    You’re one reason to thank God for Nigeria. I’ve watched every 1 of your videos from UYO!!! & seen u make millions from the back of a camera, as you grow your cinematography and story telling has evolved from just entertainment to edutainment. You covered Canada better than an Anthony Bourdain would! Thanks for keeping it real & still believing in project Nigeria. For now you are a window to the world for thousands of Nigerians back home. Don’t worry about your million subscribers, your purpose is worth billions of dollars and eventually you would get there, organically and be given the keys to some major cities. On my visit to Canada, Toronto was so expensive that I decided to rent a car and stay in Bowmanville for the two weeks spent in Canada - it was worth it and cheaper than staying in Toronto. I drove to Niagara Falls and even crossed the border into Buffalo before heading to New York. Nothing can be compared to travelling and seeing things for yourself. However, if one does not have the luxury of time, money, or free movement (due to visas), Tayo Aina is the next best thing - he captures the cities/Countries like no other.

    Great video! Impressive. I love my country. The great news about taxes that wasn't stated very clear is that no one pays on the first 15,000, (you must still file for all kinds of monetary benefits for low income like carbon tax, GST rebates) then after that, the first level of tax is applied. If you make more money, over that first tier because our tax system is progressive you will pay that higher rate for only that amount over, It's not applied to the whole sum. Another way to explain is that your tax rate doesn't suddenly jump to the next level when you are $1 over the tax threshold, it would only be applied to the $1. Hope that clears it up for anyone wondering.

    Hello Mr. Aina, your video on Canada/Toronto was one of the best I have seen.
    It resonated with me. I want to remind new immigrants to Canada not to be discouraged by the high cost of living. When I moved from Trinidad to Toronto in the 80's, rent was easily 50% of my very small gross monthly income even though I lived in the GTA (Mississauga). I did most of my grocery shopping in the downtown Spadina Chinatown area as it was more economical. Chinatown was my saviour!
    If you are ambitious, you will learn to succeed despite the obstacles. Canada has been great to me. It is a country of freedom and love. Yes, there is the cold, the months of darkness and highly competitive job market. However, stay away from addictive substances that trap you. Instead have fun by exploring other job opportunities (skilled trades, farming etc.), join a community program such as music, do some volunteering and grow within.

It is because I have Mosi a Tunya which is more majestic and has been left untouched. You probably visited when it was drought season. They call it the smoke that thunders for a reason. Thank you for coming, having fun and experiencing the Canadian way of life (well a slice of it, because Canadian provinces are all very vastly different). Most importantly, thank you for giving me that feeling of pride again. It was gone because of this homelessness issue. Even if you yourself aren't unhoused, it's difficult to see people living that way and infrustructure going down. COVID tripled rents and food prices, pushing people out into the streets and new comers being caught up in this madness. Hopefully it will get better. PS it's still hot here. As a proud Canadian and former Torontonian. I’m glad you enjoyed a small bit of our country.
    You missed out visiting the Niagara region wineries
    For your friend from Ottawa, he should visit old Quebec City and Montmorency Falls.
    I hope you get to come back, we’re a huge country and mostly an accepting community. Every region/area is different from the next and unique experiences to be had .

    Canada has been unlivable for me, and after 15 years I'm leaving to the 3rd world for a simpler life. Once the honeymoon phase boils off, you'll see Canada for what it is... A place where it's impossible to dream of even the bare minimums in life - a house, a family / child (being too busy working and surviving), and long term leverage (being able to save). This is especially true if you fall in the category of someone who:
    1) has no generational wealth;
    2) single income household (unmarried);
    3) no family / friends to split costs, support, and help when in need.
    At the end of the day all the infrastructure, cleanliness, etc, means nothing if you simply existing on this planet is costing you precious time, money, and sanity. I'd rather live in an under-developed place where my money takes me far, gives me leverage, and buys me time to simply live out my finite existence in peace, without the crushing financial strain leading to a culture of constant restlessness and hustling. Canada could've been great... But if rents going up 220% in 7 years under the liberals with a 20% year-on-year rise doesn't raise sirens in your head, you got blindfolds / earplugs on.

      I am a Jamaican who made the trek to Toronto, Canada 8 years ago. After 2 years I returned to my country. In my country, I had a good job at a Canadian bank international bank. Stupid me , resigned my job leaving my new born son and wife who is well established in our country as a consultant doctor. We own our own home and cars in the Caribbean. After I completed my studies, it was hard to get a job in my field that would allow me to rent somewhere decent for my family. It is way too expensive to live in. The good thing is we never went together in Canada. My wife stayed back. After 2019 , I returned home with my education and got a nice job.

    I think the title of this video would be better if the word 'Canada' was replaced with 'Toronto'. Growing up just outside Toronto but now living in Vancouver, I think it's important to note that there is much more to Canada than Toronto. Canada is the second largest country in the world and it is very diverse, in so many ways. So when people in the video talk about their experiences in Canada, I would consider it more their experience in Toronto.
    Housing is expensive in Canada but once you leave Southern Ontario and the province of Ontario, housing prices are much lower in other parts of the country. Like most countries, the big cities are expensive to live in.
    And while winter can be cold in many parts of Canada, summers can be very hot, especially in Toronto and Southern Ontario. My mom regularly texts me in June, July and August to tell that the temperature is in the mid 30's C but with the humidity, it is in the 40's C.
    I hope that Tayo gets to travel to other parts of Canada to see how incredible and different this country is. The west and east coasts of Canada are especially spectacular.

    This video is about Toronto and not the rest of Canada. I live in Toronto. You covered only downtown Toronto. There are many different areas of Toronto. There is mid town, uptown, North Toronto and of course east and west. Each area is different. Because it is so multicultural here there are many different ethnic neighborhoods, for example Little Jamaica, Greektown etc. There is also the University of Toronto downtown which is beautiful. We have a huge park called High Park. We have the Harbourfront and Center Island tha you take a ferry to. It has a beach. We even have an area in the east of Toronto that is called the Beaches area. There is a restaurant in midtown in the Manulife building on the 52nd floor. You can see the panorama of Toronto while you eat or have drinks. It;s beautiful. Prices of homes and condos started rising around 2017. Before then the prices of homes were half or less of what they are now. There are a lot of homeless people here. Not only because of high rent but mainly because of mental illness. Before 2017ish Toronto was a totally different place. Less crime and homelessness. It has changed a lot. In the summer there are so many outdoor events. Many cultural ones.

    I was born in Toronto, raised my children in Mississauga and work in healthcare.
    This video does NOT tell the story of the average, working, taxpaying homeowners' experiences living in Toronto/GTA.
    Approx. 40-45% of one's salary is lost to taxes and various user fees.
    A lot of people are living with credit so they APPEAR to be managing.
    Transportation has lofty goals but uses A LOT of taxpayer dollars. Public education is struggling to keep up with demand (mostly from immigrant children saturating certain school boards).
    Healthcare is running a huge deficit with a trained worker shortage and very long wait times for service. Many of the homeless are mental health patients/military vets who have difficulty accessing health services and/or affordable housing. Other homeless, including families, indigenous and new immigrants, are in short and long term shelters.
    Interesting that a portion of this video was filmed during TIFF. Many of the attending actors commented on the slow moving traffic that rivals the notorious traffic in L.A. I've watched pedestrians walk past my car for blocks and reach their destination before I can even exit off that same street.
    As a tourist destination, yes.
    To live...not so much.
    One of my children went to another province another went to England. I'm trying to figure out where, outside of the GTA, I will retire. Yes, all the conveniences and thrills are here but the nothing else.
    Expensive, overcrowded, noisy, dangerous, selfish, so ethnically diverse that foreign conflicts have now become part of the local culture.
    Toronto/GTA is no longer "the good".
