Guys, these are just excuses and procrastination tricks your mind is using to avoid doing the things that actually matter, like making movies, short films, and videos!
The 5 reasons: 1) No screen rotation 2) Missing the HDMI port 3) Annoyed by block button locking record button 4) Rolling Shutter 5) Lack of internal ND’s
The next version needs this. I also think 8k would have been better. 2025 is around the corner. This camera reminds me on the BMCC 2.5K i got at launch. Same vibe. But they need to fix/add things and make it a bit more expensive.
@@a5pictures They have, but this is supposed to be the compact box form factor. They put 6K in the product name for a reason. Next year everyone wants to upgrade to the Pyxis 8K. Sure it's not a problem, but rather unfortunate.
1. Most box style cameras come with terrible tiny screens because for this style of cameras it is an afterthought, but BM went above and beyond to bring a big side screen. That is a huge pro, not a con. 2. It has SDI, which is superior in everyway. 3. It is by design! when you're out in the wild there are scenarios that will make you want to lock all the buttons INCLUDING the record, ESPECIALLY the record button because if you accidentally hit it, you're losing footage that you won't be able to shoot again. 4. Big whoops, for the price it is expected, it's not that bad. Most people who complain about rolling shutter only do so because the are looking for it. There are tons of movies with visible rolling shutter that won't take you away from the movie. 5. It's an under $3k camera ffs, you can't win it all. for the price you're getting a camera that stands shoulder to shoulder with an Arri Alexa in most scenarios and these YT idiots compain about the most insignificant things.
For the HDMI to USB-C monitor, you CANNOT use USB-C to HDMI-to-HDMI adapter to monitor, it has to be direct, HDMI to USB-C no interconnections interfering. You have that exact problem, remove the adapter and get a USB-C to HDMI Direct, and you fix it. Source: I daily use this method with my Portkeys LH7P.
1. Screen rotation: BM will fix this soon. 2. HDMI: Nope not needed at all. 3. Lock settings toggle: BM will also fix this one soon. 4. Rolling shutter: Can be easily fixed in seconds with DaVinci Resolve Stabilization -> Mode: Camera Gyro. 5. Internal NDs: You don't really need them. You have more creative freedom without them. Internal NDs would not beat or be as flexible as the NiSi True Color Swift System VND and would also not be better than having a NiSi Athena Prime lens with drop-in blades. These 5 issues are all minor and BM will fix two of them soon. The upcoming Pyxis monitor will make this camera even better and should be shipping around November 20th. Nope, I'm super happy with my Pyxis L-mount and I am glad I decided not to buy a Komodo-X. I've seen side-by-sides of the BM vs Komodo and BM has the better color and skin tones than the Komodo. For the same picture and harsher colors, the extravagant price of a Komodo doesn't make any sense.
As far as HDMI from the front USB-C port. It was recommended to use a Thunderbolt 3 cable. It has the DisplayPort functionality, power up to 100W and can output 4K @ 60fps. Thunderbolt 3 cables quality are more consistent across brands than regular USB-C cables too. Hope this helps.
nothing has been said in this video , reflect the use of this camera for its purpose. but I understand lately all the RUclipsrs need engagment and I am helping here . Stop complaining about rolling shutter !!! what the heck you guys going to do with camera whip pan all the time and even so just watch Michael bay movies ... ND,s omg stop this bullshit . If you want to race on a track with a formula one car do not get a rally one. We do not get offended but we start to realize the non sense of a lot of this videos and reviews. Btw Blackmagic did the best and really nailed it the position of a non swivel monitor ! Michael do not gettin, personal 😜
On ND : Its just to shows how much the Ronin 4D is incredible.. Such a TINY sensor block with Full Frame / Mirrorless AND Hardstops ND.... Insane tech.
No camera is perfect, but this one is very good. Depends on your need you can now RIG it without a problem. I did a PYXIS RIG build Production camera style . Check it out.I found HDMI adapters that work.Cheers! Thanks for sharing!
No popular brand names. There’s usbc to HDMI cables without adapting. All my usbc to HDMI adapters already owned worked, including a Nintendo usbc to HDMI. They’re all cheap but work good. Don’t know how to share the info with you. But if you can check out the last video on my channel it should have these options.
Hey Michael, in regards to your problem with the HDMI input. This maybe a stupid question, but I made this mistake before cuz I used the same port key monitor, did you switch the input setting in the monitor’s setting back to HDMI?
@@initialfocusI’m sure you’re using an information cable for it not a charging usb cable right? At least I know red you have to use a very specific cable for it.
all complaints go to blackmagic so they can fix it. damn how many videos do we need to see about issues?? quite sure they are working out the bugs from numerous complaints, all I see are complaints and no real productions. you always wait at least 6 months to a year before purchase so by then all bugs are worked out. your pretty much the tester for the new camera so direct your videos to them so they can be on it. now for other people who don't like the camera, sell or give it away or sffu and film with it.
the lack of internal ND is baffled me. if they can squeezed one into the pocket, why can't into the pyxis. if price the reason, I can't even afford the pocket or the pyxis, with or without the IND
You're baffled by a $3,000 camera that doesn't have internal ND's when the nearest cameras to the PYXIS that does costs twice as much and more. Got it.
@@initialfocusthe 6k pro has both a smaller sensor (which means it can use smaller filters) and the body around the sensor in that camera is bigger than the Pyxis. The Pyxis has a significantly larger sensor AND less area around the sensor to have filters move up or down out of the way. It’s really not that complicated.
You have more creative freedom without them. Internal NDs would not beat or be as flexible as the NiSi True Color Swift System VND and would also not be better than having a NiSi Athena Prime lens with drop-in blades.
With due respect, camera is not the star of any movie, music video, short films or commercials. I've shot over 10 feature films with various cinema cameras. Shot my first film in 1995. And camera is a tool used to tell a story, period. If you want vertical camera, why not use your iPhone? You're pretty big on using those, aren't you? Complaining about a cinema camera not able to shoot vertical videos for TikTok or IG story is crazy to me. Blackmagic have spoiled a lot of you RUclips and content creator guys. If you are not making movies or commercials or music videos, this camera is not for you, sir. Lastly, it's a $3k camera but you all want it to do what a $60 - $100K cameras does. Smh...it's wild to me.
Congrats on all those features. Sounds like a truly awesome career! You’re not necessarily wrong about anything you’ve said. I will say though that I too work in the real “pro” world and not just a sit behind a desk RUclipsr. I understand it’s just a tool and some of these points may sound petty like vertical flips. My only response really is either it’s feedback I’ve gotten from commenters or DMs to pass on to BM or just some not so deep thoughts. If BM never releases an update to flip the screen you won’t hear anymore complaints from me. If some new sensor comes out that has horrible patterned noise like they used to then sure both you and I will be speaking up about that hah! Appreciate the feedback.
The sensor is SO out of date. That’s why I sold my two BMCCs and canceled my Pyxis order. Open gate doesn’t matter given the awful rolling shutter and the very poor low light performance. If all your filming is locked down interviews or narrative in well lighted spaces I guess it’s an okay camera. But if you have to do run and gun in the real world I’ll pay the up-charge for an FX6 every time.

This is an actual cinema camera. It is not made for vertical shooting. It is not a TikTok video camera.

I spent $26k on a V raptor with no NDS

2000 years from now, nobody will be satisfied by the new cameras, now I'm thinking what Kubrick will do?
