Sorry man, already bought one. Best car I ever had. Excellent video.
Best comment ever😂😂
You won’t be disappointed I’m sure. Terrific cars! Enjoy 😁
I came here to say exactly the same thing!...bravo sir!
iam jealous
Same here for me honestly
Bought one 3 years ago and I still love it like day 1. Probably the best purchase I ever did.
How’s maintenance on it?
Yes how is it with maintenance now ?
Had mine 2 years. Charge pipe the only failure. They do creak from the rear suspension when slow turning. One of the best cars I've ever had.
do the comps do that or just the og m2
@@n0cturnalgamer the pipe is specific on the M2C, it doesn't share the same turbo and exhaust line.
@@Rob.One. charge pipe is also plastic on the N55
I've had mine for 4 years and its only had a right turn indicator issue which I was ale to resolve through OBD settings (it is a very common issue in the M2 forums). Other than that, no issues of any kind, a superb car to drive.
Brilliant, glad to hear that! Is it a keeper for you or do you have the wandering eye yet?
You what ? That’s not an issue on a BMW
@@stephenpeacock2627 you're right, I just fabricated the whole thing and imagined reading the 11 page thread on Bimmerpost of similar experiences 😂
@@jamesj590 you missed the joke... he means bmws don’t indicate 😂
@@gollyroger8906 oh, my bad. It was kinda out of nowhere so I was caught off guard.
Not wrong either, just two days ago I was cursing someone in an X1 for not indicating twice in succession.
dude I cant even buy one no matter how bad I want one.. this used car pricing is absolutely ridiculous..
Definitely a bit higher price wise at the moment !
I just purchased a 2017 M2 black sapphire 2 days ago, god i love this car, looks great, sounds great, drives great, best car i've ever owned, and ooo it looks so wide and sexy, definetly an attention grabber and i have no regrets whatsoever🔥🔥🔥
BMW needs to adapt Toyota's quality systems. Their cars would have better brand resonance to many existing and new customers. The leaks issues had been plaguing BMW for years, and I don't know they haven't moves away from this lol. But otherwise they make some of the nicest looking cars in the world.
Kept trying to figure out why you could only purchase used copies of the M2 from sailors. Then I concluded it was a Scottish thing. Excellent review. Just bought one and will be alert to this issues pointed out here.
Fantastic channel and video, new to the channel, always blows my mind I’ve owned a manual e46 m3 coupe for 5/6yrs now and a bit of weekend car, but just on hp alone 343bhp N/A and the m2 standard 365 turbo charged. Crazy after all those years.
Bought one back in May of this year and this is literally beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of. So happy I bought the regular M2 instead of the Competition, so much fun to drive. The N55 is just the way to go.
Do the Competition and CS models have a different engine? I love the way this car looks and sounds. Torn between getting this and an M4 (which is way more common where I'm from, but has slightly more power)
@@kazvenson Yes. The M2 Competiton and CS models have the S55 engine (same as the M4). I could only use one word to desribe this engine : sad. The S55 doesn't have any character compared to the N55. Sure a Competition and a CS have slightly more power, but it truly won't change a thing. On the other hand, the sound of the N55 engine will bring you so much more joy when driving the car. And if you really want a little bit more power after some time, you can always do a Stage 1 or 2. Best of both worlds (but personally, I don't feel the need to increase the power because it's already very powerful).
I have a friend who sold his regular M2 to take the M2 Competition instead, and now he's regretting it and wants to go back to the OG M2.
Honestly, I'm not afraid to give you this advice : original M2 all the way. You won't regret it. It's beautiful and so much fun.
@@emsbzrr8024 Wow thanks for the info! I have the m235i, which apparently has the same n55 engine as the M2. And my goodness, probably one the best and hottest sounding cars I've had. Best car I've driven and boy is it a head turner too! But I've recently seen a few M2's on the road and it's even more hotter🤦🏻♂️ I think you've convinced me now😀👍🏻 Thanks again
@@emsbzrr8024 nice thank you bro .
My friend let me drive his 18’ M2 and I instantly fell in love . The car is so powerful and nimble , I feel like it cuts on a dime . I drive a 2011 E350 Benz and it feels like I’m driving a damn yacht 😂 . I have been searching for M2 comps but truthfully if everyone is telling me to stay to the OG , i must. Hopefully it will be here before the year 🙏🏼
@@kazvenson The N55 on the 235is are differently tuned than the M2 N55, but yet overall it’s essentially the same
I test drove my pals m2 im selling my st and buying the m2 it just feels so freaking raw and instant
The crank hub is a very real issue and costs thousands to resolve and costs even more if it fails
I’m currently looking for a small performance coupe in the future as my first sports car, and the M2 looks like a sensible and practical option. Thanks for the long term review.
hahahaha
Got my first M2 with low miles fully loaded delighted with purchase mods to come what do you recommend like the wheels on your car
Anyone know what the theme song on the visuals at the start of this video please... many thanks in advance.
You forgot a few mate.. leaking rear differential and cracks on the MPE exhausts! Also.. very noticeable scratches on the inside of the doorsill from the rubber of the door. And not to forget check the MPE exhaust button if working perfectly, it's a common failure. All of these above can the replace under warranty, common issues.
Coming from a Bmw M2 owner, great review anyway! Best M car I've ever owned. Cheers.
Thanks for adding these Damian. Great points.
Well Done, Thank You.
Glad I found this. Thinking about buying an m2. Greetings from Los Angeles! Too bad I don’t know what you said at all!. Lol jk I’m familiar with all the Scott’s accents and you definitely got a like and sub from me. Cheers
Dropped a stage 1 68 plate RS3 for the LCI M2. Agree with most here the best car I've ever owned! Sapphire black 👌
I bet black looks incredible. So you never found traction an issue coming from the super grippy rs3?
Love these cars but why can’t bmw make an engine as trouble free as Ford ? Everyone on my race team has a bmw and constant trouble . Leaks , coils , valves , coolant , oil
I will not like your video because you pluralize yourself when you call yourself us.
These are the most thorough guides on youtube. Well done
Thanks for the comment Neil! That’s what we’re aiming for 😊
Lots of very useful and quirky information can't wait for the next guide !
Thanks a lot. Watched your GTR video three times before spending 150k on two GTRs. Both are exceptional examples mechanically
That’s fantastic news. It genuinely means a lot that these videos are out there helping buyers! Thanks for the comment
Easily the best bmw. I did consider one but got an rs3 as needed 4 doors. Plus my friend had an m3 and the amount of issues and quality problems he had put me off
I am on the market for a replacement for my M140i, was looking for a new gen 330e until I noticed that used M2s are same price. So we'll see 🤭
M2! :-) good luck
@@ScottishCarClan Update, I Bought an M2 DCT 😂
@@burrogrande great choice sir 😎
Can you do a vid on Bmw's 2022 2 series coupe M240?
Consider it on the “hit list” Anne. Thanks for the comment 😁
Another great vid! Can’t wait to see what’s next.
LCI/COMP(2018 MY onwards) suffer from rear LED indicator failure. Requires entire rear cluster replacement. Even replacement clusters can fail within a year...! Common on other BMWs I hear due to earthing design fault yet to be cured by BMW apparently.
Standard rear boxes eventually rattle too on cold start up due to springs on butterfly valves becoming slack.
Everyone just save your money so you can hopefully afford a porsche one day. Sorry for all the trouble you must deal with in the mean time.
😂👍
Yes, then bore scoring, ims disaster and you go back to BMW 🙂
@@sash328 that's true but there's a relatively inexpensive fix if you did it in time and it avoids bore scoring. Even if you didnt do thr repair, value wise they're almost always worth fixing, not straight to the heap.
cool m2
It’s a very nice example! Thanks for watching.
I’m very seriously considering swapping my 996 Turbo for a 2017 M2. Good idea do you think? M4 offers more value for money but not as pretty.
So much better looking than the new one with the 80’s aftermarket front/ rear body kit, absolutely ruined it, a BMW problem last 5 years, ugly cars.this is great.
Had mine (2018 model year) for 2 and a bit years.
- broke twice the charge pipe (I heard this many times on my local M2 Wechat group)
- Horn replaced
- Both rear light clusters changed because of intermittent turning signal faults
- Hand brake not strong enough (I heard this many times on my local M2 Wechat group)
How was your ownership overall?
@@nathanjualin2118 Awesome!
So thatssss why bmw owners done use their blinkers!😆
He said they switched from the n55 to the s55(Comp) in 2018. But I was under the impression the LCI M2 with the N55 came out in 2018.
I’m buying one next week , a 2017 one with 26,000 miles . It had first service at 6,000 miles , second service at 16,000 miles and just getting serviced now at 26,000 . So it’s roughly a service every 2 years , but low miles , do you think this is acceptable , thanks in advance
I presume if you go and check to see if idrive is showing any parts that need servicing, and you mention this to the dealer, they're simply just going to clear the codes and say the job has been done.🤦♂️ How can you verify that servicing on parts has actually been completed!? Many parts are very difficult to get to, and view without dismantling the engine bay.
Can u do m240i please
Working on it 😁 stay tuned!
Yes!
Evening
Just subscribed about to swop my M140 for a M2 enjoyed your video question what are the wheels on your car look stunning I’m getting the same colour as this thanks
Since one cannot say Scottish Car Clan without including my name - I figured I belong RIGHT here. - Enjoying the channel and the truly informative content. - TY from New Hampshire USA.
I buy this car very soon
Everything you said I liked other than external temp gage because if your sensor which is extremely cheap and easy to replace it’s just a turn of the wheel remove 3 bolts take off front left wheel splash panel pull sensor out of its little hole it’s turned in and replace. You’d also notice high coolant temps and car running wrong because your cars outside thermostat also changes the way your ecu responds to car that little sensor just like a wheel speed sensor has made so many people sell good bmws over $120
I thought the S55 Competition was in the 2019 model year not 2018?
Eso no es asi, y se saco la maleta 😅
Bigote, se mordia el cuello de la camisa vaya ruido😅
Y.. le cobre con tarjeta, una mirada.. mi coleta..
BMW M2 is the best I have 2 of them
Faulty indicators....by bmw? See we bmw people are innocent😂
Affordable? Not here
Just buy a shit ton of park plugs and coil packs and learn how to install them yourself should be good 😂😅
You wouldn't see me buying a car like that second hand 😅 thrashed buy it bran new
Never seem your videos before first one I come across, love the video style thanks for the information👍 I love the Scottish accent as well :') cheers pal
Great comprehensive review, I've been looking at the idea of buying one recently, and this is a sure fire reassuring way to know what to look out for at a potential purchase. Keep up the good work. I have subscribed!
Thanks for being balanced, don’t need another BMW fanboy
The crank hub issue only seems to rear it’s head on tuned cars. Good video.
BullShhhhh
Thanks for the input!
Find the ride very stiff and keep looking at the Litchfield setup. TBH wish I'd shifted to a Cayman 981 S before prices went crazy.
Forgot the turbo charge pipe
Thank for adding this Lucy
I want one soooo bad.
N55 sounds so good
You need the ignition on for the horn to work? Pretty sure in the US the horn is required to work whether the ignition is on or not, as it's a safety item.
Idrive will phone your mum if your driving like a fool😂
Guys is the m2 a reliable daily driver for lots of driving ?
Ok, but after how many km does this all happen.
Please.. don't buy an "M" car that is not manual..
Great video!
Hey I have a bmw 3 series f30 106000 miles on the clock. Manual gearbox. I’m feeling that clutch judder intermittently when taking off in first gear only. Whats the issue? Is it a clutch replacement I’m looking at? Thank
It’s quite normal especially when cold
I already bought so i guess I just won't watch this.
I am shifting to UK and planning to buy one of these I find these to be perfect daily driver and does anybody knows the reliabiy of this thing ?
Its seems there’s a lot off issues with this car that’s over 60k, sad.
18 LCI ftw baby!!!!
A lot of problems for an expensive car!
Fun fast and "affordable" yeah not in my price range its not
I have an auto 17 plate M240i if you want to do a buyers guide mate, I’m from Scotland too wouldn’t mind handing it over for a video, not too much buyers guide content on the M lites
Hey Adam! Thanks for the comment, can you drop us a message @ScottishCarClan on Instagram or email us at alba.automotivation@gmail.com
The 240i has been requested a few times so we’d love to take you up on that!
i really want either an m2 one day or an e90-92 m3. love both those a 1m if i ran across one at the right time surely too.
Way to many "watch out for" issues for a car at that price.
What kind of steering wheel is it please
Who the fuck is painting the pedestrian safety bars behind the front grill :D ?
I thought it looked quite cool! 😬
Top Channel and great info. Any chance of a look at older cars?!!!
We’re working hard to get our hands on some older cars to feature! Stay tuned 🙂

Did the diff whine on yours ?
Good video well done 👍
Great video sir!
Thank you Mr Cook! 😁
i like how he bad mouthing a german sports car. how amazing those scottish automobiles are eh lol
Steady on! It’s all love here, nothing to do with the cars nationality. I’ve owned 10+ amazing German cars. This channel is and only ever will be about helping people buy their dream cars. All the best 😁 🏴 🇩🇪
I moved mine on grabbed myself a series 1m never looked.
What wheels are those! ?❤💯
Great video…very detailed…I’ve had my M2 for 4 years now and I love it!
Your THE coolest!!!!
Great video. Covered everything perfectly.
Best car ive ever owned 😊
Och Aye
Och aye the noo! ❤️
Would be good to see an M5 video too.
Did that steering wheel come stock or was it an aftermarket add-on?
That's aftermarket
Song? 0:27
the car has so much presence on the road
Totally agree
Doom and Gloom .... Do a happy ..... one
Happy one just for you Peter :-) ruclips.net/video/A7f8gQ1w3Mk/видео.html
Mine has had the 2 rear lights replaced under warranty it throws up a turn indicator fault which I believe is common. My horn also stopped working and I had that done. My m2 is also stage 2 now as felt the standard car just needed that little bit more.
Mine has the same problem. What was the cause of the horn not working?
@@markspin4596 not sure it was under warranty and I took it in to Bmw and said the horn has stopped working. They replaced it I didn’t ask any questions about what the fault could be sorry.
Yep couple of common issues right there Jim! Stage 2 must drive very nicely! Even this standard car had a nice bit of pace to it.
Useful review.
It pains me to see a DCT in that car.
I love a good manual too but the DCT does perform very well!
Thanks for the vid
Very welcome! Thanks for watching
thanks for the tips o.0
Very welcome! thanks for the view!
Do a m4 version
BMW have always been plagued by oil leaks… over the decades… but good maintenance takes care of most.
