Okay so I have an 08 yukon denali and unfortunately when I turn the key I get absolutely nothing not even a click, I have replaced the starter, new battery and cleaned the MAF previously it would start then shut right back off then eventually it wouldn't do anything at all also the scan tool/code reader is unable to connect to the trucks computer would this ignition switch be the cause of my issue? I did try to jump the starter solenoid and it spins over the engine just does not start...
This video saved me seriously! I was going straight off the Chilton's manual, and the manual missed the step you showed of rotating the key back to the stop position before removing the ignition switch. Thanks a million!
Successful install. I have a 2012 GMC Sierra. Word of advice. You don’t need to have the back key accessory mode. What you need to ensure is that the gears on the old switch match the gears on the new. Hand turn if need be on the new switch before installing to ensure an exact copy. From there you can install the new switch without having to manual turn the gear with a screwdriver or worry about putting the cylinder lock back in. My truck works just fine after install. Note! To avoid dealing with the reprogramming of the theft device don’t disconnect the anti-theft mechanism. Simply slip it off and let it hang plugged in. It will save you some trouble!
Thanks for a great video guys!! Saved me some big bucks taking it to the dealership. My truck was cutting out driving and very soft starting. Works like a champ now.

I bought my 97 chevy ign switch from 1A that wasn't my issue, my wife hastled me to get a return label. They didn't make me return the item. So I didn't have to dig it back out after testing the new part THANK YOU 1A!!!
This is fine if you have a vehicle that will go into accessory mode, but what if it doesn't? How do you line up the ignition switch with the lock cylinder?
Thank you for this video. The only issue I had was removing the lower valence panel - but now that I know how hard I need to pull on it, removing it would be easy the next time. It took me longer to gather the tools and remove the stupid valence than to actually swap the switch. PRO DIY TIP: use a pair of needle nose pliers (long, angled works well) to depress the two spring-loaded clips on the switch at the same time. I couldn't get it with two picks, but the pliers worked great!
That sounds like the cylinder is bad. When I took out my switch, the lock cylinder rotated very freely (when I put it back in). You can rotate the teeth on the switch with your fingers - takes a little force, but not very much.
I followed these instructions and now my ignition cylinder can be easily pulled in and out of the housing. It did not lock back into place - currently stumped EDIT: The detent block and spring went flying during disassembly because of the outer shell of the cylinder tumbler came apart and the spring under tension sent the block and spring flying... I didn't even know what I was missing until I was able to find a closer picture. And it took me hours of searching to find the spring and detent... after I found the pieces I quickly assembled the outershell back together and was able to correctly replace my 2017 silverado 1500 ignition switch with this tutorial.
My ignition cylinder will rotate to the start position…but will not start the truck…then when I released it..the starter engages and starts the truck…? ..It did this for several days…. Now when I turn the key nothing happens…? The battery has been tested and is good. Do you think it is the ignition switch..….or the starter. My truck is a 08 GMC
Is there a way to disable the steering wheel lock in a 2016 gmc sierra to be able to flat tow it behind my rv without having to disconnect battery? Also, I would like to be able to remove the key and lock the doors..
If someone jammed a screwdriver in my ignition switch, and my key doesn't turn to the start position, how do you recommend proceeding past this sequence?
I have a 2017 Silverado 1500, my keys turns all the way but it makes a clock sound after trying to turn it on, I replaced my ignition starter switch and got it re programmed but I’m still having the same problem
Followed exact directions/ instructions but lock cylinder will not go back in so I can remove the ignition switch, as of right now, I’m stuck! Can anyone assist? Lock cylinder goes in half way and stops in wiggled etc but won’t go past that Point. I did not remove key or anything, followed directions step by step.
I had the same problem where my ignition would not go into acc so I removed the lock cylinder and used a screwdriver to rotate the section in the column that turns the switch counter clockwise, it will stop in the correct acc position then I put the switch in and used the screwdriver to turn the same thing in the column clock wise to the run position just before the start position and inserted the lock cylinder back in. It sounds harder than it is. I plugged the switch in last

Hello i followed your instruction but unpluging the key security thing does that have to be reprogram? My truck is not starting now. Its like sticking in a key with no chip. Power starter fuse are good.
+mr freeze Thanks for checking us out! The part will not need to be programmed once installed. Please let us know if you have any further questions, thank you!
In the beginning after you said to put the key in the ignition and put it in start position. What if after putting the key in, but to put it in start position, it doesn't recognize anything. After trying to get the key out because it was stuck and wiggling it got the key out of the ignition. Now the switch doesn't work at all. So it can't be put in any position for power, start nothing.
+Marco Nava We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Be careful with this. You may not need to remove the key solenoid to reset. Be careful I had a hard time reinstalling. And I almost damaged it. Do not remove key at anytime until the whole full setup is complete then reconnect the battery.
Not sure what you're referring to, but my key came out of my cylinder after I removed it. I just put it back in and it was fine. The cylinder will only go back into the hole one way. It goes in very freely - if you have to force it, try turning it 180* and see if it goes in. Remember, it needs to go back in roughly in the "start" position.

How do you know if the lock mechanism or the switch is the part at fault? My key gets stuck in the off position. Very hard to get it to move to start.
That sounds like the cylinder is bad. When I took out my switch, the lock cylinder rotated very freely (when I put it back in). You can rotate the teeth on the switch with your fingers - takes a little force, but not very much.

Video is great but you want 20 bucks more than amazon for the same part. That's a problem. Yours 35, theirs 15 same Dorman part.
Very helpfull wats the cost on switch
Should I test it before totally reassembling it?
Im in spirit lake idaho by any chance do you guys have a recommended mechanic trustworthy in this area?

If the key is just sticking, is that a cylinder issue or does the whole ignition system need to be replaced?
I have the dtc b1441! This video is the solution!??

You don't need to pull the lower dash panel.
If I change lock cylinder from another vehicle do I need the theft device also for the key to work or just the lock cylinder will work?
yes you do
I'm having issues with the fobs not working anymore and someone mentioned ignition issues. Would that just be the switch not knowing if the keys in?
Battery in the fob first
You guys outta sell on Amazon I'd buy from you more it's just easier
What would be the reason to change this? My 2011 Silverado is getting no power when the key is in the ignition, no lights. Would that be why?
I’m having the same problem. Did you get it fixed? And how?
How do you align the gears on the switch? Right now I only seem to have 3 positions and truck starts but only runs for like 2 seconds

Stan B ok tnx mine is getting stuck alot of times and it’s frustrating, im going to try it
What did you end up doing to get it to start?
Is there any programming need for the key or anything
How is it going guys

If you have a diesel, how do you remove panel without damaging the trailer brake lever panel?
Do you have a duramax?
My key wont lock back into place when attempting to put the ignition switch back in. The ignition is loose and trys to pull out when i remove the key.

Problem solved you may have to manually move the gear to auxiliary position. Other than that 1a is awesome I called and had a tec call me
I'm having an issue turning my ignition on I darn near go back and forth with the key a million times would this fix it
What happeneds if this part is not working properly

dorman has a new kit for tumblers that lets you keep the same key for doors/ignition!!!!!!!

P2534 code what ignition switch is it talking about this or the one with the key, please help?
The P2534 code is signaling a faulty ignition switch. The part with the key is called an ignition lock.
