.

But, spinning and bait casting have problems too, it’s more difficult to get tangles out with monofilament than it is with fly line. Then there’s the backlashes, maintenance and mechanical problems with reels - not as bad with fly fishing reels (or at least doesn’t happen as often).

Oh for sure gear fishing has its moments too. I still remember my first backlash 30 years ago on my quantum baitcaster! Haha! I just handed to my dad and told em it was broke😆😆

You for sure scared them all. You went full Dostoevsky on them. Beginners enjoy your misery.
