I've used their cameras in every situation, and it's worked out very well. These cameras make you better at the craft of operating a cinema camera. You get better, you learn and your footage is impeccable, what else do you want? Thanks for this video!

I don't think it will, they are marketing this towards professionals who don't usually care about autofocus.

While the price is the main draw, what its missing is glaring. Those hyping it up without experiencing it on a paid shoot may find themselves regrettably coming back down to Earth. I believe DM will take the tempeture of this offering and use the feedback to create the Pyxes Pro that should have build in ND, 15 stop range, 4K at 60 or even 120fps and 14 and maybe even 16 bit internal recording. With those upgrades, those hyping up the price of the Pyxis will also hype up a $4K to $5K price.

No! NDs and Autofocus Is nice to have. And not being forced to shoot raw.

Umm that camera is $10k. This is $3k
3k but once you dress it up- nd filter, rail mounts, memory, battery, lens- you’re looking at 6-7k. Lens alone might run couple grand.

Why they didn't put the built in NDs ? For 500$ more it would be a beast.
because The Internal ND's on the 6k pro sucks and they removed it in favor of Full Frame censors and Lecia L mount.... and Imma be real. Leicia L mount and full frame > Internal ND that is prone to breaking any day of the week.

This is not wild. BMD does not improve dynamic range, does not imporve image sensor, does not improve frame rates or read-out speed. BMD create "dreamed" box camera but with no flip-up screen and no NDs. It`s not fail, PYXIS have the place on the market but WE WANT THIS CAMERA WITH FLIP-UP SCREEN, INTERNAL NDs AND FASTER SENSOR WITH SLIGHTLY BETTER DR. Take my money if it will cost 50% more than original PYXIS.
What BMD do really perfectly is new URSA. Believe or not, new 12K and "IMAX" 17K should be a dream for production companies. BMD offer whole bunch of accessories for the best production and post-production workflow on the planet Earth right now. Cine URSA is really something special for only 15K (it`s like for gratis for big production companies).
Here is the thing, I think people need to stop, pause and think before buying a new camera. This looks like a good camera, but stop and think about what you have. Three grand is good value, but don’t buy for the sake of it.
Here is the other thing, People are buying it because they have been begging forty years for BMD to release a box style camera including myself and guess what I got my preorder in and for those who don't want it then don’t buy it.

It’s only “game changing” if you haven’t used a good box camera before. No internal ND, no prores, no 4k60 with full sensor, no screen you can actually use, and no interchangeable mounts (although I think this is coming?) it’s not that great. Get a zcam f6 with bmassist and you will have many more options.

I’m pretty disappointed that it still only has 5 Gbit/s USB-C and hasn’t been upgraded to at least 10 Gbit/s.
@@jacklansley7655 That’s just incorrect. The practical maximum you can transfer over USB-C 5 Gbit/s is 450-470 MB/s. Blackmagic themselves list for the Pyxis 6k for example BRAW Q0 6048 x 4032 (Open Gate 3:2) up to 444 MB/s at 24 fps - but the camera can do 36 fps here. Even my vanilla Pocket 6k can get chocked by USB-C 5 Gbit/s, tested it a lot with enterprise SATA SSDs that do 530 MB/s write from 0 to 100 % used storage.

most Boxed cameras are designed in a way where they expect you to provide your own external monitor. No one's actually gonna use that Tiny ass screen on the Red Kamodo other then to look at the menus.

The argument for a box camera is stupid. Literally folks could've had the URSA and URSA minis all these years.
Thank you, it’s literally the silliest request ever. People will describe all the specs of a Komodo or fx6 and be like “if only black magic made that” like the ursa isn’t comparable to those cameras. Now we have a box and not one day in we’ve got “it’s sort of to long/ i don’t like how you really need a monitor to make it work completely”you tube critiques like if these jokers didn’t by the Panasonic bsg1 and a video assist why would they buy a pixsis. But here we go, it’s finally being delivered and now the generic complaints of needing a cage, monitor, handles, drop in ND, and accessories to make it work can filter in. High hopes for the life cycle of the ursa cine though.
It sucks that you gotta get a External SDI monitor. (Thank god the black magic assist dropped in price) But The new form Factor is a mega win especially when it comes with it's own mounting plates you can switch out. No more cages! Finally you can Rig out the camera with a Vmount and not comprimise the Form factor/functionality. It absolutely sucked ass trying to Rig a V mount battery on the pockets/6k FF because the screen placement. Most external monitors I tried on the pockets don't show the menu system so the screen placement of the camera made it Extremely Inconvenient With external batterys.

I’d honestly pay a little extra for a G2 with internal nd. As much as I wanna jump on this thing, it could be worth holding out a bit longer.
So I'm the only one that's remarkably disappointed? I wanted a Mini URSA with a full frame for another $2000-$3000. Instead we get a camera that costs $9000 more than the ursa mini and is twice the size. It's a camera that will fit on almost no gimbal and will be a massive beast to shoot handheld. We finally get a box camera and again, no internal ND filters. I guess I'm the only one that bought a bunch of 6k pro cameras and said I'm never buying another camera without internal ND as long as I live. I'm not going back to variable ND. I'm not going back to screwing filters on. I'm not going back to ND filters that make everything green. I'm not going back to $450 filters that break because they're literally just big pieces of glass. I'm not going back to spending 2 minutes to change out a ND filter on a run n gun shoot. Man fuck these cameras.

My guy, a mini ursa for $3k? I mean there’s nothing wrong with hopes and dreams and wishes, but you have to be realistic about what you are going to get for $3k. You are expecting a Ursa for $3k. These is no box camera that has internal ND for $3k ANYWHERE. The 6k pro does have internal ND but it’s also a super35 sensor, not full frame, and not in a modular design.
You misunderstood me, I means for $3k more than the super 35 12k ursa, which is $6k. So I’m saying a $9k mini ursa with full frame, that’s what I wanted instead of an oversized $16k camera.

Am I the only one who do not give a shit about Internal ND'S? Espcailly the ones in the 6k pro? Those things are Prone to breaking and not the best. Full frame censor and Lecia L mount over Internal ND's any day of the week.
