- I would have never believed this guy when I was a teenager. I would think he didn't have a real stutter, not like mine. Of course it's easy for you to talk about stuttering. You don't really know it.
But I am that guy. I made it to the other side. I don't think about it that often...but man, I came a long way.
If you're where I was, I know you can too.
Stew!! Thank you for sharing your story. I remember some things, but I am very sorry and surprised to hear it got worse in high school.
As a teacher now, I certainly feel I need to be aware of this, at least giving students a chance to present work to me privately if not in front of the class. I am glad to hear your words and advice - kind of about tough (but protected?) love to similar students. It's hard, but encouraging to hear!
Thank you, Geoff!
It's definitely hard. If you're easy on your students with their speech, they'll love you today, but perhaps realize it wasn't helpful when they're older. If you force them to present today, they will hate you today, but perhaps value your tough love later. You've got great judgement, so I know you'll make the right calls with your students.
Awesome to hear from you as always!
I am the same I couldn’t talk before my 28 years I was very stutter, I finished Cinematography film school at 32 and I was told by some producers that I must conquer stuttering if I was planning to work in the business, DPs need to talk, now I am in my 50s I did conquer Stuttering but I still stutter, is just that i am a Master hidding it, I am a very popular DP in Mexico and now I live in Spain I want to conquer cross borders, if I have to start again this will be perfect for me is a crazy world I like to push myself
