Nice dude. I just made 10 of these in size 12 and 10 . Had to use red craft fur and chop it up into 1/4 inch parts and put it in a dubbing loop to make up for not having red Ostrich hurl. I'vve got grey ones but its the red accent that makes this whole thing come out. It's Great!!! It turned out incredible especially with minute lil changes. Thanks so much for this. I can already tell its gunna be a monster on the rivers.
Nice looking little fly. Glad it crossed over to other species. I think all the predatory fish will clamp onto something moving if it comes too close to their territory. Just my opinion. All the best, Sean
Beautiful pattern Ralph, sort of a tailed cruncher with a good minnow profile and movement. I can see why it works on crappie and the other species. I know purple and silver works for me with pickerel, have you tied it in any other colors? Thanks, love your work!
I just finished doing this one like his, and made 5 more with a darker yellowish brown mylar, white tail, white wire, and u.v. ice dub mixed in with the red behind the partridge. looks incredible.
Just got done with tying up some of these!!! What a great fly. I don't have any red ostrech so I tied-up a dubbing loop of red semi seal on top of the tinsel covered with uv glue, no wire. This should be indestructible and looks great. Told my fly-fishing buds of your video and they're all tying it. 🤠 Dave hughes
To be exact, for crappie, I fish it on a floating line and long leader. Cast it and let it sink to depth, then retrieve with 4-6" strips. If there are pickerel..,.hang on.
Doing well! Ready for the spring thaw so I can get up to the cabin. Last year it was early May before I can get up there. There's a reservoir near me that has a crappie run during the summer and this fly caught my eye.
@@darylhinton9064 nice. We're probably not going to have a late thaw here this year. Not alot of snow at all. I'll be float tubing the lower lakes as soon as they thaw though.
That's a VERY good looking pattern!! Do you fish that on a fly rod or a spinning reel. I bet it would also, be good if it was fished behind a small gold spinner blade. Have you ever tried that?? Thanks for sharing that good pattern.
No I haven't, but by all means give it a try. It fishes warm water for me best when slow retrieved with a twitch-pause. It is also an exceptional pattern for me drift under an indicator for trout. Thanks for the visit!
hey, just left a couple comments, just made a few changes with it... hope you don't mind if I make a few minute video on this fly. I can link it to ur site if you'd like also. Give me a heads up. I like this one. Just did 15 total now in 30 minutes. I think its a score!!!
Love the pattern - thanks for taking the time to make the video and make it available. I tied up a bunch and plan to use in the fall.

Awesome pattern, thanks
Pickerel will eat the size 12 fly? Impressive! It must look like a little minnow to them.

Sean, agreed, Pickerel aren't always picky. But they seem to like this one. Thanks for the visit.
very nice thanks for the post

Tell me about how you fish this for crappie. Do you fish it like a jig?
Yo! Big D! For crappie I fish it like a panfish streamer. But for trout I drift it as a nymph. How ya been?
