Great informative video that is accurate and to the point.

The spun crank bearing issue happened after modding and adding power. I don't have an M2 but had a F82 M4C which shares the same engine. If you're going to pick a M2C go for stock imo. Great cars across the line and one of the best I've owned(F82).

Hey mate I’m considering a 2020 M2C. Is the car/engine reliable based on your experience with the M4C? I love the car but quite scared of reliability as its gonna be my daily

@@emirashraf crank hub issue is overblown by aftermarket parts manufacturers in order to sell more crank hub kits. just don't mod it to run 600+ hp and you're fine. s55 is extremely reliable

After 4 years in a tuned M140i, I knew that no matter how much I spent modding it, the M140i would never be a real M car.
I looked at getting an M2C but for my budget (£30,000) I could only find higher mileage examples.
I studied the differences, between the OG and the M2C, and while the engine seems so important to numbers bro-science types, the 45bhp difference in power is almost completely offset by the extra weight of the M2C. The chassis, suspension, steering, etc is identical between the two, and cosmetically the differences did not seem worth the extra money for me. Seats (I actually prefer the OG seats), wing mirrors, rear valance (OG much better looking), sound (OG sounds much better imo), and the digital dash binnacle (I prefer analogue dials).
And so, I ended up buying a very low mileage, 1 owner from new, mint OG M2 for well under £30,000.
Anyone who says the OG is not a real M car, just because the engine doesn't have an S designation, is really just trolling. The forged N55 in the OG is a fantastic engine, reliable, and sounds brilliant. And lets be honest, 365bhp is enough.
Yes I'd love a CS but the price hike is ridiculous.
I have no regrets on buying an OG, it is a fantastic car, and the haters who say it's not an M sing the praises of the 1M which doesn't have an S designated engine either, so this proves it is simply rubbish.
I have heard of a few common issues, but nothing that would bankrupt an owner. Mine had the common leaking rear diff seals, and I had all 3 replaced, it was around £700 at my BMW independent specialist using genuine parts. Rear lights getting water in seem to be common, touch wood mine are fine, some minor oil leaks seem to be common (but that could be said for any BMW), thankfully no leaks on mine, and the crank hub thing only seems to become an issue on tuned cars. I plan on keeping mine standard, because I believe the first versions of any model always become the most desirable as they are the purest.

The M2 LCI and M2C also have analog dials?
They are simply backlit but are completely analog like the old ones.

Is there a difference in suspension? Meaning M2C is softer or harder than M2?

If I’m remembering correctly the Competition is 20mm lower. It also has different shock absorbers and stiffer chassis making is sharper but it won’t ride as well as the regular M2 over poor road surfaces 👍

The rear subframe is also bolted directly onto the chassis without and rubber bushings for added agility

There is a significant price difference between the standard and the comp here in the US. If money is no issue, The comp is far more of a real M car, But the n55 in the standard M2 does have a nicer engine/exhaust note.
I believe the most important thing is to find one that's the least molested, the best condition, and the lowest miles. That should be the deciding factor IMO

@@themilesdrivenyou’re not right. The parts are exactly the same. The competition sits at the exactly same height as the OG. The only difference is a bit of added weight making the M2C feeling a bit more settled. But the chassis is exactly the same.
