@@bmw0208 DCT. I always had manuals all of my life, until my last car (an m140i with the ZF8). I loved it, because I could still change manually with the paddles, as I can with this DCT. People make such a big fuss over pressing a clutch down and moving a gear lever, like it makes you a driving god or something, it's pathetic. I love the DCT, and I loved the ZF8 too, both great. And fwiw I have been driving since 1986 lol so owned dozens of cars, all manual.

It's a dying breed currently got a 330 auto and an old e30, and as a toy the manual wins every time but I'm torn between the two boxes, probably one of the last bms, bmw got right!
@@bmw0208 The thing is, BMW manual gearboxes are pretty wank. I have owned 6 BMW's with manual gearboxes, E36 328i coupe, E36 saloon, E91 touring, and so on, they all have a rubbery feel, and all need the clutch delay valve removing to give the clutch pedal a more normal feeling. The automatic cars pre ZF were all a bit wank too, slushboxes, dim-witted when you wanted them to pull away, never in the gear you wanted them to be in, slow to kickdown, etc. The ZF8 in the M140i was unreal, seriously. Yes I had the software mapped with xHP3, to make it unreal, but to be honest it wasn't too bad as standard. My car was tuned to 455bhp/634nm, and needed more hydraulic pressure to stop any slippage, as I had planned on taking it to 600+ bhp. Unfortunately I wrote it off before I got that far with it 🤣 But, for a toque converter, the ZF8 is amazing, instant changes which you can do with paddles so you are deciding when to change, in comfort mode though it changes as smooth as butter, you can't even feel in change gear. In sport and above it just gets more brutal and slams through the gears. The DCT is like the ZF8 in sport+ all the time, so it can be a bit jerky if you're just cruising to the shops with the mrs, but wow, when you're on it, it's bloody fantastic, and I would never go back to a manual now.
I think the M2 is suuuuper underrated. Everyone talks about the M3 and M4, especially in Canada where I’m located, and no-one really buys them here. It’s a shame really, because they are truly beautiful and I’d love to see more on the road!
Correction: The M2 engine is based on the N55 engine in the M235i, albeit with a whole bunch of changes, including the fancy semi-dry sump lubrication system from the M3/4. The M240i has the new B58 engine.
00:30 the motor is actually from a 235i. The B58 (in *40 cars) makes a ton of power, and the same torque as the N55 in the M2 but without overboost limitation.

Had a M235i last year and got lucky on a cancelled M2 which I got on 20/12/16 done 2300 miles lots of smiles not much quicker in a straight line but through the bends in another league also had a spar with a new Golf R the other day in the dry and smoked it so all I can say is mighty impressed..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the M2 uses an updated N55 engine whereas the new m240 uses a complete new 'B58' engine? The only main difference I'm aware of is that the newer engine uses nicasil lining on the cylinders rather than traditional steel liners to reduce friction..
When I see a car reviewer driving a car like this or any high performance version of an ordinary car and they are deadpan or straight faced if they say the car is "fun" then I know they're lying as a fun car will make you smile. The first 10 seconds of this vid told me all I needed to know.
I've finally got one! a 2019 model. it's amazing, quick, beautiful, sounds great. I've gitbthe black on black model. the only issue is going for fuel, always get stopped by a random male asking me 50 questions about it.
I think it's the N55 out of the M135i, isn't it? I prefer to the new B58. More rewarding at the top end and sounds a bit sweeter. Can't deny the improvements they have made though. I was lucky enough to meet a cool dude in Germany who was taking his manual M2 around the ring. He took me for a spin in it and oh my word, it handles so well. It reminds me of the E46 M3. So nimble and balanced. Epic car!!
i think Audi interior is the best so far, Mercedes and BMW car interior all look the same and Mercedes need to do something new beside that screen that looks like a i pad glued on

The M2 was magical, unique, and special when it came out. I owned a 2017 M2. 8 months after I got it, I watched a 2018 M2 LCI come out, and now a 2019 M2 Competition Which will be replacing the "old" M2, making that special and unique feeling I had disappear in less than 9 months of ownership. I thought offering a comp pack like on the M3/M4 would have been okay as cars are always evolving, but they never let the M2 go on a normal 4-5 year life cycle and felt more like a slap on the face to current M2 owners who waited a long time for their cars. I beat the massive depreciation that lies ahead now for the "old" M2 and traded it in, and went back to my original dream car, and actually got it. Hellcat baby! I miss aspects of my M2, but the M2C will be nice. M3 comp pack really only M car I would consider in the future.

Love the M2 but £44k outch. How much off the M2 can you use short of a track day? M140i or M240i do pretty much the same things up to 8 tenths of the M2 in day to day driving and for the M2 to get away from those cars you'd have to be really committed the cause. Saying that, who wouldn't want an M2 just for the way it looks
My point exactly M2 is track focused car, in everyday use or even on open roads you'd have to be one serious driver to get away from either the m140i or m240i. Lot of extra money for a slightly different look with limited advantages
@@markrhoden68 the M2 is just a completely different car. It is much more connected to the road and more capable on track. And I think the most important difference is that you can drive the M2 on track for a long time and dont have any issues due to much more effort spent for cooling and general Set-Up. If you just want a fast car with a great engine - get the ´35 or ´40.

I know that secure bolt. Engine too high, that's why supra can't fit them in a line 0:36. This grill is not anything you want to make that car more as a Night cop chase Kapraku corvete and is stupid looking on other BMW cars. Ride stance is too much camber probably. Trying to achieve it 2:24 only good advice put on drag tires, far too 500 000 tho. You never know then grass cutter volume rockers have some secret functionality 3:19.
Are you sure alot of buyers wont track their M2? I'm getting mine in ~august and I intend to track it when possible! Know alot of other guys who will track their M2 too.
He didn't notice… but that's because he drove it with the ESP off the whole time. Could you tell?! (Turning ESP off is the only way to disable it as far as we know).

The engine isn't the same as the M240i, that uses the B58 series, this is N55 based used in M235i.

Only downside I’ve noticed with the M2 is its very twitchy on the rear end and the tyres wear easily. Similar to the X5

Wrong. Engine is n55. The m240i engine is actually bigger, bigger turbo and puts out more power. But don't tell anyone.

He didn't notice… but that's because he drove it with the ESP off the whole time. Could you tell?! (Turning ESP off is the only way to disable it as far as we know).
I've had mine for a year and a half; & have been quite disappointed with it on UK roads.
