      Is the gold model chipping off like stealth, or is like the silver version?

    There's a sleeve to avoid the dents and scratches from activity or heavy lifting. I got one from OSleeve and I have been using mine for 4 years with no issues.

    I do have the sliver version. It seems the best "scratch resistant" version. My biggest concern is the software and firmware development for the V3. No real update yet. Bad sleep tracking in start and ending time. Got messages of napping. I do never take a nap. Reported my issues. Got no reply yet.
    Stay with v2. New customers wait for further development.

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I've had the opposite - took a nap, got a good 30min rest, wake up and Oura didn't pick it up. Also I'm currently using a Polar Vantage V2 for training, and the sleep data is VERY different to the Oura :S

    when you say weightlifting, pull ups etc., you are putting all the weight on the ring and it holds up? I was worried if I do pull-ups or so my weight would crush the ring? it is electronics after all.

    • @MrsBBC
      @MrsBBC Год назад

      This is my question too.
      I don't pull up or lift anything like this guy lifts, but it can't be good for the tech over time

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  Год назад +1

      I have smashed it pretty hard - I even used the ring to help with grip sometimes - so there is a LOT of pressure going through it. The ring itself has helped up - but it is pretty beat up from a scratch point of view!

    I have had my ring for ~4 months in matte black that I wear daily. Scratches aren’t as bad as yours but not liking how it looks. I am considering carefully spray painting the ring. Any thoughts? Obviously I will not get paint on the electronics on inside of ring.

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  2 года назад

      You could give it a go. It's not something I have looked into. Matching the color and finding a paint that stays on may be tricky?? If you do it let me know how you get on

    • @andresv.8880
      @andresv.8880 2 года назад

      spray paint will likely make it look worse as it will scratch very easily and you'll be left with an ugly mess.

    Hey Guys, I am mostly interested in the oura ring to track calories burnt and 99% of my workouts are weightlifting. Does the oura ring track calories burnt via the heart rate readings or from the accelerometer?
    Anyone here successfully track accurate calories burnt during a weightlifting session ?

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't rely on the Oura for calorie tracking. It's not very accurate.

    • @ZacharyTech7

      You are correct lifting weights is what caused his to scratch and lose color your not supposed to lift weights with it, maybe if you had the silver one you'd be fine no color to come off

      Yeah fair point. I don't care if they get scratched up or not hence why I keep it on and I thought I'd show people want can happen if you do use it lifting.
      I took it off once when training and nearly lost the ring! So it's easier just to leave it on

    If I’m not bothered about scratches and looks but rather interested in collecting my data from training as well, do you see any issues with wearing it while strength training ?
    I own the generation 2 heritage stealth but have never worn it while training alltho I actually would want to 😅

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  2 года назад +1

      I use mine with training and have done for years. Heck you can even see this video from 2017 where I use it while deadlifting - ruclips.net/video/ajk6PRBdJV0/видео.html
      I do take it off now when I'm doing big deadlift sets for reps - I just want to make sure my grip is 100% perfect for the big sets. I mean you could leave it on, but I choose to take it off. Otherwise it's on when I do rows, or chins, or presses etc.

      @@LightTherapyInsiders Awesome, thanks for sharing mate! This was always the one thing I found a little sad about the ring. If I want data of my HRV and RHR, sleep and such, I also would like to have it collecting data of me when I train since this is about 4-5 times a week. Will do so then and thanks again. Have a great week!

    I think the only way to avoid scratches is to wear weightlifting gloves or remove it while lifting but that kinda defeats the point doesn't it lol

      Hey, yeah there are many ways to test irradiance. A lot of companies use a solar mete - but thats not a suitable device. Some companies send their panels off for independant testing and publish the data (I wish all companies did this).
      I use a spectrometer and use the same testing protocol for all panels - so my figures may be different to a companies listed figures, but I know they're reliable and comparable to other data points from my other tests.
