That voice... Goodness the acoustics really bring the emotion out. It's an amazing song to begin with, but I feel the passion is even more palpable with acoustics. 2:28-3:07 damn near brings me to tears. Beautiful performance on their part, glad I discovered Karnivool.
ive listened to themata and sound awake more than alot throughout the year and i still cant make sense of how underated they are, its like they went right under the radar, or people really do have shit tastes in music.
It's not all falsetto - a fair bit of it is disconnected yes - but at lot of it at least the stuff up to his second bridge is connected. That's pretty impressive - There aren't many rock singers who can do that. Maynard, Cornell, Buckley - he's in that kind of territory.
This is my sense of reality This is proof of my coming of age This is truth in captivity This is loosing a theology, I I'm a soul taker I'm a cruel, witted mind This is my sense of reality This is proof of my coming of age I'm a soul taker I'm a cruel witted mind Are you with me? Are you of my mind? Are you with me? Are you of my mind? Waking, falling, free of gravity We just severed these umbilical wires This is more than just affinity We're moving further through an endless desire I'm a soul taker I'm a cruel witted mind Come again, I feel a breakdown Let's go higher This is the sound of your Reason to wake Have we forgotten now? The three lower strings are in drop B the higher three strings are in standard. So you're going to need light high strings and heavy low ones if you want good balance.
Has anyone cracked the ending ? I'm pretty sure I am hearing - So/slowy ? kiss goodbye all the worries that you left, and leave the rest behind and walk away, walk away ? thoughts ?
I think maybe slow kiss goodbye? Either worries or words, but the rest sounds right. I'd never heard this song til I just found it now. How bloody good.
He is very good; I'll not discredit him. He's also got a uniquely high voice (or at least developed upper register) that isn't common in similar music.
Can someone tell me what he is singing in the outro? I mean the part with "so kiss goodbye..." i can't figure it out but it sounds so great O_o! Whould like to know that.
Agreed, most Prog bands have vocalists with extremely high registers. But we have all these assholes from the -core exodus coming to find music that is good and complaining that it is not the same as the unfulfilled and uninspired music they usually listen to.
Paperwings90 would like the progression as accurate as possible, whit variations if they are. I've played C Em D and A/Am and doesn't sounds too wrong, but they dont use open chords
I play some similar version with standard E tune. The verse is one guitar playing Em, then Asus2. Listen to the song to get the rythim and changes. I play the high tones in this part with octaves: G, D, C, B (you can also try to hit the first string in 3, 8, 5 and 3). The Chorus is C, Em, D and Asus2.
He's not singing falsetto, he's making sure he doesn't drown the acoustics. His natural range is tenor, but if he did that next to acoustics you'd not hear them.
Missing in Venice is correct: he is using falsetto intentionally and switching to full diaphragm range. Verse 1 to verse 2 he does this, and its also perceivable in the album version. Its actually incredibly hard to get those two methods to overlap with any significant range, and its impressive as hell that he can do that live.
Karnivool killing it as always! That falsetto voice is too good. :D Also hey, I made an acoustic/indie cover of the song, check it out on my channel :)
Almost spot on. The only thing wrong is he says "We walk away, we walk away" not "And walk away" I know that sounds picky and bitchy, but it is what it is, and I mean no offence by it.
I keep hearing people say this, but no one seems to realize that how pitchy he is. He's a good vocalist, but at what point does using falsetto stop being special?
Karnivool needs SO MUCH MORE recognition!!!!
Wish there was an official acoustic album with stuff like this on - I'd be all over that!
Do you think if we crowd funded the studio time they'd deliver?

Man, Kenny's voice is unreal!
So this is where the talent has been for the past decade..

ive listened to themata and sound awake more than alot throughout the year and i still cant make sense of how underated they are, its like they went right under the radar, or people really do have shit tastes in music.
People just have shit tastes in music these days unfortunately

Discovered them a year ago. All the people I know don't even know about this band.
TIL I need more acoustic versions of Karnivool songs in my life.

If there was one voice I could pick, it would be this man.

Agreed, the best part and it's the last part of the song

@@CuzzaBoyee awesome song, anything they do in acoustic always seems on point, least we are close on the lyrics.
'so kiss goodbye all the ones that you love, then leave the rest behind. We walk away, and walk away.' I think.
"So kiss good bye, all the ones that you love then leave the rest behind. we'll walk away, we'll walk away"
Thank you so much! I was wondering what he says in that part cause its different from the album. Thanks once again. So beautiful.
Thanks
that is a tight performance..........
Hey, is this the end ? of all i know ?
Que buena cancion
can u relate....can u relate....
He is very good; I'll not discredit him. He's also got a uniquely high voice (or at least developed upper register) that isn't common in similar music.
Wow Lordy showed me this
*yea, RUclips, more of this right here*
Can someone tell me what he is singing in the outro? I mean the part with "so kiss goodbye..." i can't figure it out but it sounds so great O_o! Whould like to know that.
Pretty sure it’s their main vocalist Ian Kenny. :)
Does anybody know the lyrics of the end of this version?
Sounds like:
"So, a kiss goodbye
All the ones that you love
And leave rest behind
You walk away, You walk away"
@Mugenloo Or Dallas Green, seeing as they sound almost exactly the same...
this song is hard to learn..
I think is drop B, but the main chord is D, so I think you could easily traspose it, but don't expect to keep the essence ;)

i need a replay button
Anybody knows Tuning for this song? THANKS !!!

Agreed, most Prog bands have vocalists with extremely high registers. But we have all these assholes from the -core exodus coming to find music that is good and complaining that it is not the same as the unfulfilled and uninspired music they usually listen to.
I'm an old progger, but the 'Vool, DLC, Arcane, Poem and others are making "New Prog" and most of it is ridiculously good!!!~
Does anyone have guitar tabs of this version?
Im also still looking for some : / figured out some parts but the chord progression sounds way better in this vid...
Paperwings90 really would like someone to share these chords
You want chords in general or you want what i figured out?
Paperwings90 would like the progression as accurate as possible, whit variations if they are.

Yeah I know..this is their classic tuning...
Ok those six heartless one who disliked the song/video come over here i want to say a couple words.
What is the tuning for this?
DADFAE
Thanks.
nope
What the fuck is this. I'm crying.
Still don’t know what the hell a “thermology” is all these years later.
Theology. Lol
Both wrong. It's "lucid ophthalmology"
Ah, no man, i don't mind.
not the best acoustic they've done...but still breathtakin',true shit.
He's not singing falsetto, he's making sure he doesn't drown the acoustics. His natural range is tenor, but if he did that next to acoustics you'd not hear them.
+ivan fawcett-Gibson lol who cares
+ivan fawcett-Gibson He's definitely singing falsetto in the first verse, you can hear the timbre change from verse 1 to 2, it's very obvious.
Luka real musicians do care about the techniques.. so don’t speak for everybody.
Karnivool killing it as always! That falsetto voice is too good. :D
Also hey, I made an acoustic/indie cover of the song, check it out on my channel :)
I see he can hit the dislike button, but still can't hit puberty.
everything about this video is good except that toilet seat!
justin bieber just hit
the dislike button

friends, here.... When you have an amazing singer, you let the guy sing. Please dont fuck the music up by SINGING WITH HIM!!!!!!
Thank you.
