RIP Dave. You were a true artist - never seeking fame, only trying to make the best music you could. You will live on forever through your music and all those who are touched by it.
Absolute truth. Thank you for your words. Mr. Roback was as close as possible to a pure artist. He will always be an inspiration for so many artists around the world.
I’m very sad to find out about the passing of David Roback the guitarist and songwriter for Mazzy. It’s too soon. He made very special music. So I will console myself with that. The music will be with me forever. Thanks!
I've seen this video a dozen times and never noticed that. Too occupied with grooving and staring at Hope Sandoval. She beaks my heart every time and I love it.

Aren't the lyrics Linda confusing though? She sings about how cool he was, and she only wanted to be a small part of his life, but also "I never wanted a piece of your heart"? That doesn't track. These are the words of someone who loved another, but she didn't love him? Doesn't sound she's being honest, right?
David was not only a brilliant musician and guitarist, he played with the two most beautiful singers on earth Hope and Suzanna. Rest in peace David, you are a hero to many for many reasons.
I never listened to them live and I didn’t know they could sound any better. Their studio work is already mesmerizing but she has such stage presence because of her vocal bliss. I think the band knows how great she sounds and they do a great job of complimenting her.
2021 ---- I'm 60 < fuckin 60 and this is what brings me some peace daily as I check in. 94 --- was in college for Chemistry, catching the Dead and living in the woods raising 4 bae's. Dam never heard of her then. Magical.

wow... bro...........----- chill... holmes.......------. dude...take it easy b.. dawg..- its gonna be alright man...... ... be patient my friend..... u will get yours........... but appreciate it when it does come around.....
Hope is still very beautiful. She is one of my best friends aunt. She is very nice but incredibly shy, which is why she usually looks uncomfortable in all the videos you see of her. Outside of that shes very normal and comes from a very typical Mexican family.
Thank you. Please read my comment. Lucky to have seen them twice..first with Cocteau Twins in Hollywood. Then J&MC in NYC. She was even more magical and beautiful in person. I remember they did a rock magazine interview once, and refused to answer any questions. HILARIOUS. In your face, Jann Wenner!😁😆
They were such a captivating live show. When I saw them at Irving Plaza in the 90's the crowd was so hypnotized you could hear a pin drop. I'm so thankful there were no cell phones back then.
Good God, she is mesmerizingly beautiful. I know "mesmerizingly" is not a word, but I am at a lost for words. Her voice and everything about her just pulls you in. I think I'm in love!
Dave Roback never plays anything more difficult that someone with only a few years of experience couldn't play, but he ALWAYS plays THE RIGHT THING at THE RIGHT TIME. FANTASTIC! & Hope, my god, are you kidding me? Incredibly under-appreciated band. They should be superstars!
She is either the coolest rock star ever...or she'd rather be somewhere else; no foot movement, no smile, nothing to indicate that she likes being there at all. And despite all that she still fascinates...aside from the fact that she is easy on the eyes and ears.
I never bought Sandoval's claim that she suffers from acute stage fright and shyness. Her stage demeanor is devised or contrived to give an air or attitude of mystery and reverence to the focal point of the band.
Kendra Smith too. BTW, any news from Kendra? Is she still alive? I've heard that she gave up to make music and lives in a cabin in the woods in Nothern California....
I fell in love with Mazzy in '94. Recorded this very performance on VHS. Bought the record. Already had the Pale Saints version on vinyl. I sit here in 2021 strumming along on my guitar. Mainly D to G, momentarily moving to A or E. Your dog could do it.
Back in '97(I think) I bought Among My Swan on a whim and have loved that cd ever since. 2 major facts that I have never realized until this very moment: 1-Mazzy Star is the name of the band, not the girl singing. 2- that the girl singing was sooooo sexy. All these years I had NO CLUE...lol. Now I like the cd even better.
She just stands there in the shyest way but still has such presence.
Well said!
Jim Morrison like. An amazing, timeless band. Rest in peace Keith & David.
And never wore a bra. Flower power
It's amazing to me how she does that

The meaning of the word mazzy is precious and that's exactly what it is!
I love how a mic is set up specifically for her tambourine. That's how important it is to their sound!
