No sure of the regular seat, but sport seats in BMW have quite a lot of adjustment options. Apart from what Mat shows you can also move them back and forward (obviously), adjust side bolsters (air pumped) and thigh support, too bad that lumbar support is an option.... Cheers
Jarek Strzelczyk Fair enough, I just thought by the time they have put all those levers for different adjustments they might as well put electric seats in. The thigh support is such a great idea also, wish other manufactures did something like that
Agree on thigh support, it should be more common. As for electric seats, if it is a 4/5 door car, when you think about it, they have very little sense, since once you set your ideal seating position they just stay in that way all the time and all the electric motors just add unnecessary weigh. Still, I would love to have them, although only with memory. :)
BMW seats adjust 4 ways - forwards/backwards, up/down, back tilt, and base tilt, and of course have thigh support and electric seats bolsters as well. The downside on the 1 and 2 series (possibly, others, don't know) is the adjustment is made difficult by the controls being very close to the door and, in particular, having use a combination of legs and bum to 'shuffle' the seat for upwards/downwards. Having experienced the faff in my F20 I optioned the electric seats (which also come with memory) on the F22, and don't regret it for a second. When combined with lumbar support, you can tweak the seating position at a touch of a button to suit your drive e.g. cruising. Don't give a stuff about some additional weight in a small car that pack 500nm!

You can fit people in the back of this comfortably (relative to it's class)? Dafuq??? NO way!!! Props for BMW to making their coupes practical (as practical as you can be in this class).
I own a M235I exactly like this in black with the red coral interior. The performance is amazing for the money, the auto is slightly faster than the manual in 0-62 times being 4.8 rather than 5.0 with the manual, basically it's hardly much slower than a full blown M2 at a more realistic and affordable price. I own an automatic, first automatic I've ever had and surprised myself how I prefer it over manual gearbox. My car has paddle shifts as well, I think their standard. The car is more expensive than the 1 series, but looks so much more stylish and is worth the extra money IMO. Minus points the door bins are useless, the rear seats are tight - but hey it's a coupe so I expect that, like in the review the manual seat adjustment is so complicated, I thought it was just me.
Great review. Worth reminding that M240i will replace M235i very soon, so I'd wait for that - that way you could order a more powerful car or get a bigger discount on a used m235i. Its a great car, practical enough for most people, perfect size for city use yet is not scary to drive on motorways (like most superminis). Handling and performance are just amazing. I don't understand why there aren't more of these on UK roads.
Paused the video at 3:39 - is there something wrong with the front of the car? what kind of shut line is that? was the bonnet latch slightly open or something? look at the bonnet just above the headlamp cluster then trace the shut line across the front of the car - or worse, over the front left hand wing.

how’s the reliability long term. It’s one of the few bummers to get high marks from JD Power. I’ve always wanted a small convertible as a second fun car
Yes, it is my main concern also. There is a loooong list of issues. Water pumps and oil filter housing gasket are common failures which you need to be prepared to do yourself every ~40,000miles. I think it ranks highly in JD Power because there are NOT many competitors in it's market segment (compact luxury sedan). The scary thing is that the 3-series is at the bottom of rankings of its segment in JD Power which is very similar. Unless you are handy with tools I would not consider owning one. I was going to wait until 240i get a bit cheaper on the used market (in Australia too expensive right now).
I presently drive a e92 3 series coupe but the next car I will buy is 4 series and not this 2 series. I tried 2 series and it just doesn't feel as planted to road as 4 series.
The gap in the left side of bonnet is huge, like 2cm or so....whats going on? (it is not visible during all the driving part, but only some). Perhaps the bonnet doesnt close properly all the time?
it has been rebadged to m240 in 2017. all the 35 models changed to 40, is just a naming feature, because the engines got revisited or updated, but the cars are practically and virtually the same.
Fernando Rosas doesn't matter. He stated 2017, which meant people were expecting it to be the M240i with B58 engine. It may only be a small difference but saying 2017 when it's not is misleading.
What did you do to the bonnet during the driving portion? Did the the camera man not notice that it sat crooked? It looks like you jammed something under the left corner and slammed it shut.
I need some help🙈I'm fortunate to choose my first car, my choices are the 2 series(2016), 4 series(2016) and the Audi A4(2016 or 2017). The problem is like all of them. The Audi being the cheapest where I live and the 2 series & 4 series being quite expensive. The audi's interior makes me think that the it would be the best choice. But I want to hear more opinions before I make my choice. Would really appreciate it. Thanks 😌

The gap in the left side of bonnet is huge, like 2cm or so....whats going on? (it is not visible during all the driving part, but only some). Perhaps the bonnet doesnt close properly all the time?
M240i is the 2017 model Mat, not the M235i
it has been rebadged to m240 in 2017. all the 35 models changed to 40, is just a naming feature, because the engines got revisited or updated, but the cars are practically and virtually the same.
Fernando Rosas doesn't matter. He stated 2017, which meant people were expecting it to be the M240i with B58 engine. It may only be a small difference but saying 2017 when it's not is misleading.
Any BMW with *40 on the badge means it has the new B58 B30 engine. It’s the successor to the N55. 340bhp/500nm’s!
Not the same. New engine. More bhp and nm
Was wanting the 4 door review
Boy I'm going to get this car someday
Just found out the 230i comes in manual. If I had the cash I’d buy one at the drop of a hat
Thanks 😌
If you're getting the A4 with the 252hp quattro engine, go for it. Between the 2 and 4 series, the choice is obvious.
Overall , i would go for the 4 series
S4 > series 4
Why isn’t this a M240 ? They were available from 2016 and this is titled a 2018 review 🤔
Don't mention MPG if they are incorrect AND you know that.
