Thanks ! Two downsides to this approach: 1) You have to carry around a hex wrench to tune it 2) The process of wrapping the string around the wing nut is a little difficult, especially with a low string like .070
Yes they work pretty well. Only two slight downsides: 1 Wrapping the string (and removing the windings on the thicker strings) takes some practice. 2 I have to keep an allen wrench / hex key around to tune it. But it cost me about $10 US. I can only imagine what a manufactured headless 8 string bridge would cost me, if I could even find it. And for sure it would be heavier than this wood approach, which would be bad for an acoustic instrument. I copied this bridge from the uncle bob guitar tuner page. cyberferal.com/UncleBob/design.html
