I had a stuttering problem since my childhood It ruined my whole life I was continuously bullied because of it and it was a major problem for me ever since I'm 19 now and have spent my whole life to find a perfect technique how to overcome stuttering and talk fluently and in a flow(my stuttering was caused due to my habit to speak fast) ive found a perfect technique which works perfect for me after
    1) Take enough breath before starting speaking (the most obvious trick but works)
    2) Imagine words u speak (try to imagine each and every work)
    3) say each word in breath, for beginning practice to talk in whisper voice and then try to add your sound along with breath to it,throw ur breath outside ur mouth for every word.
    hope it helps :)

You don't even know me and you read me spot on!! Yep... I do play it safe - day in and day out. I fear the negativity and void it at all costs. After 27 yrs, I've finally grown tired of this ride and wanna get off. Today, I will make that change happen, and then tomorrow and the next day as so on. Life is way to short to have something so "stupid" hold you back from your dreams.

it takes time, don't put any extra pressure on yourself.... you'll get better with your speech as you work at it... don't avoid pressure situations..... those will build your confidence.

For most people who stutter, it doesn't go away naturally. I'm not saying for all, but most. I'm working towards fluency with the McGuire Programme and it works like a charm for me. This program really does help for stutterers, like myself, and promotes to get yourself out of your comfort zone and face your inner demons.

Thanks to you Sam along with all the usual suspects; Jim, Tony et al, my speech is becoming fluent after decades of frustration, my confidence has gone through the roof, I even joined a local public speaking club recently and gave my first 8 minute speech last week, and in your words I crushed it ... When I tell them at the club I used to stutter I can see it in their faces ... Bull@&£t.
    Thanks again mate!

i would like to talk to you one day. please, when you have time let me know. i have a stuttering problem that i know for sure that i can stop but i keep doing it because i don't stop building those layers of fear. i keep storing scenerials to where i stutter to my memory and i alway tell my brain that i am going to get stuck on a certain word and i do. sometimes i just feel that i need to go to the top of a mountain and scream out all of my bad memories and start all over. i need to be free from this and i know that i can.

I am a person who stutters and I have to say the modeling technique did work for me. However, in a way you are not you when you talk. You are impersonating someone that is confidant and doesn't stutter, and you are "tricking" your brain. I stutter tremendously when I'm stressed and stuttering is one of the causes. I graduated from TAMUK with a bachelor's of science in communication science and disorders. I was inspired to be a Speech Language Pathologist because I also had speech therapy and thought it was a great career to make a difference and make a good living. Best part is you can work anywhere including hospitals! I learned more about speech language pathology and I was amazed how people with aphasia and apraxia have motor and neurological speech disorders. I felt this was a calling for me, because I wanted to work in a medical setting and I'm very familiar with communication disorders since I had to live with a stutter my whole life. Anyways I wanted to say I thought your video was great and I'm glad you don't stutter anymore! I'm still struggling with mine, it comes and goes but for some reason it comes back at me more when I'm having an interview on the phone. The struggle of being a person who stutters is real lol!

Have been stuttering for at least 10 years. 24 years of age.
Whenever i stutter, im getting so mad on myself, cause why do i stutter? Why does i do this? (im the only in my family that does stutter
Im feeling so uncomfortable with myself when it happens!
Im currently working as a chef in an airport, and people see me as a quiet person , I dont talk much , cause my stuttering is a tough pain for me .
If it someday will dissapear , that would be great!
Allmost every time i talk i use small lines of words, cause every time i gets into a longer conversations, i know i will stutter! (i can just feel it comming) And it makes me feel so uncomfortable
Never rly talked about this topic with any stutters,
Some advice which is working for other people, would be great to know about.

You have to stop being so negative about it. The more you hide it the more you run the worse it gets.
What I learned from a course on stuttering was to just say it. Tell people when you talk to them "hi my name is _______ I stutter" I always do that now.
It gets rid of the tension, the anxiety. They all know so it's no big deal anymore nothing to hide and nothing to run from.

I come from a family that stutters
My grandad stutters, my father stutters, and all his brothers stutter.
I'm now 34 years old with 2 kids and they both stutter.
So, is stuttering hereditary? I've been to 2 different therapist but they were useless. I knew more about stuttering and different techniques than they did. Does anyone know a video I can download that shows 'step by step' technique on how to stop or lessen this?

I also think I could be getting much better grades in collage for presentations if i didn't stutter. But never give up. So many people strive to live for as long as possible. Don't end it early, my friend. I understand you frustration.
