  • Westminster Abbey = The Lady Chapel, side chapels. Recorded on Wednesday 15th March 2023.
Now, if you think our modern day families are bad = meet this lot ⬇️
Left side small chapel, within The Lady Chapel
    (1) The Tomb of Elizabeth I & Mary I "Tudor Sisters, daughters to King HenryVIII, & bitter enemies in life. When Elizabeth died on the 24th March 1603 = England lost its last ruling Tudor!! & Then came a new King & Dynasty "King James VI of Scotland & I of England." The first things he did, were to have his predecessor Queen Elizabeth I's last resting "marked with a fine monument" = Elizabeth who was much loved by her people "got a fine marble effigy" = whereas Mary I = who was not so loved "got merely a black marble nameplate." King James, hoped that Burying the two sisters together "that they may settle their differences, in the afterlife." What we're not generally told /advertised of, is that when the vault which already contained the coffin of Queen Mary I, was opened to receive the coffin of her half sister Queen Elizabeth I "it was discovered to be a very small vault = so rather than resting side by side, Elizabeth's coffin was placed on top of her sister Mary's.
    (2) The fine monument, which contains the bones of The two Princes in The Tower = Killed by either "their uncle King Richard III = or My Lady the Kings Mother (Margaret Beaufort = mother to King Henry VII" ⬅️ depending upon what theory you believe, on that one!! The bones were discovered in the reign of King Charles II, under stone stairs in a wooden chest, in the Tower of London. Charles II had them buried with honour "as the two Princes in The Tower = the monument was opened in the 1930s & did indeed contain the bones of two boys, of around the same ages!! Weather it's actually those boys in that monument, is still an ongoing question, to this day 🤔
Left side small chapel, within The Lady Chapel
    (3) The Tomb of Mary Queen of Scots "Elizabeth I's greatest adversary = beheaded at fotheringhay castle in 1587. When her son James "who'd abandoned his mother in favour of Elizabeth I & the English throne" Actually came to that throne = one of the first wheels he set in motion "was to have his mother's body brought from its original burial location, in Peterborough Cathedral & have her brought to Westminster Abbey" which was done in 1612.
    (4) The Tomb of Margaret Douglas, Countess of Lennox "James I's Grandmother." But, more interestingly on that tomb = is mentioned King James I's Father Henry Lord Darnley, cousin to Elizabeth I & short lived King of Scotland "murdered on The orders of Mary Queen of Scots & carried out by her lover The Earl of Bothwell." ⬅️ So you have a beheaded Queen = buried next to the Mother-in-law who blamed & hated her, for her sons murder = with that same murdered son /husband "shown & mentioned on the memorial." How bloody awkward must that little tableau, have been for King James I = who BTW "never trusted or liked women.
    (4) The Foundress of the whole damn shebang = The tomb of Margaret Beaufort "the self styled = My Lady The Kings Mother" = Grandmother - Great Grandmother & Great Great Grandmother, to our Tudor & Stuart dynasties. My Lady the Kings Mother = was married at the age of 12 to Edmund Tudor "a fully grown man of about 26 years" & the resulting pregnancy & birth of the future King Henry VII, at the age of just 13 "is believed to have damaged Margaret internally = as she never bore another child or got pregnant again." Edmund died of the plague & left Margaret "a widow & mother, at age 13 /14." Her one goal in life = was to get her boy Henry, onto the throne!! Which happened with the defeat of King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field on 22nd August 1485.
And, that ends just a small part of "The fcuked up family from hell." 🤔

The narrator is wrong on a few of his comments. Mary Queen of Scots was not responsible for Darnleys murder but got the blame with no proof whatsoever just falsified letters not written by Queen Mary in several handwriting not Queen Mary's. Also Darnley is not buried beside Queen Mary in Westminster Abbey he was buried in Holyrood Abbey in Edinburgh.

Interesting that Elizabeth I, Mary I, and Mary, Queen of Scots are buried close together, since in life none of the three women liked each other.

@JimMac23 Hi Jim. That was the doing of King James VI of Scotland & I of England! Mary was originally the sole occupant, of the vault "she now shares with her Sister Mary." When Elizabeth died, she was originally laid to rest with her grandparents Henry VII & Elizabeth of York, on their vault." When James became king, "he'd earmarked Elizabeth's place for himself = & had her moved into her Sister's vault" adding indult to injury, by placing Elizabeth's coffin on top of Mary's. He then had his executed mother moved from Peterborough Cathedral to Westminster in 1606. Having fine tombs built for the much loved & mourned Elizabeth "with but the scarcest mention of Mary I." & had an "ever so slightly larger one, built for his own mother, Mary Queen of Scots." I'll do a piece on Elizabeth I, being moved, when I carry on with my "restless royal Corpses series." ✌️

It’s an interesting fact that more British Catholics were executed for their faith in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I than the entire existence of the Spanish Inquisition. Queen Mary’s meagre list was outstripped by Queen Elizabeth I by an enormous margin. The fact that we automatically assume otherwise is down to one thing: a massive and hugely successful propaganda exercise mounted from the HQ of the Protestant Church at the time; Geneva. As an Englishman who had always been taught otherwise I was very surprised to learn that these are documented historical facts.

The Church of Rome’s Popes (my Church, remember) recognises the British Monarch as the lawful Sovereign of the United Kingdom so who am I to disagree with the Pope? The late Queen did more for Anglo-Irish relations than any monarch before her. She even went so far to shake the hand of the murderers of her close relative Lord Louis Mountbatten, which is truly Christian.

Hi Nina. Initially Queen Elizabeth I "was buried in the vault with her grandparents, in the King Henry VII Lady Chapel." With no marker for her. In 1606 "3 years after her death" King James her successor, had her moved + this memorial made. His mother, Mary Queen of Scots executed in 1587 & originally buried in Peterborough Cathedral." King James, had her exhumed & moved to Westminster in 1612, & that's when her monument was made. So Elizabeth's 3 years after her death. & Mary's 25 years after her death ✌️

Mary was not Queen of England. But was a royal blood cousin and queen of Scotland.. Therefore recieved a burial in the royal tomb. But would not have been of standard an English Ruler received. Except her son became King of England and would have given her more prestige as his mother.

You are wrong Queen Mary I of Scotland (MQOS) was indeed buried as a Queen by the very state that illegally murdered her. Queen Mary was buried with the full pomp of a state funeral attended by the English nobility with Elizabeth personally represented by her friend the Countess of Bedford. Whilist Queen Mary did not actually rule in England she was the legitimate and rightful Queen of England as well of Scotland. Elizabeth Tudor was illegitimate. The officers of State at end of the state funeral broke their staffs of office which happens only to monarchs. It's very curious to note the English government and Elizabeth acordeded he full dignity and Majesty of a Queen who they accused of treason and then murdered her on trumped up fabricated evidence. I am not aware of any other person so condemned given a State funeral by that estate. It is without doubt an admission and acknowledgement of guilt they had committed regicide against their legitimate and rightful Queen. When Queen Mary's son King James VI of Scotland inherited his rightful claim to the English crown through his Mother in 1603 .sent a velvet Pall to hang over his mother's tomb in Peterborough cathedral . In 1612 King James had his mother's body brought to Westminster Abbey and placed in the magnificent tomb he ensured his mother's rightful and legitimate claim to the English crown was acknowledged from which his right came. It is Queen Mary I of Scotland ,the legitimate and rightful Queen of England bloodline that sits on the British Throne today,King Charles III IS 14TH IN direct descent from Queen Mary of Scotland as do most of the monarchs in Europe. Queen Mary shares her tomb with many of her Stuart descendants , eg her granddaughter Elizabeth the Winter Queen, grandsons Henry Prince of Scotland , England and Wales, her Gr Grandson' Princess Rupert of tbe Rhine and her cousin Arabella Stuart with the dead Children of her GGr Granddaughter Queen Anne unlike Elizabeth who shares a tomb with her half sister Queen Mary I. Also just up from Queen Mary's tomb which is he most elaborate and imposing tomb in Westminster Abbey at the Winter is the Stuart Vault that contains the remains of more of Queen Mary's Stuart descendants, her Gr Grandson' Charles II,Gr Grandson' William II of Scotland III of England, her Granddaughters Queen Mary II of Scotland and England, Queen Anne of Scotland and England and the very first monarch of Great Britain. Queen Mary had a terrible time but despite it all she has ultimately triumphed .those who falsely condemned her including Elizabeth Tudor will answer on the day of judgement for he murder of their legitimate and rightful Queen. .Rest in peace Queen Mary ❤❤

@@lisanixon9284 You have got mixed up here Margaret Douglas was Henry VIII s neice not sister who was daughter of Queen Margaret Tudor and sister to Henry VIII. Margaret Douglas was Aunt to Mary Queen of Scots not grandmother, nor was she mother to a Scottish King, her son Henry Stuart,Lord Darnley ,he was merely King consort by his wife's wish not v parliament. Both Queen Mary and Henry Lord Darnley grandmother was Queen Margaret Tudor wife of King James IV of Scotland Queen Mary's claim was superior to Darnley s coming from first marriage , Darnley descended from 2nd marriage of Queen Margaret Tudor, making Queen Mary an Darnley first cousins on maternal side but I think 3rd cousin's on the Paternal side as Darnley was descended through his father Mathew Stuart from James III of Scotland. All nicely connected but unfortunately Darnley was not worthy of his Stewart blood but definitely of his Tudor bloodline
