  • Szarka from www.magpiegemst... shows how to wire wrap a cap on the top of a briolette gemstone bead. These are technique tutorials not complete projects. Be sure to check out our other videos to see the initial "how to wrap a briolette" video which shows alternate ways to capture the bead.

Oh good idea on the white background I will do that next time. Do you have difficulty viewing the actual tut or just the beginning when I am talking?

    HI,
It seems to me that you know what you're doing but honestly we can't see what you're doing. I only watched the beginning and I will watch a different one. When you're holding the briolette up and showing the ones in the box, we cannot see them! I hope you can figure out how to get more light because I think you're knowledgeable. Maybe ask someone else who makes them successfully.

Keep watching - the light is focused on the are when I start the tutorial. In the first part the light is not on my face as that is not what you need to see. Just keep the video going.

Szarka, your nails look fine, am relieved to see a wire artist with "grooves" as I like to call them in their nails..Just shows me I am doing something right... Love your videos!

This is beautiful--Maybe a white background instead of black and the camera closer would be helpful. Such a wonderful technique. Great teacher!

I always mess up my briolette wraps, lol. To the point where I hardly use them anymore. I will definitely try this! Thanks!

I found a small dab of clear nail polish on the end seals the 30 gauge wire holding it in place

Love this tutorial. I love that you are a perfectionist because it makes a real difference to how the work turns out and only takes just a little more time. Have a gazillion briolettes that I am going to try your techniques with. Many thanks!

My caps tend to start to twist a bit, if that makes sense, as I'm wrapping. Not sure what I'm doing wrong there. By spin I mean that as I'm wrapping, it doesn't stay wide and flat on the front and back. The whole wrap starts to twist a little. Think about the look of square wire if you twist it.. that's how the whole structure of the cap starts to look. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Are you using half hard by any chance? If it starts to do that I stop at that go around and reshape the wire with a pair of parallel pliers to get it to round out the way I want to. Really hard to explain. Undo that wrap around and do it again until it lays where you want it too at the bend angle you want it at.
