Owned an M140i for 4 years, tuned it to 455bhp, upgraded lots of parts, and realised no matter how much I spent it would never be a real M car. So last year bought a slightly older M2. Wow, what a car, love it. Only issue I have had, was the rear diff seals leaking, which is a common issue. Not cheap to do, as it's a 4.5 hour job, but I had all 3 changed as all 3 were leaking.
Bought one back in May of this year and this is literally beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of. So happy I bought the regular M2 instead of the Competition, so much fun to drive. The N55 is just the way to go.
Do the Competition and CS models have a different engine? I love the way this car looks and sounds. Torn between getting this and an M4 (which is way more common where I'm from, but has slightly more power)
@@kazvenson Yes. The M2 Competiton and CS models have the S55 engine (same as the M4). I could only use one word to desribe this engine : sad. The S55 doesn't have any character compared to the N55. Best of both worlds (but personally, I don't feel the need to increase the power because it's already very powerful). Everything you said I liked other than external temp gage because if your sensor which is extremely cheap and easy to replace it’s just a turn of the wheel remove 3 bolts take off front left wheel splash panel pull sensor out of its little hole it’s turned in and replace. You’d also notice high coolant temps and car running wrong because your cars outside thermostat also changes the way your ecu responds to car that little sensor just like a wheel speed sensor has made so many people sell good bmws over $120
Fantastic channel and video, new to the channel, always blows my mind I’ve owned a manual e46 m3 coupe for 5/6yrs now and a bit of weekend car, but just on hp alone 343bhp N/A and the m2 standard 365 turbo charged. Crazy after all those years.
Had mine (2018 model year) for 2 and a bit years. - broke twice the charge pipe (I heard this many times on my local M2 Wechat group) - Horn replaced - Both rear light clusters changed because of intermittent turning signal faults - Hand brake not strong enough (I heard this many times on my local M2 Wechat group)

LCI/COMP(2018 MY onwards) suffer from rear LED indicator failure. Requires entire rear cluster replacement. Even replacement clusters can fail within a year...! Common on other BMWs I hear due to earthing design fault yet to be cured by BMW apparently. Standard rear boxes eventually rattle too on cold start up due to springs on butterfly valves becoming slack.
You need the ignition on for the horn to work? Pretty sure in the US the horn is required to work whether the ignition is on or not, as it's a safety item.
