100% disabled veteran here. My husband is 100% disabled veteran who just went blind. You talked about a "bag" where you take your equipment with you. What do you carry on a daily basis? His frustration is seeing his computer and up close reading. What monocular do you recommend for that?
@teeshe18 , thanks for your service Semper Fi. As I am legally blind, not dark blind. My personal low-vision needs change depending on the days activities. Generally my everyday carry items include: my folding blind cane, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Ultra, and a pair of AirPod pro 2 earbuds. I have the Accessibility vision setting customized for my needs across the Apple Eco system. Includes devices: iPhone, 12.9 M1 iPad Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, and home based 27 inch 5K iMac computer and 4K Apple TV. Quick question have you and your husband discussed your needs with the VA, how about attending one of the VA blind rehab centers? Your VA eye-clinic doctor can set up a Vision coordinator consult. There are days when I carry a backpack full of goodies. EDC stuff specific to the days planned activities. For instance my iPad paired with Apple magic keyboard and Apple pencil 2 is handy for taking notes and scribble illustrations while out and about. The larger screen on the M1 iPad is far more useful than I initially believed possible and fits in a backpack easier than the large 16-inch MacBook Pro when portability is a concern. Selecting a Close focus monocular, my personal favorite is the Walter 8X30 as illustrated in the selecting the best low vision binocular for the visually impaired video. This is a bit large monocular that fits my 2X large hands. Good field of view, magnification and light and color gathering capable. Any question on these or other quandaries please ask. Stay safe make it a great day. Thanks again for your inquiry and viewing the legally blind geek videos. Hope they're helpful.
I've used Specwel since 7th grade. I liked it, but hated getting it. As I'm ADHD, I liked going up to the board to copy, but doing it remotely didn't work well for me.
@user-tv6uk2gz8h thanks for asking. I use the magnifier feature on my iPhone 14 Pro Max all the time. It helps me to read product labels and other text when I'm out and about making it far more convenient than some of the other OCR devices.

What is your monocular? The STOMI 4x12? I can not find the dimensions
I am not sure what you are asking; please help me understand your question better. Thanks for asking...
What do you think about using your phone as a magnifier?
