- I think a Monocular is a great tool to have in the tool box. Vortex was nice enough to send me their monocular lineup so we could take a look at them.

One correction. The Recce and Recon both have reticle adjustment but I never used or really needed to adjust it.
Man.. you are the ONLY one on youtube that is comparing the whole line of vortex mono's.. AWESOME! thanks alot for the info
Happy to help out.
@@wisemencompany Watch my videos comparing monoculars, you should like it
I like the 10x green solo for birding in general use. Keep it in my bag, never leave me wondering what something is off in the distance anymore.
Would love to see a "Solo R/T 8x36 vs Recce Pro HD 8x32" review. Awesome video, thanks.
Forget those people who find it funny; there is some amazing birds and other beautiful creatures to gaze upon! Especially when using great optics!
Superb video! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much.
I agree. Some amazing specimens. Their "plumage" is fascinating
The Birb is a simple species able to derive great joy from merely existing. They’re very enjoyable to observe
I only have tried the one I own, Solo RT. I love this thing. Amazing optics. Definitely going to purchase their binoculars also.
I just got the Solo R/T and love it. Its perfect for what I need.
I have one of those 8x25 solos I use it in my esc/hiking bag very nice piece of gear very compact and lightwieght. I also have a lair of the crossfire 10x42 I use for elk hunting those are also nice.
Great video I wear glasses plus am on a budget I hate the way binoculars are finicky in their adjustment which one would you recommend thank you
Awesome! Just the video I was looking for
glad it helps
Great job brother 👏
What about for use with an Android cell phone camera: which, if any, of these would you recommend for that purpose?
Would love to see the glass clarity on them when you look through them.
Thank you so much for this video!! it’s helped me a lot.
Which one do you recommend for bird-watching?
I'm having trouble deciding whether to buy 8x25, 8x36 or 10x36…There is no store I can try it look…
Im happy if you give me some advice.
Arigato.
Grate overview of the line up I appreciate it, and that warranty also applies to the rangefinders and electron components unlike some other very well known gold ring brands of past which is why after many many many years of loyalty I am switching companies and looking toward the future with vortex optics.
🥃cheers🍻
Cheers 🍻
Thank you!
Can you advise of the tripod and mount set up for the Recon?
I love my solo rt
Hey man maybe triste gonna be an akwaes question but i hope you can help me. What could be the monocular That jason bourne used in the first movie.?
Nice comporisson and I share the love for monoculkars. I also do some birdin/wildlife spotting, some tactical stuff etc. and love how smal they are. With the binoculars I have I often asked myself "will I really sude them today?' because of the extra weight I had to carry with me. The moneculars I always take with me, because they are so light and small. I have the Solo RT, but you got me interested in the Recce now ;) Would you say the focus ring on the recce is smoother than on the Solo? That is my only downside of the Solo RT...the focus ring is quite hard to move, so if you have to change focus quick, it is a bit of a pain in the *ss.
what is that trip pod accessory looked like a pistol grip on the recon rt?
Ty ❤❤❤
Ive only bought a Solo as my first monocular (8x25) recently. And I am blown away by it.
Can you adjust the "zoom"with it or is it only at 8x ?
Good video, subscribed
Nice
For the 15x power, is the image shaky and hard to look at for long? I want a monocular with a giant objective but the 15 power, made that mistake on some Leica bios. Looking for image stabilization in a monocular but haven't found it.
For hunting binos out west, most people think 12x too shaky for handheld use and opt for 10x. And 15x binos are used almost exclusively on tripods. I don't think a monocular would have any reason to fair better than the binos, and I noticed in the video at 6:55 that he indeed had his mono 15x on a tripod.
I want to know what brand and model tripod setup you showed with the Recon RT attached to.
Good video and review, appreciate the time you took to make it. I'm set on the Solo RT and the Recon RT...but like another mentioned, could do without the music in the background.
Otherwise, great review!
Tripod Brand: Manfrotto
Tripod head: Manfrotto -
Grip ball head.
Tip - if buying sturdy Tripod, get the 4x leg-sectioned & buy Carbon fibre..Manfrotto.
Will fold small, weigh little..
*Or transporting the long-Legged, heavyweighted Tripods can cause injury & ruin a trip.
I'm looking to purchase either the solo R/T or the Recce Pro HD. But can someone tell me why the Recce Pro is double the price of the R/T? Thank you!
What are the major differences between the the solo rt and recce? Is the glass better? Build quality? I just want to know if the price difference would be worth it or not. I plan to practice range estimation often, want clear glass for observation and will bring this out hiking/field/edc. What would you recommend and why specifically?
I will second this question. They seem nearly identical, so why the price difference?
Solo - made in China vs Recce - made in Japan. Recce has better glass, and even with the small reduction in objective size, you get markedly better color, clarity, and definition. The Recce also has attached lense covers, and furthermore, better build quality.
Seems to me like Vortex is actually not interested in selling the Recce Pro. They don't explain the price difference enough....
great review. ordered the solo RT. cant wait for it. Cant beat the warranty either
How did you find your monocular
@@littlebull8881 amazon has it last i checked.
And to add to your initial comment as to why a monocular vs a binocular? For me, I only have one strong eye. Always close one while using binoculars.
Not sure I understood why you would choose the Recce over the Solo R/T. What things did you like about the Recce over the R/T?
Japenese glass maybe
Yes I am also a "bird" watcher.
I’m blind in one eye, ,so binos feel like a waste.
Same here, I think I’m going to buy the Solo R/T
Yup. Howdy, brother!
So you don’t see in stereo?
50% a waste to be exact.
When I scout I can get quicker on game faster than I can with binoculars any day
Actually, the Recon R/T 15X has 2 focus rings.
Does the recon have a digital zoom?
Those are all passive monoculars, with glass lenses .... sure they don't have a digital zoom, weird question.
I l9ve vortex ,great company,lif3 time warranty,sent me a new pair bimocs instantly,2👍👍👍
Radical means glass I think you, you mean Plex crossers
U get what u pay for
It's a step above your normal comb
What is the main difference between the solo r/t and the Recce?
Glass quality and durability.
@@jpowens2253 thanks! I’ve been on the fence for a while now. I love the Solo R/T but ended up gifting mine to my little brother and have been considering upgrading.
@@jonjonckheer5063 no problem
Don't understand why anyone would get the Reece at $300 when the Solo R/T has a bigger objective lens and the same magnification and ranging reticle for half the price?
The Solo is a wee bit lighter, to boot.
I'm looking at the Reece after ordering (and returning the Solo R/T). It comes down to design details and use case. One thing to note for my situation is that I am left handed. The Solo R/T's clip is located on the segment that houses the reticle itself (and is set up for right-handed use so the clip is located on the left side). So when I rotate that element so the clip doesnt get in my way (clip is now located on the right side) the reticle marks are now upside down in my field of view. For the regular Solos (the x36 series, the x25 does not have a clip design element) the clip is attached to the body itself and is not rotatable. What I'm curious about the Reece is that the clip is designed to be at the bottom. I'm curious about the lower objective lens size (I don't think I"ll see too much difference between x32 and x36). And I am also interested to see how the different focus knob design will feel in use. Also add in lens cap designs and the Reece seems to be hitting all my marks (except for budget...)
It has better glass clarity. According to Vortex, The Reece is made in Japan and has glass equivalent to their Viper line while the Solo is made in China and has glass equivalent to their Crossfire line
Stop shaking the hell outta everything you hold... we're here to look at it.
I want something to be able to read a sign from atleast 6 blocks away.
You probably want to check out 'spotting scopes' for that sort of thing. And for the more snarky answer: it depends on how big the sign is and how big your blocks are. If you are in Salt Lake City, you have no chance in hell lol.
Hello Sir. To my eyes 8x25 magnification very poor - like 5-6x, but not 8. Thats why im looking at 10x25. 10x25 much worse in brightness than 8x25???
Of course the most expensive your favorite typical RUclipsr
Man I'm disappointed. The reticles only comes in Mrad. Bummer.
bump your audio up

sweet jesus i wish he wasn't spinning them like a baton the entire time i would like to look at the different angles for more than a millisecond. maybe i'm getting old
I agree with you actually haha. On camera it’s easy to get wrapped up in a talking point and fidget with the product. I had the same criticism of my self. Thanks for the comment.
sound effect way too loud compared to talking volume....work on it!
Better ask RUclips for your money back.
You don’t even show the view from it… wtf waste of time
I have better monoculars at no where near your prices- who are you working for ? LMAO
He clearly said vortex sent them so that would be vortex
next time leave the noise and the music or whatever that is in the background out of the video .
