@@sloww320d Been brilliant so far. Bought mine with about 85k on the clock and had no faults at all! A few recalls over the year but other than that *touch wood* perfect!
Thank you for the content. Been watching and enjoy the povs. Was looking at cupra 290s but this car seems like a nice in between my current car and the Seat in terms of cost/performance. Plus the mpg will be nice.
Nice review, I’ve just bought a 225d and echo what you’ve said. Very pleased with it too and coming from a Scooby, Focus ST and Lotus Elise it holds its own very well.
@@sloww320d B57, most of what I’ve read is it’s pretty bomb proof as long as the history / servicing is kept up. Mines got full BMW history so I’ve kept that up, only had one service myself so far, due another in September, will be going into the dealer again.
good question. I'd pick the 220D over the 220i as the diesel is much punchier and faster in most cases. Also, because the diesel has a lot more torque you're able to have quite a bit more fun with the chassis. If you want to go for petrol i'd atleast go for the 230i, ideally the 240i is the one you want though, as the b58 is in another league compared to the 2.0l b48.
@@ParagonCarsLondon I would be going from a 116d so I the speed will be a jump up anyway but I was more wondering how it is to drive around B roads and how fun it is as a car
2-3 seconds faster with a nice look with the exuast being one on each side, but the mpg is alot lower than you would get from a diesel. Sound of the engin is alot better (almost like an m2) Would recommend it if you dont mind the mpg, otherwise it’s the same car
@Paragon Cars London Right now there are / will be a lot of restriction to diesel engines... there are not a big difference in weight and size between 220 and 420 . why do you prefer? Sorry.. i am looking for a purchase one of it and i am a little confuse 😅
A BMW420D weighs 1550- 1575kg and a 220D weighs 1435 (add 35kg for xDrive and 25kg for automatic.). Where is the 25% weight difference you talked about at 0:05
It's a bit of an exaggeration. Most 420d's weigh around 1650kg and most 220d's are around 1375kg so it's more like 17%. We have seen some 4 series weighing well over 1700kg though, just depends on spec.
@Paragon Cars London sounds like the 2 series should be quite alot more economical to run. How is the sound insulation between the two? I assume you've driven both. Is one more quiet or noisy than the other?
Wow that conclusion about putting cars in perspective was what i needed to hear impress yourself people not others
Oh man that clip with the seat made me howl!! So relatable! Just purchased a 420d XDrive thanks to your videos and have nothing bad to say about it!
how has the reliability been? considering getting one

This is the most relyable 4 cyl diesel from bmw, the B47. No more timing chain issues and fuel economy is pretty good

Helpful real life review, thank you. May have to reluctantly change my Euro 5 123d for Euro 6
Best videos really i love them car review 10/10!!
Love the 2 series
Awesome review!
Good review, the M-Sport interior does make the driving experience better
The lack of cruise control is damn near unacceptable in a 2017 BMW!
Nice review! Now I want one. Currently the owner of a 2005 1 series. I never noticed that problem with the seat becoming loose though.
Great review thank you
good option to get with bmw is sunroof
6:50 - lol 😂
What can you tell now, regarding long term reliability?
What would you suggest between the 220i and the 220d in this generation what are the main differences when driving the petrol and diesel?

Talking about it makes me want to drive it

Did you see Mclaren on the right side at 5:20

You should make a review drive of a 6 series such good cars to drive
we sold quite a few of those about 3 years ago. I agree, brilliant cars.
Have you ever sold the old 6 series before ? Or reviewed on it ?
Hardly never see them around anymore only the new ones or 2012

Is it possible to fit M performance braking kit ?
yes it's possible.

You can purchase all M Performance Parts at your local BMW Dealer
