    Respect to Canada from Russia. I'd love to visit Canada someday. In fact, I think our countries are very similar in many aspects, with vastness and nature and cold winters... oh, and hockey :)

      +goomba008 I think that's true most places...I'm in a mid-sized city in Ontario, and road rage is something I experience at least twice a day. Especially when there are slow-walking pedestrians in the crosswalk, and bicycles on the road, lol.

    • @regszikora

      Then I would say Try Nunavut, If there ever was a middle of no where in North America that is it. And Nunavut is huge, much larger than Alaska. O ps 1/10th the population of Alaska as well. Also Northern Quebec the Angava Peninsula. or Northern Western Provinces, they are all bigger than Texas. and so on.

  • @mw2snipey

    hate the remoteness? i guess some people may hate it, but most true Canadians love it, the nature, animals, lakes. it is truly wonderful, i do understand the distance of some places is a negative, like living up north, when my grandma goes to her cottage she is a 2 hour drive from the nearest wal-mart, it is honestly amazing, i hate living in the city

    • @woltersworld
      @woltersworld  9 лет назад +8

      Mario Bartolo I think what I wanted to say was that if you are driving and you are not used to the vast distances it could scare you (this was something a few tourists we bumped into in Kingston were mentioning to us)

    • @mw2snipey
      @mw2snipey 9 лет назад +2

      woltersworld ahh makes sense, i could see how driving up north and getting lost in a remote area without cell phone reception is a negative, especially if you have no idea where you are or where to go, anyways if that ever happens don't be afraid to ask for directions, most people up here are friendly :)

      My Canadian children and husband have no appreciation for Canada. We take trips back to England to visit my family and they get soooo excited. I'm glad to see family, but not particularly excited to visit home and not interested in tourist bits. When we go camping, I get soooo excited! And my kids and husband are mildly interested. I pick these beautiful spots in the Northern Ontario and Quebec with less campers and it's just soooo quiet and have long beautiful drives. Grrr! Canadians! You fail to appreciate what you have! Fail!

      It was because of the Alberta oil boom. Unfortunately it will never happen again since our government is anti-oilsands/ anti-self reliance. With the USAs new found oil independence they don't need our oil anymore so they only refine it and then ship it back to us for triple the price. Instead of being smart and prospering from the resource we have here at home we're going to leave it in the ground and support terrorism and misogyny by buying it from Saudi Arabia instead. Why? Because its 2020.

    I told my husband that I'm excited but scared at the same time.. I'm going to live in a country that is very different from where I came from.. Culture, Cold weather (I grew up in a tropical country), language, food, people, place, etc. Plus I don't have any friends or relatives there. It's a whole new world for me.. but I'm looking forward to meet amazing Canadians and begin my new life in Canada with my husband. :-)

    I loved your take on Canada. I grew up in Europe (but was born in Montreal), and it took me a while to adjust to the long distances between major cities when we returned to Canada in 1968. I have always had an outsider's appreciation of Canada despite having been born here. I don't think Canadians realize that what we have is quite unique. I, too, love the multicultural aspect of this country. I travel downtown in Toronto where there are distinct neighbourhoods for many, many cultures. It's like travelling the world in 1 day. I'm glad you enjoyed your time here. We just love American visitors like you.

    • @danawick9817
      @danawick9817 8 лет назад +1

      +tommyboat64 Canada is already feeling the pinch here are some figures that have come out. Manufacturing of products for export brought the Canadian Government about 80 billion dollars in transfer payments now with that said most manufacturing is in Eastern Canada from light bulbs to Auto parts. The eastern part of Canada has always treated the West with disregard and disdain and think that we dont do anything significant for the Country. Alberta alone transfered 130 billion a year which is equal to what the Federal Government transfers to Quebec . Alberta Oil and Gas has been the largest employer in Canada with most of those employed in the Oil and Gas coming from Eastern Canada because we had work for them. Saskatchewan is also in the Oil and Gas business but i believe thats equal to their farming. Manitoba ( we really dont know what they do lol ) i believe they are mining and Farming. British Columbia are the Tree huggers of Canada beautiful province we have to give them that most of their wealth came from Logging which has been dealt a bad hand over the years but made up for it with the best pot in the world lol so they say. i dont partake in that BS.
      Alberta to has besides oil and gas farming and beef. Canada also has the best Ginsing in the world.
      Canada is not a Nationalistic Country our new Govt is trying to find some type of identity for us we already have one we may not be Nationalistic but we are certainly some of the most Patriotic Citizens on the planet.and we dont brag about it we just are. We do come together fully when there is adversary anywhere in the Country or the World despite what our new fancy selfie prime minister says. so was that enough for now ?? lol.

      As a Canadian I think it would work better the other way around. Reason being it is way easier to stop and look or get out of the way when you are a pedestrian than when your in a 2 ton vehicle going 50kph. Cars don’t stop very well and expecting them to stop for someone who walks into the road without looking doesn’t make sense. Obviously I think you should have to try and stop but saying the vehicle is legally at fault every time is simply not true, lots of times it’s the pedestrian that didn’t do there job to make sure it was safe.

    Not cheap - tourist destinations often put a surcharge on top of your bill. This is often because they are responsible for paying the ads for that region that the city/province puts out for them. This can of course be expensive/cheap depending on exchange rates. So I suggest not actually staying directly in the area you are going to be exploring - you'll find more savings - and don't always go in the 'tourist season' unless there is some thing that you really want to see that time of year.

    Toronto is one of my favorite places to visit. Canadian people being nice is an understatement, almost every place we went you made a new friend or found someone to go to the bar with. Also love the multiculturalism, there was different parades almost every day. 4 good thing is so true! I love baseball and when I went just happen to be when Toronto was hosting the world baseball classic. I recommend everyone go to Toronto at least once, and find someone local and go to a restaurant of their recommendation!

    Re crosswalks.... yes in Ontario, people cross the street in front of moving cars as if the crosswalk will protect them from an oncoming bus.
    In Quebec, if you try that, you’re getting run over.

    I'm glad you mentioned poutine. If you are visiting Montreal and want the standard poutine, you can't go wrong anywhere with the possible exception of the fast food chains (the fries in poutine are normally a little thicker than what you get at McDonalds). If you want one of special poutines and don't care how much it shortens your life, I recommend the sloppy joe poutine from Poutine Centrale in Little Italy. It's exactly what it sounds like, Tex-Mex beef and cheddar on top of the fries and cheese curds of the traditional poutine and it is incredible.

    I live in Vancouver and here are my loves and hates:
    Loves:
    1. the natural beauty of the nation, especially BC.
    2. the amount of outdoor activities and short trips you can do around your city.
    3. more space per person, unlike Europe or Asia.
    4. the high school education, people who tried succeeded.
    5. work culture, you don't need to worry about work after you go home.
    Hates:
    1. political correctness.
    2. expensive post secondary education.
    3. major city traffic.
    4. tipping and taxed everything.
    5 taxation to pay for unwanted or unnecessary projects

    The reason why it's more expensive in Canada is because one US dollar is worth more than one Canadian dollar but it's close enough that retailers accept 20$ USD as 20$ CAD so really everything has the same value but the number of dollars is higher. But there are places like Vancouver that are VERY expensive you are right about that. Great video, keep it up!

      Kristijan Binski that is nice. I have been debating on how to make a better screen shot for the videos. sometimes I feel like making the beautiful scenery pictures like you made or like a picture of the coliseum in Rome for Rome videos, but then I wonder if my subscibers might not think it is one of my videos, but just another "Rome" video. So I sometimes try to make sure one of the family is in the picture so the subscribers know its us. But dang, your's make it look so good!!!! Great job. And we are planning on coming to Serbia. I think we will do kind of a whirlwind tour with Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia. Kind of a former Yugoslavia swing. I think it would be amazing. I have met quite a few serbs on my travels and they have always been FUN to say the least :) honest as well.

    • @KristijanBinski
      @KristijanBinski 10 лет назад +1

      woltersworld I hear what you're saying, good point! Well as a UI/UX designer I might be a bit more perfectionist than most of your other subscribers, but I tried to make it look better, The background image it's just an example so you could always replace this, I was also focusing on the other elements, like your logo is semi transparent, I think that's pretty cool, than you have the main headline, and subheadline below (different font, not shadow, but there is a semi transparent box in behind so the text stands out more). These could also be "hate #1 : it's expensive" and then some more description below etc.. Just like you did in your other videos but it looks a bit better. Don't get me wrong but I really did not liked much that dropshadows on the text, they are just too large in my opinion :-) So yea if you need any help like that, don't hesitate to get in touch (kristijanbinski@gmail.com), I will be happy to help you out free of charge!
      Haha yeah, that would be a crazy tour, to visit all those places in former Yugoslavia, you only missed Macedonia.. Btw, the prices here in Serbia are more than affordable, I already can see that this would be your number 1 love, or maybe the food, I'm not quite sure actually but one of those two would be number 1 for sure! :-)

    I don't mind at all when people think I'm american, but when I tell them I'm Canadian, many say: Oh, it's the same.
    Your american. That pisses me off! and I am NOT anti-american in any way! I then call them Americans, which they take offense .. so I make my point, and still some will still refer to me as American, no matter what!

      _Canada has done a poor job marketing it's self in the world._
      Couldn't tell by me. I spend several weeks of the summer in the rockies (mostly Jasper - Banff has become a tad too crowded and "touristy" for me) and - no joke - most of the people I meet on the hiking trails are either German or British. It never fails to amaze me how many Germans and Brits come to our mountains. Hells, even the park rangers are often surprised to hear that I'm an Albertan.

    You keep talking about how wonderful Banff National Park (Alberta) and Vancouver (British Columbia) are in your video, but your video segments are all filmed in Eastern Canada. This is why everyone from around the world thinks all Canada has to offer is in Eastern Canada (Toronto, in particular). Because USA tourists only ever film or talk about that part of the country, it seems. But this is a HUGE country, and the West is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. You need to SHOW people Western Canada on your next video rather than just making a couple of brief comments about it. You need to SHOW them the beauty British Columbia and Alberta. These two provinces are very different from the East. In fact, all the provinces offer something quite different and unique, even the prairie provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. (Other than that, I agree with pretty much everything you say in your video. Empowered pedestrians ... ha ha. Funny because it's true! And YES, the poutine is wonderful here ... in both the East and the West!)

    There are several reasons why beer is so good in Quebec. 1. The oldest brewery in North America is located in Montreal, and it is the Molson Brewery. 2. when the first French settlers came to Quebec, they did not have access to wine. Since there were no vines. 3. So they started making beer to get an alcohol to drink. 4. Today in the province of Quebec, there are more than 150 microbreweries... they are so popular and their products so delicious, that Quebecers are drinking less and less commercial beers like Molson, Labatt, Moosehead, Heineken, etc.

  • @BrucexfromxCanada

    A few remarks from Canada!
    1) Poutine is yummy, but I would only asuggest it for young boys who have been playing their hockey hearts out on some outdoor rink half the day at 30 below, wind in addition.
    Other than that, Pouitine is terible for your health.
    Now we all like sugar and syrup, so if you are in the Montreal area, find a Crepe Breton restaurant. there are a number of them not so far from Lafontaine parc, just a bit east of the downtown middle. Don't use a car or taxi to gewt there, use our rubber-tired underground metro.
    Typical of Canadian cities, for a city of comparable size ve=is a vie the u.S., public transit will be mocu more available and extensive. That's because it is generally government managed. In Montreal, a bus ticket for the S.T.M. can take you (one way) from Ste. Anne de bellevue in the West to the LeGardeur bridge in the east, a distance of about 40 miles.
    As for Quebec outside of Momtreal, the French her will say >..
    This means 2 things:
    Yes, it IS geographically an island in the province of quebec, but...
    More in the emotive content of that saying ius the big contrast between Montreal, where you will find some 80 languages on a day, and some 30 miles out of town. The latter is as different as if it were a foreign country! Likely you will hear little else but French (with some exceptional pockets) and a far more rural, but very happy environment, once you get to understand the social environment as much as the language.
    Above all, French Canadians are an EMOTIVE society. They are Language proud, but not condescendingly so. In fact the very word "pirde" has two different words in French:
    > (fie-ahr-TEH) is rightful pride
    ,, orgueuil >> (ohr -GUEIL) is condescending pride, and pejorative.
    The mere fact that these two distinct word existroutinely, says that they make a big distinction about emotive issues, but both as good as bad and as bad as good.
    If you try to speak French, but are very limited, and your most broken effort genuinely shows through, they will likely light up like a Christmas tree in that joy they call > or Joy of Living.
    When I first came to Qurebec from Ontario as a boy of 11 years, nobody told me anything nearly adequate, but when, in technical school some years later, I visited one of the studsent activities, and a french man asked me if I spoke French, and I replied in the French I knew at the time, he did light up "like a Christmas tree". I have many more special memories of those years, so far back. An unexpected pleasant surprise!
    As for Toronto, from Montreal you could drive, but I would not recommend it. It's 6 hour 500 km. drive and not really the most exciting. Also, to avoid heavy traffic in Toronto, you would need to be on the road in Montreal no later than 7:30 AM.
    Better head down to Central Station and take the Via train. That will do the trip in more like 4 hours, and avoid Toronto's traffic.
    Arriving at Union Station in toronto about noon, you can find lots of restaurants in that immediate area, and get arount toronto by going undergraound to the Union Subway station and using the subway system whoich stretches for tens of miles. There's about 7 more bus companies that also work with all that, learn the colour system they use, and match that on the streets with the bus stop signs.
    You can also use Amtrak to get to Montreal. From Penn Station in NYC, take the Adirondack and it will get you to Montreal's Central Station.
    Amtrak services also will connect to Toronto fron NYC, and in joint service with VIA rail from Chicago.
    Videos of many of these are here on You tube.
    also take carteful note of expected weather from Enviornment canada as you go. Temperatures can have very large variations both from day to night and throughout the 4 seasons. I have known as low as 45 below and as high as 37 Celsius aat different times. That'as a HUGE difference and should be considered seriously.

      The uploader doesn't seem to realize that some pedestrians are disabled or elderly and can't sprint across the road, or that sometimes the middle of the block may actually be safer than the official crosswalk. At least that's how it is in some places when the city doesn't bother to clean the ice off the sidewalk on the corners, but the businesses elsewhere are more considerate. And moms with a lot of kids do take longer to get everyone across the road.

    I went to Montreal and Quebec City several years ago. I never had a better time. The culture is great! I was there in October and it was
    chilly, but being from Long Island it didn't bother me at all. Yes prices of clothing and items at the pharmacy were pricey as compared with the U.S. But the rate of exchange was .75 U.S cent to 1.00 CND so my money did go farther. Didn't have a problem with not speaking French as well as the locals. Everyone was
    friendly and polite. The public transportation is efficient and clean. The night life was great. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten. I cannot wait to travel to Toronto next year.

In the 70s he moved from Ireland to Toronto then after a few years of being heavily involved with unions the Canadian Post office offered to pay for him to study as a Lawyer so long as he would work for them for several years upon obtaining his degree. Considering he was from a working class family in a council house he did very very well for himself. Back in Ireland he would not have had the opportunities Canada gave him. Now he is living with his French Canadian wife in Ottawa and loving life.
