Wow, your Longan tree is loaded with fruit and really impressed you are growing this tree in Northern California, you really have a green thumb! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Julie, Thanks for the kind words. Ive been growing exotics in my garden for 40 years. The first 20 were very hard as I was given a lot of bad advice from “ garden experts “ However, through trial and error, things now do seem to fall into place. Not exactly an expert, but I do well with what I grow in my z9b garden and hope that I can influence other interested individuals with similar plant interests and growing conditions a try. Thanks for watching!
Hi Jeff, I just received my 2 air layered longan trees that I bought online. They are still in their pots. I also bought 3 longan seedlings. Thanks for your advice and posting this video. I hope this time around my longan trees won’t die and bare sweet fruits like your tree. Thanks again, Nae
Trust me Brett, on these Hot 101f+ days, you are better off keeping the arm! lol But…… The sun is lower in the sky so the plants can deal much better with heat than last month. And we dont start cooling down until mid Oct!
@@TropicalGardenGuy I used to live in Southern California for most of my life. Back then I didn't think of planting anything. Now, in East Texas from the beginning of this year, I am planting fruit trees, especially tropical fruit trees and looking to plant longan, jackfruit, mangos, and many other tropical fruit trees as I recall we had in our property back home in Cambodia. I guess I am pushing the limit here in zone 8b. I don't know what will survive. I may have to babysit them in containers until they are more mature to put them in the ground. I have 2 acres lot here and want to plant densely in hope they will protect each other from cold winds. I don 't know if that will work or not. Seeing the production of your Longan reminds me of my childhood home. Congratulations on your success.
@topicalgardenguy I add fish fertilizer with nitrogen and potassium and phosphorus. Like every two weeks has directed I give them two different types of fertilizer. The brand is Alaska.. one of them doesn’t have nitrogen and the other one has 10 potassium and 10 phosphorus and the other fertilizer has five nitrogen and one phosphorus and one potassium. How often should I water the tree and having the routine of the liquid fertilizer is a good? I live in Southern California and I see that it doesn’t have a lot of fruit like yours
Hi. Wow. Such a beautiful tree!! We have a longan tree that is probably 20+ years old and i’ve never been able to have fruit get to the “picking” stage. We see baby fruit then they die. We live in so cal. Does the tree require lots of water? That may be our problem. Thanks!
Hi Jeff, I am a new subscriber. I was amazed by your Longan. Are there any longan nursery that you recommend on the central valley or north of cali? Thank you so much.
This spring, I’ve been using just a small amount of citrus and avocado tree fert. You have to be careful about the nitrogen though. A fert low in nitrogen and higher in potassium is best
This is brilliant despite surrounded by all those other trees she's productive & healthy I guess she's happy with the soil & the sunlight * airflow are adequate. I have 2 seed grown Longan trees is it true you need both a male and female or are they self pollinating?
I really want one of these, should I wait till spring to plant or just do it now. I'm in SoCal. I found a lady after talking with someone at a nursery that has them. Has anyone grown these from seed, I've bought them at the supermarket? Thanks for sharing.
If you have a healthy air layer tree, I’d plant now. Growing from seed, you generally have to wait 10 or more years to get fruit and you never know how the fruit is gonna turn out
@@TropicalGardenGuy so immediately after harvesting fruit you prune and how much you prune back? My tree was producing fruits every year until the last 3 years. I’m in SoCal in cerritos by OC. This year friend of mine advised I need to prune at the right time. We pruned 1/1/24 should I see flowers by now? I Don’t see anything. Thank you 🙏
Sir, pls give me an advice, i had big lonngan in my backyard but neverr give us a fruit. Its more than 23 yrs tree not giving us a flower. What we gonna do the tree so that it will produce flower and fruit?.
Hi Jeff, long time subscriber. I enjoy your videos. Would you please mention the name in your response so I get the spellings right. I would like to buy a plant. Can I put it in a full sun spot? I am in Sacramento area. Thank you.
You got the name correct! Lol Unfortunately, I dont sell plants so you’ll either have to head down to SoCal or get one online. Be prepared to pay over $100. This said, if a good sized tree is planted in a good draining soil in mostly full sun, you should be rewarded with fruit in 2 or 3 years. Good luck and Happy growing!

It's a beautiful tree Jeff, lol I'd give my right arm for some of your climate 😂😂

Sir can longan be grown in container and get a satisfactory result?and which varies do u recommend for container?
Inground is best
Excellent job Jeff. What fertilizer do use? Your longan is so lush and robust.
This spring, I’ve been using just a small amount of citrus and avocado tree fert. You have to be careful about the nitrogen though. A fert low in nitrogen and higher in potassium is best
Wow, that's crazy how you manage to plant it so close. I was thinking the root system is pretty extensive since it is a fast growing tree.
No problems.
Thanks for sharing about longan with us. How large do you expect your tree to get?
Hi Vivian, Not sure yet. But if it gets too big, i will do some pruning
This is brilliant despite surrounded by all those other trees she's productive & healthy I guess she's happy with the soil & the sunlight * airflow are adequate.

Nope, I only have one tree

Hi Jeff
Lovely

Well said and subbed
Thanks
Hey Jeff! Can I buy a air layer Logan tree from you? I’m from Modesto.
Sorry, I sell any of my plants, but you can find them online.
My longon tree is about 15 years old, still no fruit however this tree was planted by seed
Yea seedlings can take forever. This tree is an airlayer , produces a lot of fruit from second year in ground
Hey Jeff, I live in bakersfield and my guava tree leaves edges are turning brown what would be the cause?
Hard to say, salt burn ? Put a lot of mulch around base.
Water deeply and allow to dry slightly between watering.
Will it bear fruit
It does
Your Logan look so good. Can you sell the fruit or graft me one
Sorry, I don’t sell stuff, but you can find them online🌴😎🌴
