- Bamboo (bamglue) neck from Oakland Axe Factory. Headless bridge from krappyguitars.com. Mahogany body. Carvin twin blade humbucking pickups. Ten strings in the uncrossed configuration. Recorded on Linux with Ardour and Blender.
This is a Chamberlan Stick. Invented in the 70's in L.A. The big strings are in the middle for the bass and the melody line strings are on the outside.
Sounds quite straight forward. I think I will give it a try...Thanks again.
Thanks. That is actually a guitar pickup on the bass side. It does pretty well. You are correct, that is Ardour and Time Machine. Linux rocks.
@nmonteleone9104 I think you mean Chapman Stick. My tuning is called inverted 4ths. The Chapman sticks typically use fifths on the bass side (with lowest string in the middle) and 4ths on the melody side.
@aschroed50 Thanks ! Well I decided on a 34" scale, the typical bass guitar scale. From experience I knew that making the shorter side 1.5 inches shorter would be a good amount of fanning. So then I used the online fret position calculators and got the fret distances for the 34" scale and the 32.5" scale. I marked them, then cut them. It is not that hard once you do a couple.
Great to see it up and running...sounds great I like the growl on the bass strings.
Is that Ardour that I see?
Hey, this is great. Where did you learn the measurements/dimensions for total length and frets? Is this available online? Thanks.
Hello - I am now the proud owner of this instrument as of a few hours ago, lol. Would love to pick your brain about it!
