CHiPs is one of the primary reasons I became a CHP Officer in 1982. Got to meet the cast and crew on several occasions and assisted with the CHiPs 99 reunion. Robert Pine, AKA Sgt. Getraer, was my favorite character. Spent the majority of my 30 year career as a sergeant. Still run into Erik Estrada at CHP events. A big thank you to Rick Rosner for bringing the series to life.

Was a kid in my early teens watching CHiPs and I later became a state CID agent but was in patrol initially. This show means the world to me. Now in my retirement life I work part time with a group of retired LEOs and we keep CHiPs on during the daytime. Talk about full circle. Thanks for this content

I was 15 when this show aired. I became a Deputy Sheriff in 1981 and I was fortunate enough to do my last six years on the seat of a Harley Police Motor. Yes, I wore the blonde gloves that Wilcox wore. Only chased one car on the Motor, it's not like in the movies or on tv as it scared the crap out of me. I just bought a 2013 retired BMW from Hollywood Motors, it is a former LA County Sheriff's Office Motor. I am older and now I just want to relax and enjoy riding again. This was a great show for its time, love to see it come back with the same integrity that it had back then. We need it now more than ever in this world. Yes, Brianne Leary is still as pretty as she was on the show.

Loved this show. I saw Erik Estrada at a conference in Monterey, Ca. A week ago. He's a very cool person and shared some of his life story with the crowd. I enjoyed it tremendously. Sadly I wasn't able to connect with him before he left. I wanted a picture with him! Many thanks to the Cast and Crew of CHiPs for the great childhood memories. Growing up and watching this show was one of the reasons I became a cop 20 years ago.

Robert Pine once drove by with his dad in my hometown. Me and a friend were sitting on a stone wall when he made a U-turn. We noticed him as he started to head the opposite direction and I just blurted out, "Hey Sarge!" and we got a wave back. His dad lived in Pawling, N.Y. at the time in the70's & 80's.

I remember finding red lights and old CB mic, tapping then to my bike to be like chips. They are right. Back them the CHP was "cool". Growing up in northern Cali he freeways look the same as in SoCal and of course the cho had the same bikes, etc so it was like it was happening right outside. And man those crazy police chases and stunts would have you in awe in front of the TV on Saturdays.

Sue, thank you for organizing this event and sharing it with us old fans. CHiPs was a classy show with a classy cast, most of whom were in attendance here and a pleasure to see again after all these years. Regret not getting to see Erick too but I certainly don't hold it against him for declining to attend. We're fortunate, given how long ago the series aired, that the entire cast is still alive and well. This was one of my all time favorite series and I was 29 when it first aired. As a professional truck driver for 46 years (minus a 4 year enlistment in the Marines which included 2 trips to Vietnam) I well related to the realism of the show and it's positive image of a Vietnam veteran, which was not at all common at the time. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

I always thought it was interesting that for a show airing in the late 1970s, the bit about Jon's service in Vietnam (as reflecting Larry Wilcox's real-life service) was always played down. The wounds wouldn't heal until The Gulf War and I thought it was great that the Army allowed VN War veterans to march in the homecoming parade!
To you, MAL, I say: "welcome home"!

I've always been a fanatic of Emergency! But I remember the episode of CHiPs where Ponch and Baker helped two pretty ladies in an MGB. Right at the end of the scene, the camera cut to the side of the road. There sat Squad 51 from Emergency!, helping another motorist. I thought that was a good touch, an homage to remind us of Gage and DeSoto.

I did volunteer fire fighting completing a couple of state Academy courses...but I was always impressed with CHiPs and as I said the show was in a class of its own...kudos to Officers Baker and Ponch for their screen work...Thanks for the flash back.

I was born in 1975 and somewhere around age 3 stumbled on an abandoned bedroom with a tv on a dresser. CHiPs was on and it blew me away.
I sat there for the whole episode, with jaw dropped. The show set a standard in an impressionable mind and the bar was set really high.
I learned about Los Angeles by watching CHiPs. I had not heard of such a place until then.
Eventually by age 4 or 5 The Dukes of Hazzard premiered, and I was primed by previously being a fan of CHiPs and these 2 shows had several similarities.
In the mind of a child, the vehicles were the stars of the show. And back then, elaborate action/chase sequences like the ones used in episodes were more of a Hollywood movie thing rather than being a component to a weekly TV show.
It was really groundbreaking for a TV show to have a 4 door clunker tumbling and doing a cartwheel down the highway. Emergency never went to those levels of practical stunts with cars being launched 200 yards down a road while screechibg upside-down on it's roof while a jack knifed semi truck skids out of control.
CHiPs was state of the art. The characters in that show will never die and the cast will never be forgotten.

I used to run home from school so I could get home in time to watch CHIP'S, followed by Emergency. I absolutely knew that when I was old enough, that I would either be a CHP officer, or a fireman...I'll retire next year as a paramedic fireman. I tested with both agencies. Fire ultimately was what came first. Those two shows motivated many in my generation to pursue a career in one or the other.

Being born in '74, I didn't remember but maybe half the original episodes but seeing it again on MeTV in re-runs brought back a smile of how good this show really was. And how good the very few NBC's that were good in the CHiPS era actually were. 30 Rock did a Larry Wilcox cameo as Liz Lemon's TV crush but it was actually Tina Fey's as well when she was growing up in Philly. I knew Erik had a bad accident on set but I never realized he was that close to death. Wilcox being in the military and having grown up and returned to a cattle ranch in his native state of Wyoming was what made him a tough but humble individual. Lou Wagner and Robert Pine's characters were very good too. The female ensemble led by Randi Oakes and Brianne Leary made the show top-notch. Both having to put up with those guys was quite a feat. One of the best shows on TV and still is.

    I’m from Brazil.

Most people are aware of that, thanks. Erik decline to attend. Randi was supposed to be there but had a last minute family obligation come up. Clarence Gilyard is a drama professor and classes had just started for the semester. We weren't able to find Tina and frankly no one was interested in having Tom Reilly there due to the damage he caused to the show.

I was at a Trek Convention as a kid in Austin, Tx, and got the chance to ask Michael Dorn an audience question; I of course being a smart ass, totally disregarded Trek and asked him about CHiP's and a possible reunion. Ha ha, the Trekkies in the audience were confused!! At the time he laughed and said he hoped not. Guess times change attitudes!

Huge fan of this series to this day. had full version of both the Original KZ1000-P (still in my garage) and had the BMW R1150RTP in Chips 99. Saw them filming Chips 99 in San Dimas 100ft away from where I worked at the time on the un-opened I-210. Even sent a full on CHP bike to Scotland (my brother was a fan) and to Japan to the CHP club.

CHiP's was required watching when I was a kid. I didn't realize it then but one of the reasons I loved this show was because the police always helped people - REALLY helped them, and without always threatening folks with arrest or physical violence. They never shot people up and CHiP's was a show that actually made kids and those in their 20's WANT to become a cop, which today is the one thing NOBODY wants to be anymore because today's police are generally mean spirited people. This issue is a two-way street, but sadly today police are too heavy handed and will go straight into a violent response rather than talk to you. Today's police are much more militarized than ever before and this is the reason law enforcement is the LAST thing most people would consider doing today, and it seems those who DO want to be a cop are people who like hurting others. CHiP's portrayed the police as being genuinely nice people, which, sadly is often not the case anymore :>\
