The standard 440 Mopar made about 330 horsepower factory, which was one of their slower big block. Something must be severely wrong with that engine. Motorhome transmissions are also geared really low for more wheel torque, so if you bought the exact same transmission as the motorhome one, then I'd say that's your problem
330 brand new that motor is very very worn out

330 crank horsepower. That’s maybe 260 wheel horsepower. So yeah it’s underpowered but not by as much as you would think.
timing is way off in that engine. also the cam must be worn down to shlt.

If you are replacing the engine, put that engine that is currently in the charger in a Miata. The 200 hp will feel like 1000! :)

You nailed it man!! My highschool car is coming back home after I sold it years ago!! It's not the best body style of Fairlane,it's not the cleanest example of one either. But there are lots of good time memories in that car!! The pipe of parts I have for it make it handle and run awesome, but she won't be pretty!

That old motor was definitely sick. About 9 years ago, I had built a backyard blow thru turbo chevy 267 sbc, and it put down 252whp/316wtq thru poor tuneup at 8psi on my old Malibu. I cannot wait to see yours with the new combo!
