Rewatching this & awesome video, there's a boat load of good & bad channels, some so called experts on tying & flyfishing in general, some of those you've mentioned are awesome to watch & even with 45+ years tying & fly fishing I still learn tricks,I love watching Kelly Gallup & Brian Wise simply because they show how to tie & use materials, some channels I've been recommend & watch 1 video felt like out of place or stupid or as you said come off arrogant,1 channel I recommend is the fly project so good straight forward simple tying & information, tight lines 🤙🇺🇸

Hey, reading some of the comments you're going to have to work a little harder if you want to get the number of nasties that cat from Huge gets. Remember, this is America and you, oh wait you're in Canada, ah go ahead and say what you want anyway. Enjoyed the video, wrote down all the info to decide for myself because that's what adults do rather than razz on someone. Thanks again.

Some of those channels I've heard of, and some I haven't. I subscribe to a variety of channels for different reasons. Some I've subscribed to just so I don't forget them and will later watch several other videos and decide if I still want to remain subscribed.

Fun fact. Jay is a local to me. He was taught by his father-in-law Carl Coleman who had Tom Rosenbauer working in his shop when he was just a kid.

I'm not a fly fisherman, but looking for lures to use/make to avoid using stupid soft plastics and polluting lakes with them. Certainly not looking to tie shelf queens, thought I love seeing them and can appreciate the artistry that goes into some of them.
For Dollar Store DIY type ideas, I found www.youtube.com/@Ivegotbugsflyfishing. He's American, but won't hold that against him. Good info and ideas for tying on the cheap, both nice, fancy looking and just get it done type flies.
Also, if you just want to chill and watch some stunningly shot, close in videos and ASMR, www.youtube.com/@shetiesflies. And nice change from looking at the chewed, hang-nailed, fungus ridden digits on a few of the channels! LOL!

@@wingnutbert9685 shetiesflies is pretty cool. Unfortunately don’t have the time to watch her stuff lately. If you’re in need of something to smash fish without plastics. Look at craft fur, phentex yarn(i have a video about that stuff- it’s at Michaels), and marabou. If you use that with some krystal flash(again i have video where to find that on the cheap too!) you have some deadly jigs. Use any jig heads you want, 1/8oz etc. It’s great for walleye&crappie. If you’re into jumbos it works great too!

@@greenhornflyhorn Thanks! Yes, I've been giving your vid's a look. Great info for DIY'ing on the cheap. Gonna do some chenille worms too, for Bass. I like that Phentex stuff. Looked nice and fluffy. You mentioned wanting the Olive color. I commented a link to an Etsy seller that had Olive listed. Hopefully you can grab some. Kinda stinks when you find a color like that and they stop making it. I guess there weren't a lot of knitted slippers being worn with Fatigues around the PMQ's or the Wardroom. LOL!!!

Thank you thank you thank you! I cant tell you how much I appreciate when I get to watch videos like this. Shows you’ve got a spine lol. Giving honest opinions on other creators. YT is a business and RUclipsrs are running a smaller business within the larger business. The biggest scam in the business model is YT calling things a “community” and creators not competing and holding each other accountable. It’s not a community. A community is group of people living in the same place. The second half is having a particular characteristic in common. The latter does not matter when making content. Who’s principled, who is being genuine, who’s being paid and most importantly who’s telling the truth. Channel numbers mean NOTHING to me. Consistency and transparency are what folks who watch a lot of YT care about. You and for better or worse Huge are at the top of my list after watching this video. I like TFO but if that’s the only gear I see you reviewing… something’s obviously up lol you just saved someone like me, months of time, sorting these creators out. And from what I’ve gathered you did a good job. Thank you again and keep up the good work
This video single handedly has me on your team 👍🏼

Great video.🤘🏻 I've been hung up on ethics in fishing these days. I can't wait for fall and winter. So many part-timers out right now, driving me up a wall. I'd like to hear your take on basic rules you go by when encountering other fishermen when wading. Or how to handle jackweeds that walk into your personal fishing space. I mean, I deal with it, usually by keeping my mouth shut and walking away. I just don't understand how some people operate. I'm always trying to get away from people. I just assume they don't want to see me either. Lolol. If I can hit you with a cast, you're too freakin close.

It’s a tough situation to be in and quite honestly it’s best to not say anything at all. Now!! That being said if the person looks confused or new, I will kindly educate them on etiquette but even then I just move on. Or I fish in bad weather when nobody is around. Rain and wind keeps away most anglers.

I've been tying flies for 55 years. I tie flies as a hobby to relax and learn new techniques. I also tie my own patterns to fish with.
There are good fly tying channels with tiers who are skilled. These people know how to design a fly suitable for specific applications, how it will fish, and how it will swim. They know fly fishing, materials and proper techniques. These channels are worthwhile watching even if the flies are designed for a different environment or species than you fish for because the content is valid and you can learn from them. I subscribe to those channels.
Other channels range from half decent with some good content to terrible with self-proclaimed experts who don’t have a clue. You can tell real quick if a video is worth watching to the end.
