Low Vision School Help for Reading

I've named my Facebook Live events "Low Vision School". That fits with my purpose which is to educate people with impaired vision about what is available to help them see better. There's a lot available and I will explain the various low vision glasses and other devices and also tell you how to get help. Unfortunately, many people with macular degeneration, Stargardt Disease, diabetic retinopathy and other eye conditions are not aware that help is available. With these Low Vision School classes I am going to try to educate you about the ways that you may be helped. Today, I will describe some of the ways that people with low vision can be helped with reading. I hope you find this helpful. If you have a question just raise your hand or better yet give me a call. I really appreciate these videos I recently underwent a low vision evaluation, but my specialist had limited samples of viable options. I was pleased with the overall evaluation, but still have so mean questions .The cost of vision aids like these is high, so I want to make the best possible decision. Thank you for these schools.

So it looks like reading telescopes might be suitable for reading music in an orchestra while also keeping an eye on the conductor looking over the telescopes. Do you think this will work?

Yes, I think that would work. Knowing the location of your music and how far from your face reading telescopes could be designed for that use. When I’ve helped musicians I always ask them to bring their music stand, some music and if possible their instrument. That way we can get angles and distance right.
