I agree, I was about to leave myself but then i got an electric scooter and started to explore the city more and wow, its got marinas, beaches, parks along the lake. The winters got warmer and the summers cooled off, its like a paradise for weather here now too, as far as 4 seasons go anyway. Just enough rain and sunshine mixed in. I had an urge to go back to LA but keep asking myself why, Toronto has everything, its just missing one thing, the magic. But thats for the people of the city to make.
Thank you for this amazing video about Toronto. I have already been to many major cities in many countries, and Toronto is my favorite city and Canada is my favorite country.

As a Torontonian, it sure is nice to jump on the GO for a daytrip/weekend to visit anywhere along the lines. $10 all you can ride on weekends and holidays, $15 each ride all day when in a group of at least 2 during the week. Peterborough and Niagara Falls to list a couple of places.

Interesting perspective about the weather in Toronto vs Saskatchewan. As an ex Canadian I agree with your list of reasons people choose to live in Toronto! Montreal would be in the running except for two reasons: language and the harsh winter. Of course, that’s somewhat compensated for by the underground city and the excellent metro but for many living on an island is an adjustment and the culture shock of living in a predominantly francophone society, means its not as immediately welcoming as Toronto. If Toronto weren’t insanely expensive, it would much bigger than its current size and in that regard, who knows what the future holds. Alina, thanks for your review of your favourite city in Canada, stay blessed and looking forward to your next video! 😊
Thank you! Yes, Montreal is a great city as well and you can get by with English, but if you don't speak French it really would be challenging because you're living in a Francophone province.

I had a friend who was a multi millionaire and lived in Toronto for most of his life. He had a beautiful home there and he told me that you really need to have a great deal of money to enjoy living there.
One of my relative families had been living in downtown Toronto for more than three decades, they just gave up pensions and sold all their properties then moved back to Hong Kong China three years ago, inflation, drugs, crimes and homeless were the main factors drove them doing so.
Interesting as three years ago none of those things were really brought up as glaring issues in Toronto except by non big city people, and they probably benefited a lot from the real estate prices having multiple properties.
@@froggerc625 They did, they owned around ten apartments and few shops in downtown. And about the first half part you mentioned, mate, I could only say you guys could really tolerate, I visited them in 2019 before covid for about a week after finishing my tour in the states, and I saw quite some homeless people on the streets everyday of that week, and also drugs problem was already quite severe, not as severe as in the US especially if you compare with Chicago and LA I would say, but definitely not something a citizen should not be worried about, in my opinion.
may have been a choice back then. not during, after covid, when china cracked down and imposed their commie rules. Rather druggies than living next to commies.
funny that in other youtube videos that show hong kong ppl wanting to flee hk and go to to other countries like the UK due to ccp in china cracking down on hong kong ppl. am i right or wrong on this?
I agree about the nature and food . Toronto also promotes ambition and positivity. If you work and live close to each other and have accommodation sorted it is pretty good However , traffic is a right off disaster and there is out of control crime including random TTC and street violence sometimes extreme random violence which I believe is because of growing poverty and mental health. Is it livable ? It all depends on your personal situation, income and accommodation. If you are a foreigner from second tier country I would say it’s incredible for opportunity but you’ll have to work 25 to 30 years long hours if you are starting from scratch . I miss Toronto but I couldn’t do the gta driving or work in the gta . I had to escape to the Georgian Bay region for 10 years to gain my sanity . Now I’m in Europe. In spit of everything I’d say “ never say never “ When it comes to returning to the big smoke Torono
I believe the rain stops overnight. The forecast of a sunny weather is tomorrow. It's good to live here since I'm not renting. It's worth investing in a property in Toronto. Before you know it, the value appreciates very well over the years. Everything is going up and I'm not bothered. I always look at the positive side. I L😍VE T😃R😃NT😍.
Toronto is definitely on my bucket list of cities to visit someday, I get the impression from your videos and others here on RUclips that it would be my kind of city for a creative person like myself where I could thrive and make good connections. I also don't own a car and I get around using public transport and walking so when you said Toronto has a good transit system, that gave it another plus in the book for me. Great video and also cool idea with making a Google Maps travel guide for people new to Toronto! :)
Toronto is a good place to live, if you can afford it. It's not about world-class tourist attractions; there are better cities for that. Although visiting nearby Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake (wine country) is great.
Alina, have you considered doing a video on different buildings/architecture in TO such as Casa Loma, the Flatiron Building, Osgoode Hall or a walk through The Path (underground city) or around U of T? .
Alina, Toronto will always have a soft spot in my heart❤ We have friends that still live there. Great Memories. Great Food. Great People. Perhaps, one day we could do a meet up there. Sending much love❤ from Washington DC Harriet, Jim and Yuki P.S. Hope all is well with your travel and visa documents
Lived in Toronto for 4 months also recently for 1 week tour family vacation. Lived in Calgary for 20 years. Now in Vancouver since 2017. For me Vancouver is the best. Good energy from mountain and ocean.
Yes, Toronto is a great city - I lived there for years when I was just out of university and still enjoy going back there to visit. But the cost/benefit analysis shifts when you get older and start a family. Then housing costs and good neighbourhoods are king, and the Arts scene is less important. My adopted city of Ottawa is much better for families and has a great balance of nature, culture, opportunity and affordability. After living in Ottawa for a decade I looked at jobs in Toronto and Vancouver (which I also love) but there is no way I could afford to live in either of those cities, and sacrifice so many of the benefits of living in Ottawa.
Don't know if it was on purpose or not (seems like it was), but, the pronunciation of Toronto in the editing kept me smiling throughout the vid. Shot of Toronto: pronounce it like a native Torontonian. Shot of other cities: pronounce it like someone not originally from there. Nice!
I'm born & raised in Toronto, and it'll always be 'Home', but I had to leave, and moved to Alberta. Not Calgary, but in the mountains. The cost of living in Toronto is ridiculous. Also, the vibe has changed. It's changed a little too much...in a direction I don't like. I'll always go back home to visit family & friends, but just like people in small towns outgrow their hometown, I guess I outgrew mine.
What do I miss about Toronto ? Casa Loma, which is basically a castle in the city ( CNE ) Canadian National Exhibition ( ROM ) Royal Ontario Museum. What I don't like about Toronto ? It's overcrowded, it's noisy, too much traffic. Always construction going on in the city which contributes to the noise sounds in Toronto.
You're just a Newfie, In a Calgary hat. (A medley I heard in 1986, sailing from St. John's, back down to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. On the ferry. No kidding🎉❤😊!
@@AlinaMcleod overcrowded, ferries out of service with mechanical issues as some really old ...even though its expensive water taxi is better especially coming back in the late afternoon
Hoi, Alina, pretty interesting and well done work, as usual. Saw a couple of places well known to me. Seven visits to Toronto are on the map here, flown mostly to Pearson but also BillyBishop, Toronto Island. Following you´re steps, you know. Greetings, Markus
Great video! Definitely made me happy about living here regardless of the outrageous rent price 😆 Quick question: do you shoot your videos on DJI Osmo Pocket 3? If so, do you shoot in Log and color grade later? Thanks!
As a Torontonian, I think my favourite cities include New York City and Singapore: New York City, when it comes to its opportunities and attractions and Singapore when it comes to its cleanliness, weather, attractions and public transport. Toronto is probably one of the cities I would rank near the bottom of the barrel, high cost of living, inefficient public transportation system, rising crime, and sometimes depressing weather.
Lived in Toronto for 2 years and visited periodically since. It certainly has the many good points you mention but has historically derived from what I will call a very 'straight laced' conservative past. In 1984 to 1986 the entire city shut down at about 12.30am. Can't go anywhere. Super hard to get home due to very limited bus transport, can't find any cabs anywhere. Forced to walk long distances in snow with freezing windchill effect. Taking 20 minutes to get the key in the door due to the cold numb hands, then putting your hands under hot water for 5-10 minutes to defreeze them. That was super weird and represented for me the conservative character of the city back then. Very stoic lot which is not a bad thing. Lacked vitality for me back then given a full on fun based Sydney upbringing of those days and then ventures over lots of Europe. Queen Street West best on offer as an arty/music/creative/lively area back then. The overall 'straight' edge lifestyle has changed somewhat now but for me cemented a general conservative attitude into the mindset of most living there. Sorry - but this impression has stuck with me. My experiences of Montreal is it is a lot livelier. Flying over Toronto these days it is amazing how large the urban area has extended.
haha I'm laughing at all the sufferers of Toronto derangement syndrome in the comments who are outraged that you dared to say that you consider it to be the best city in Canada. There are more positive comments though, which is nice to see. Good video, Alina.
Ha ha. San Jose fits almost all your criteria: vibrant downtown, very diverse neighborhoods, nature, job opportunity, decent transportation, relatively friendly people and culture/art. Best weather in the world: Jan. hi 60 low 43, July hi 84 and low 60. Very little rain. Now, has a lot of cheap and great housing, thanks to the city and state. It cool affordable housing for the artist downtown for only $800 a month.
I not been Tronno since I a wee lad. I visit a childhood friend. I have great memories of Tronno. I saw Sky Dome. I went on this cruise through some nice marshy area, I dont know. Niagara Falls is close by. It really is a beautiful city. A world class city. But it is has NYC prices and NYC problems.
My family lives in Toronto, insanely expensive, farr prefer Thailand, no comparison actually. Just got my DTV Visa for Thailand for my wife and I, 5 years, can't go wrong. Good luck with your Visa to Eastern Europe
I was living in Toronto, now I am in Regina. Toronto is the city with entertainment and food, but I think it is the most depressing city in Canada in this moment.
I agree that in terms of Canadian cities, Toronto is still the overall best choice. At the same time, I think that’s also why I want to spend a lot more time outside of the country. Toronto itself is far from ideal. The weather sucks (I get it, Saskatchewan is worse but Toronto weather still sucks), the traffic is horrendous, it’s too expensive for the value that it offers and the people are really not that friendly (yes they are polite but not a very strong sense of community, everyone kind of does their own thing or sticks in their own groups). I will agree with you on the food though, the food here is very good
TOOOO busy, TOOOO fast, TOOOO expensive...great for short term visits as I did many times when in Business. For a young person,,,maybe if they can afford to live there....thats my take on Toronto.

@@vincentnnyc It depends, on whether you wanna know the facts, or just something you prefer to hear.
I agree about the nature and food . Toronto also promotes ambition and positivity.
If you work and live close to each other and have accommodation sorted it is pretty good
However , traffic is a right off disaster and there is out of control crime including random TTC and street violence sometimes extreme random violence which I believe is because of growing poverty and mental health.
In spit of everything I’d say “ never say never “
When it comes to returning to the big smoke Torono
I believe the rain stops overnight. The forecast of a sunny weather is tomorrow. It's good to live here since I'm not renting. It's worth investing in a property in Toronto. Before you know it, the value appreciates very well over the years. Everything is going up and I'm not bothered. I always look at the positive side. I L😍VE T😃R😃NT😍.
I would love to take you to Dinner while you’re here as a thank you for getting me through some rough times…
Love u Alina ❤️
Watching from Australia
Toronto is definitely on my bucket list of cities to visit someday, I get the impression from your videos and others here on RUclips that it would be my kind of city for a creative person like myself where I could thrive and make good connections. I also don't own a car and I get around using public transport and walking so when you said Toronto has a good transit system, that gave it another plus in the book for me. Great video and also cool idea with making a Google Maps travel guide for people new to Toronto! :)
Don't bother, there not much to see
Thank you! I hope you get to visit sometime!
Toronto is a good place to live, if you can afford it. It's not about world-class tourist attractions; there are better cities for that.
Although visiting nearby Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake (wine country) is great.
All that glitters is not gold. Good luck. You will need it.
Alina, have you considered doing a video on different buildings/architecture in TO such as Casa Loma, the Flatiron Building, Osgoode Hall or a walk through The Path (underground city) or around U of T? .
I've covered those in some of my past videos but I'm not really an architecture expert!
Moved here last month! so far, so good :) are you here for a while?
Alina, Toronto will always have a soft spot in my heart❤ We have friends that still live there. Great Memories. Great Food. Great People. Perhaps, one day we could do a meet up there.
Sending much love❤ from Washington DC Harriet, Jim and Yuki P.S. Hope all is well with your travel and visa documents
Thanks guys! Would be lovely to meet you at some point! The visa documents are coming along but still have to wait a while for my appointment.
Yeah people choosing to have families becomes extremely costly in Toronto unfortunately. I have heard that Ottawa is a good alternative.
Hello Alina, I watch your videos to improve my English and I like Canada. It is the best combination.
I'm very happy to hear that!
Don't know if it was on purpose or not (seems like it was), but, the pronunciation of Toronto in the editing kept me smiling throughout the vid. Shot of Toronto: pronounce it like a native Torontonian. Shot of other cities: pronounce it like someone not originally from there. Nice!
lol it was not on purpose but I noticed it too when I was editing
@@AlinaMcleod Well, it's been said by many a filmmaker that the story is often found through the editing process. 🙂
Giant glasses always make the wearer look crazy.
Great video lovely! 😊
You're just a Newfie,
In a Calgary hat.
(A medley I heard in 1986, sailing from St. John's, back down to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. On the ferry. No kidding🎉❤😊!
very cool city I am from Michigan. that space needle is cool
Watching from Miami, Florida, USA 🇺🇲. Hope you can visit Miami one day, Alina 😎
Would love to!
@@AlinaMcleod If you ever get an opportunity, take a trip to Miami!
@@johngonzalez4298 lol my man wants to get it in eh 😁
I grew up there and what's so great about it? Way overpriced and overhyped.
We Love Toronto from Tehran, Iran 🇮🇷❤️🇨🇦
Thank You !!
I love going to Toronto Island except this summer the ferry issues were really awful ....hopefully next summer will be better
Oh really? I never heard about that, what was the problem?
@@AlinaMcleod overcrowded, ferries out of service with mechanical issues as some really old ...even though its expensive water taxi is better especially coming back in the late afternoon
Hello from beautiful Vancouver (-: Alina where are your sunglasses from? Love them! You're my fav Canadian travel vlogger btw!
Definitely made me happy about living here regardless of the outrageous rent price 😆
Quick question: do you shoot your videos on DJI Osmo Pocket 3? If so, do you shoot in Log and color grade later? Thanks!
Rent price is more extensive everywhere 👀
Thanks for sharing the video 👌
Went to the Toronto Islands yesterday. The city looks stunning from there. Sadly, I can confirm that things are expensive. Especially hotels.
The world is changing and Toronto still the best city , of course is expensive but still the best place in Canada 🇨🇦 I absolutely LOVE Toronto ❤
I love this video.Are you a Canadian?
Love your videos Alina, very informative, where are you moving please share, envy your life!🇨🇦❤️👍
haha I'm laughing at all the sufferers of Toronto derangement syndrome in the comments who are outraged that you dared to say that you consider it to be the best city in Canada. There are more positive comments though, which is nice to see. Good video, Alina.
great helpful information
Welcome back to TORONTO Canada 🇨🇦 😊❤🎉😮
Thank you so much!
Recorded horizontally:)
I will agree with you on the food though, the food here is very good
Thank you very much!
nice recorrido en toronto nice gente, restaurante, temperatura, areas verdes y te miras cool ! con tus gafas 😎❤ 😘
TOOOO busy, TOOOO fast, TOOOO expensive...great for short term visits as I did many times when in Business. For a young person,,,maybe if they can afford to live there....thats my take on Toronto.
I hope Canada will be affordable to live in near future, I really do. 🙏
Looks nice. I think I watched a video of yours last week where you described parts of Canada as a hellhole. Anyway, it's been a really long time since I've been to Toronto. Maybe next year.
I don't think I ever used the words 'hell hole' lol. Even if you like a place you can be honest and say things have gotten worse, but you hope it will get better.
@@AlinaMcleod Maybe I was exaggerating when I said hell hole. 🙂
