Just installed this kit over the weekend.... Super easy if you have any mechanical aptitude at all! Hardest part was lining the shift lever boot back up when putting the top column cover back on! Note: No need to remove lower column cover, only top. Performed on 2009 Silverado 2500HD
So i HAD 2 suburbans... I recently had one of them stolen but the punk stole my keys to BOTH of my cars!! So how do I get the ignition lock cylinder out without a key???
How do i either get the 5 digit tumbler code so i can rekey the tumbler on my 2005 chevrolet malibu maxx OR remove the security feature on my ignition??? Please help!! I really dont want to pay sky high prices at chevy dealership

so basically that how we can use the old key in new cylinder. what if we lost the key? i mean how we can take out the cylinder out of the car? also what if we want to use the new key, do we still need to code new cylinder? thanks
So I believe my key end has broken off inside the cylinder, and I cannot turn the cylinder to the start position, any other way to release the cylinder?
I have just done this on a 2016 Nissan Frontier pickup. I had purchased a used lock assembly from the wreaking yard. The secured system would not allow the car to start because the chip in the used lock key was not the right code for the pickup. ( theft system) It also had a push pin to release the tumbler assembly. I used the key ( it had proper chip) that came with the pickup and changed the tumblers out just like this video did. I am assuming that you could purchase the tumbler assembly from the dealer. But it is not designed for removing tumbler like the GM product. I had to drill to small pins out to remove the tumbler assembly. On reinstalling I used a small drill bit that I cut off for the replacement pins that I drilled out previously. Note! the receiver that wraps around lock assembly that reads the key does only that. My used ign lock from the wreaking yard receiver worked fine. No programming necessary. Receiver reads the chip in the key and turns off the theft system and truck started. I hope this helps somebody who is having this problem with the theft system on today's cars.
I also wanted the original keys to work in the door lock assy. That is why i changed the tumbler assy to be like the original. I did trick the ign to work and was able to start engine. This vehicle had been stole and i didn't know if other issues were present. T
I have a 2008 gmc envoy I have replaced the ignition switch and the key switch/tumbler. But now truck want turn off. I have to pull out fuses and disconnect battery. Also notice that key doesnt spring back forward on turned on so do it manually and when I put drive it cuts off. What's that about. Help please.
+Patricia Gonzalez We do not have a way of being able to diagnose the issue that you are experiencing with your vehicle but suggest taking it to a local mechanic for a proper diagnosis.

+Spoutnik There are kits you can purchase with a new key and lock cylinder if you have lost the key.
My key wont come out once the cylinder is back in. It will go forward but not to off position. Feels like there is no spring resistance when cranking
Will this apply to Silverados also?
Won't turn to accessory position ?
gmc sierra2008
So I believe my key end has broken off inside the cylinder, and I cannot turn the cylinder to the start position, any other way to release the cylinder?
Drill a screw into it and use a dent puller to knock it out. You will destroy the cylinder but will be able to get it out and replace it
Please help my ignition key won’t at all no matter what I try or do please help i need it back asap
Would this cause a b1380-06 code?
+WorldsWorst Fifaplayr This would indicate a short to the battery. We would suggest having a local mechanic diagnose this for you.
The key cylinder will not go back in. What do I do?
What about if the cilinder its broke inside???
I did as shown , but my key wont turn forward
It could be that your key is wasted mate
The original lock was missing one of the tumblers is that normal
Another video says it's normal to have some tumblers missing.
The first style had 1 missing
a question when changing the ignition lock cylinder you also have to program the key or you do not need that

Larry Brenner you could of just held you’re original key to the receiver and tricked the receiver and then your key would work
I also wanted the original keys to work in the door lock assy. That is why i changed the tumbler assy to be like the original. I did trick the ign to work and was able to start engine. This vehicle had been stole and i didn't know if other issues were present.

My key dont move
+Francisco Felix Double check that your tumblers are in the correct order
If you invert top lids from medicine bottles they make great small dishes to keep small parts in while working.
Help
I have no key... Zero key, and need to unlock the steering wheel on my 2008 Chevy Express.
Why did your friend tell me to take apart the whole dashboard.
