Hopefully timecode will work well with my Mix Pre 3 II.
Yo, get the L mount then get an EF adapter. L mount is getting more popular, someone is going to make a drop in filter set. And if not then you just gotta spend an extra 200 for a EF to L adapter. They make positive locking adapters.
yep, that's what I'm doing as well. The Sigma EF to L mount works great on the current FF6K. You get way more options (with the shorter flange distance) for only a little extra money. L mount can adapt almost anything.

That is why you should go with the L mount version, that is the only way you can have rear drop in filters plus you have access to the very good and excellent Cooke SP3 and the Zeiss Nano lenses which are not available in EF or PL mounts.

A right side handle **with a strap**. This is one of the most under-appreciated bits of kit in hand held or shoulder mounted rigging. A strap on the handle allows you to relax your hand while still stabilizing the camera letting gravity rather than grip strength and stamina do most of the work. In my case I have had some Ursas along the way and already own a couple of those side handles, but there are third parties who make them as well. And keep in mind, even if the handle happens to have a run/stop button that doesn’t mean you need to power or connect it. Any handle can…just be a handle.
Why are you and people in the comments trying to justify buying this camera? I don't understand and hear me out. The URSA Cine at 15 thousand dollars seems expensive compared to the 3 thousand dollar PYXIS, so I thought. But after you add up everything you need to make the PYXIS an actual usable camera, you are going to be close to 10 thousand dollars. I think someone will make it and make bucket loads of money if they do it well.
I dont understand how you intend to use an RF to EF mount adapter with drop-in filters on an EF mount camera? Buying the EF mount ensures you cannot use adapters like this. If one existed you would completely lose infinity focus and the lens would be only be able to close focus. That's why people would recommend to buy the L mount version. Even though currently as far as I know, there are no drop in filter adapters for EF to L mount. They only exist for RF mount. The potential exists for them though. Something to seriously consider before going for the locking EF mount version.

I've seen many claim that the power connector for the PYXIS camera is the same of previous BM Cinema Cameras. Furthermore on the BH listing for the Blackmagic Design 12V Power Supply for Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (30W) claims to have compatibility with the PYXIS. Although I have noticed that based on photos and videos of the PYXIS the locking lug on the PYXIS is in-line with the pins whereas previous connectors, the Pocket 4K for example, the locking lug is perpendicular to the pins. Furthermore I've noticed that the end of the older cinema camera power adapter cord is female, but the power input on the PYXIS itself is female too. Does this mean the PYXIS will have a new power connector type?
If you like the wooden handles, 8sinn make a super cool wooden rosette side grip, its a little pricier but looks sweet. that, the kondor blue wing grip and tiltas wooden side grips are my favs so far

The whole intent of a box camera is to build out and rig the camera with additional accessories. Usually they aren't intended for your typical run-and-gun filming, so it wouldn't be good for your purposes. I work in a production environment and am looking at the PYXIS for its riggable-ness. It's very much not a camera you can just slap a lens on and film with (although I suppose you could).

Yeah it's BP-U only. BP-U to V-mount adapters exist, but little information exists on their reliability. I know Tilta has one, but it's for the FX6 with a typical DC power connector (which wouldn't work on the PYXIS, which uses a 2-pin LEMO connector).

@@initialfocus get the L mount version :) it opens you up to adapting anything, getting drop in filter adapters. It’ll allow you to potentially move into PL should you decide. The Sigma MC-21 is great, it even has mounting holes at the bottom of you want to mount it to some sort of support for better stability.
@@jockturner1547 yep! I use the Sigma MC21 adapters on my work FF6Ks… works great! L mount is WAY more flexible.
I think there are adapters from BP-U to V-Mount

I’ll have to double check but I too believe it’s the same connector as previous pocket cameras.
Bro we love you and your wife! Say hi to her!
I’m sorry if this has already been asked but, why wouldn’t you go with a V-Mount battery?
Probably more bulk. Why do that when BP-U will get the job done with no additional heft? Especially on a gimbal...
Come on Michelle, keep doing it well
I use my top screen on the Komodo all the time Michael😂
Dammit Brandon! You can’t make me sound wrong! How dare you!
@@initialfocus love you ❤️
If you like the wooden handles, 8sinn make a super cool wooden rosette side grip, its a little pricier but looks sweet. that, the kondor blue wing grip and tiltas wooden side grips are my favs so far
I have the BMPCC6K and enjoy it. But I dont see what all the hype of a box is? I can see where when traveling abroad that I will be looked at and denied entry to many locations. Ive been asked if I have a permit in London and Rome with my previous set up. Now I have it scaled down for traveling.
Hey Michael, I hear no-one talking about the top handle? Does the Pyxis come with that? I don't see it on the what's included list and ca't find it on the BMD site. Grtz
Nope. The PYXIS dosen't get shipped with it. That's the new URSA Cine Handle (which works on the PYXIS as well) but unfortunately there aren't any informations of this handle online.. yet. I guess if the new URSA Cine is gonna shipped, they'll released it
Just get an FX6
Solid camera, one of the worst menu OS’s I’ve ever seen though can’t stand it.
@@initialfocus can’t have it all but you’ll get so much more of a camera for not so much more money once you kitted out that Blackmagic to be honest.
Haha! They took their old football shape camera and put it in a plastic box, charge more and called this an upgrade 😂! Wait where is the joker..!? 🤭
….not plastic but you’re showing your skills to actually look into it so good luck to ya

Nice video. Exactly what I was looking for. Pls help - I ordered the EF mount version. Should I change it? The L mount seems to be the more popular advise. I own no cine lenses so would be buying. However, I am also minded about cost of lens brands. Would prefer to start with something affordable initially then possibly upgrade later. Thank you.
Id go for L! 🙏
@@LucaHalma I later swapped for L. Thanks, Luca.
Whe love you Michelle
So the Sony batteries are the only power option? No option for V or gold mount?
Yeah it's BP-U only. BP-U to V-mount adapters exist, but little information exists on their reliability. I know Tilta has one, but it's for the FX6 with a typical DC power connector (which wouldn't work on the PYXIS, which uses a 2-pin LEMO connector).
