    For 80K, I would be *extremely* thankful to just have a home and not have a ton of mortgage debt.
    You managed to buy a house for hundreds of thousands of dollars less than what everyone else around you has paid.
    and now because you built the house, you're also going to save thousands of dollars on future home maintenance because you know how to repair it.
    Good on you!
    You're an example for everyone, in my opinion!

      I'm certainly happy with the final cost. It came out to more than I guesstimated early on, but I'm still happy and you're right: it was within the budget of my savings and thus I didn't have to take out a mortgage that would've added $150,000 extra on top or more?

    Ultimately, you have saved yourself thousands over the life of your home by doing the work yourself. Not only will you be able to repair/maintain the property, but also you building this for yourself you probably have a higher quality build. Having it built by a company you have no control over the quality of the work. By building it for yourself I'm certain that you took the time to do things right and not cut corners to hit some kind of deadline. Having that kind of security in knowing things were done right is absolutely priceless!

    I may have missed some aspects that seemed to be missing in your breakdown. In Australia, all container homes must be on a full concrete pad. They must also be fully insulated as shipping containers are freezing in winter and hot in summer. Connection to water, electricity, gas, and sewage must be carried out by licensed trades people. All plans must be submitted to the shire council. There must also be hardwired smoke alarms, exhaust fans in the bathroom and kitchen, and any other safety requirements met in the area you want to place the structure.

    Hello hope all is well. Nice work.. Love how everything came together. I wanted to ask, with cutting the containers, this has to change the structural strength I imagine, why did you choose wood framing over steel reinforcement? I know Steel is more expensive but to reinforce that strength won't steel be more beneficial?

    • @thinkoutsidethecontainer
      @thinkoutsidethecontainer  2 года назад +3

  • @SuperLuciaandrade
    @SuperLuciaandrade 9 месяцев назад +1

    This is exactly what my husband and I are going to do. We’ve just bought some land and we’re going to buy containers because we’re moving so those containers will be coming home we’re talking six containers that’s gonna be pretty big but yeah I love this idea I’ve always had this idea for years and years and now it’s going to happen and yes me and chickens and my fruit and veg garden is also happening self-contained take care of my kids and have enough food so we can be self-sufficient and that’s what life is now I understand a lot of people want to buy land were there from but some of us have to move countries and have a better quality of life and the UK is definitely not the place for us anymore. Yeah great thank you so much for the information its absolutely crucial on how we want to start our first container build and will help us a lot on our journey . Take care I’ll be watching. Can’t wait to watch what you make next ? Hope it’s a chicken coop or easy just buying one ? Or the next best thing all the bits of wood left over from the build could also build you a coop ? Take care of those bears ? We are off to South Africa so we’ll definitely have other guests trying to visit our chicken coop 😅who knows it could be naughty monkeys they love to get into the house and just rob you blind ? 😊. Good luck thanks again and I’ll be waiting for the next adventure.👍🏼✝️✌🏻
