Thanks a lot, pretty clear. The Code Snippets window is very useful while you are learning the code. Your videos are helping me to make animations for my physics and math classes. My students and I are very grateful.
Sir, is there any way to resize various panels in animate cc, for example my publish setting window is too large to manage, the ok button/ publish tab seems to go underneath the taskbar making me impossible to hit those buttons after making necessary changes. Thanks❤
Hi, this was a great refresher for me as I'm getting back into Flash. It was so helpful and clear. I do have a question though. How would you publish this so that remains interactive now that .SWF format has been discontinued? I'm trying all suggestions and digging into forums, no-one seems to have come up with the answer yet. I'm an ESL teacher and trying to make interactive learning pieces for my students. The making is easy (especially with tutorials like this!) but it is getting the final product packaged for use on someone else's computer that I'm having (literal) headaches over. Do you have any suggestions? I would very much appreciate it! Thanks once again.
I need help, so I want to do a counter game, for a casino where you click start and a leprachaun starts moving and you have to click on the leprachaun and it gives a count of 1, and then it just repeats, you press start, leprechaun moves randomly through a certain square and when clicked it counts now to 2, and so on and so on, can you please help me do something like that?
I could not get all the layers to shift over a frame, I literally had to do each of my layers individually, is there a reason for this? Do I have something set up wrong?
Everytime I run the animtion (ctrl enter) there is an error saying access to undefined property (which is my button). I see that there is nothing wrong with it but it won't work.
Dear Jennifer. I really appreciated your teaching. The lessons are very usefull for me. I want to improve myself in Animate. Is there any videos to complete these sprite samples. I study Parallax lesson and, Play, Replay buttons with ActionScript etc. But couldn't find to navigate and change sprites via arrows. Could you help me? Example, How can i change the sprite from walk to run with keys? (İ hope i can explain myself. Sorry for my English)
Hi jedingtonmcc. Im having a problem. I create two button. 1) Enter Button (go to frame 5) 2) Back Button (go back to frame 1) it keeps on giving me error Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 5, Line 17, Column 1 1120: Access of undefined property Back_Btn I also double check instance name and it was ok.
EVERY TIME I try add the action script either 'click to goto frame and stop'. or 'goto frame and play' all I get is an error box which says Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 4, Line 16, Column 1 1120: Access of undefined property Start. I have made sure to name my instance name both differently and the same as the property name so why does this keep happening? Please help? My total script is as follows:- /* Stop at This Frame The Animate timeline will stop/pause at the frame where you insert this code. Can also be used to stop/pause the timeline of movieclips. */ stop(); /* Click to Go to Frame and Stop Clicking on the specified symbol instance moves the playhead to the specified frame in the timeline and stops the movie. Can be used on the main timeline or on movie clip timelines. Instructions: 1. Replace the number 5 in the code below with the frame number you would like the playhead to move to when the symbol instance is clicked. */ Start.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_4); function fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_4(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndStop(10); }
Kieron when it says "undefined property" that usually has to do with the instance name. At 6:09 it starts showing how to add an instance name (Play_btn) to the button symbol. Then at 7:31 right after I add the code - see how that same instance name shows up on line 17 as "Play_btn.addeventlistener..." - so as I look at your code it looks like you have the word Start at that same point (though your error says it is line 16 so it is probably on that line) so make sure when you click on the button in the timeline that "Start" is written in the instance name of the Properties panel. Make sure it has a capital "S" in both instances. The other thing is that Start is a pretty common command so ActionScript might reserve that name. So instead make the instance name Start_btn in both locations and they should link up. Undefined is basically saying that you are "calling by name a specific thing" but ActionScript doesn't know anything by that name...so just make sure that instance name in the Properties panel for that object and in the script are the same.
I've copied the video quite literally word for word and I'm still getting the error Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 4, Line 17, Column 1 1120: Access of undefined property Play_btn. My Actionscript is /* Stop at This Frame The Animate timeline will stop/pause at the frame where you insert this code. Can also be used to stop/pause the timeline of movieclips. */ stop(); /* Click to Go to Frame and Play Clicking on the specified symbol instance moves the playhead to the specified frame in the timeline and continues playback from that frame. Can be used on the main timeline or on movie clip timelines. Instructions: 1. Replace the number 5 in the code below with the frame number you would like the playhead to move to when the symbol instance is clicked. */ Play_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_4); function fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_4(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndPlay(10); } I really am at a complete loss at to why this is happening as I've copied many different tutorials word for word over last 2 weeks and still cant get passed this, frustration doesn't even begin to cover it.
I can absolutely assure you that my properties name is identical to my instant name I even copied and pasted the name over to instant name....thanks for replying ;)
@@kieronmcenroe4808 Can you take a screenshot of your program both with the code showing and then one with the properties panel showing? Then send me a link so I can view it?
@@professorjedi thank you so much! I saw like 4 of your videos and finaly I can use buttons correctly. I use Flash cs4 in my school and their difference are huge ofc. Again, thank you so much for replying. I am subscriber now. Best wishes and happy christmas.
Syed Ayzaz are you asking if the button symbol would work in HTML5? Yes and no. No because this particular example is an ActionScript 3.0 document. Yes because creating a button and adding script is almost the same for your HTML5 canvas button. Just make sure when working in HTML5 that you are using the HTML5 Canvas folder in the Code Snippets panel.
You teach more than my own professor in this amount of time. Good Lord...

Thank you SO MUCH! I searched for something like this for so long. You're a lifesaver!
Thanks I learned quite a bit, actually made it easier to understand than some of my lectures.

Straight to the point tutorials using good-designed art.

Thank You!, yesterday I lost hours looking how to do this, I used to apply simplier coding in Action Script 3.
I love your videos, which I am using to help create my projects for my college classes.
This has helped me a lot on a college project! I owe you my life, thank you!
