Juka 360 Yes, and he's still standing guard in front of the gate. The box is placed there so the guards don't have to stand in the rain, while still providing a clear view of the approach to the gate. He will still go out and do his patrol steps when he's scheduled to do so, whether its raining or not. He's performing his duties as per the orders and resources given to him
+Jamie Ward From the way he wears his hat and based on his facial features compared to that guard, I'd think it's a yes! Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that!
You can not blame him taking cover, those coats are very hard to dry out,and also after all his hard work in preparing for his duty, the rain is going to undo it , respect to all the Guardsmen !!!!

Most posts for guarding do have these sheds for the grenadiers so they could "hide from the rain" due to the fact that the water soaks into those bearskins making it heavier and a possibility to faint.
If you march in theres a almighty crash as your foot hits the back, the whole thing rocks, your hat falls over your eyes and the bayonet gets stuck in the ceiling, and you tea spills
Stinky Sweaty Armpit royal guards don’t do that they are grown men and have to do their job. Think logically idiot. I mean, u really think he is playing hide and seek?! With who?!
HEY, Did anyone else hear that whisel blow at 003 than another one at 046 when he went into the sentry box ,it could have been a command to all guards to seek shelter, it would have been nice if the camera man had paned around and showed what the other guards were doing .
The Bearskin (that big fuzzy thing on his head) was the headgear of napoleon's imperial guard. It was used to make them look larger and therefore more intimidating. The Imperial Guard was known for not retreating and their exploits in battle, but the Foot Guards of Britain defeated them in the Battle of Waterloo, and adopted their headgear. It's a historical reminder. They actually did wear this to battle in the crimean war.
ansiaaa Historically speaking it would have been a patrol, but the Grenadier Guards don't actually guard anymore - the Metropolitan Police dedicate a number of officers to guard royal estates and family members. The march is more to get the cramp out of their legs etc. - it would be sore standing for hours on end.
***** that I can answer. they are an official part of the army. they wear ceremonial outfits but if you try and trespass they'll yell and point their guns at you. and the guns have live ammo in them. look for "get back queen's guard" and "get off the fence queen's guard", you'll see what I mean

Not long after, the sentries were moved inside the fence." just one example of bullshit these guys probably face every day.
