This is the best video on you-tube for this repair bar none. You have included the little things that the rest leave out. Like the ear screen, camera guide piece the small grounding (earthing piece) with the battery connector the small clips that ground the loud speaker and much more. You are the best. Thanks for taking the time to show us the right way so we can be successful doing this repair. Keep up the good work.
+max98138 interesting points ,if anyone else wants to uncover how to use an iphone basics try Corbandy Instant Phone Crusher(should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
max98138 thank you for your post, been looking for a video to trust and this is it, your post made me watch it and it paid off plus your comment contained what I needed to know without bias opinion. Only say this as we need more of that instead of what we have to deal with nowadays lol Well done and thank you to the uploader too
This is, hands down, the most complete and thorough video on how to take apart and fully reassemble an iPhone4. All the other videos I have seen so far either skip crucial steps (like ejecting the SIM tray, reconnecting the 3G antenna, or making sure the small clips of the speaker assembly are in place) or are just plain wrong (I've seen videos where the grounding pin was attached AFTER the battery connector, or where the adhesive on the back of the LCD assembly was left on) If I had to nitpick, the only thing I think this video does not stress enough, is that it is VERY important to make sure you use the correct screw each hole, because, especially the 4.8mm screw on the top of the shield (which doubles as WiFi antenna according to iFixit) can crack your screen if it is inserted in the wrong hole. Great video, I am looking forward to your other ones.
If somebody tells you they have a screw size chart that you can print out in the description of the video so you can keep track of your screws it is pretty self-explanatory how important they are to keep track of!
This is hands down a wonderful video. Perfect explanation, and wonderful view of each individual part. But for those considering taking apart their phone, and doing their own repair be careful. I have an iphone 4, not the 4s, I figured the parts would be the same, and they aren't. I ordered a screen I thought was for an Iphone 4, its not. The parts are in different places the screw placement is different and I'm out a phone. My first and last DIY phone repair. So please take precautions. Im not trying to cause a problem I just don't want people in the same predicament as I am, and that is trying to reassemble what has become a ball of screws and double sided tape. But overall this is a great video, and I will continue watching your videos and I will continue my subscription.
I watched the whole video and I haven't even got the replacement ready for me to do it. This is without doubt the best video I've seen on RUclips. I am now much more confident than before thanks to your brilliant instructions. The video was clear, you zoomed it in so it's not complicated, you gave us advices to make this process much easier. Thank you so much!!!
This is by far the best iPhone 4 display replacement video i ever have used to fix my iPhone (i fixed already 3 by now). Thank you so much for your excellent work. The Oscar goes to you!
I have successfully replaced my LCD screen AND my Home button just now. This video has steps from A to Z (including how to put back all the parts). Very simple, clear and fantastic tutorial - I highly recommend! Thanks a million again !
This video is just probably the best I have ever seen for the iphone 4. I replaced a touch screen/digitizer and I broke the digitizer cable because on another site, they forgot to put emphase on that part. I bought another screen/digitizer and I will do it again using this video. Very good job guys. Now all that I need is a small set of screwdrivers better, much resistant and much longer than the ones I have. I will keep searching and find. Thank you again!
i would say you cant find a better teacher here on RUclips then lessons. I started watching hes clips lots of phones ago. lots. Just take ur time and be gentle, if u get uncertain watch it again before u do it! :)
This is without doubt the best RUclips instructional video I have seen. You answered every question just as I thought of it and pointed out pitfalls just when needed. Thanks heaps. Brilliant !
The best demonstration ever. Excellent photography showing every important detail. Well done ! Gave me a lot more confidence in doing this myself. Thanks.
A couple years ago, I watched this very video and felt I could replace my crazy digitizer. The phone types by itself if I try to touch it and loves to fill the text box with Ms and Ks. I can't delete as fast as it is typing. It chooses facetime when I'm trying to choose call. I can receive calls but rarely use the dial pad to call out. It adds numbers of its own to every phone number I try to dial. It's a second-hand phone that someone tried to update one level too high for the iPhone 4, then reverted back. It hadn't been crazy before that. Because of that, I tested the new screen/digitizer first, as you instructed. To my dismay, the phone was still typing crazy. I removed the new screen and sadly put it all back together without installing. After living with the mad thing for all this time, I've come back to watch this video again. I'm thinking I should try again. Maybe it won't type by itself once it's all complete? Have you any experience with phones gone nuts?
Thanks for good and clear instructions. I wished I watched this video first. I watched another 'good' video but ended with the two small rubber parts not fitted and the camera ring not transferred to the new screen.. I had to do it all over again...! Keep up the good work..!
I totally agree with you M I've watched about a dozen versions of this repair and this is by far the very best one I have seen. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the small details to watch out for. I can't wait to go through the rest of your videos just to find out what else I didn't know... Great job and Thanks again
Just followed your guide to fix my daughters iphone 4. Absolutely spot on. Do you know how much a apple charge for this service? I paid £30 for the complete kit, screwdrivers etc. Just interested on how much I've saved.
Hi, thanks for the excellent tutorial. Could you possibly recommend a screwdriver kit like what you use yourself? Been looking around and can't find anything specific, many thanks again
excellent work mate! but I have some questions, how I can know if a screen is reliable? I can see how the components will be a good quality ones? and the other thing, a glass back cover for iphone 4g will work on an iphone 4s?
Excellent video! But I forgot to remove the extra thin blue paper from the back side of the new display. It works fine though, but will there be any problem?
Hey man thanks alot im starting to fix iphones and i only knew how to fix 3gs but thanks to this i can have alittle knowledge on the 4, just curious... is the 5s and 5c tthe same as the 4s?
I love your videos there so clear and easy to understand! Could you please do a video on the iPhone 4S and point out where all the signal connectors are as that's something I'm not sure about currently.
Hey great video like always keep up the good work, whats the modal of the camera you are using and how old is it is there newer modal replacing your camera please, do i need something with the camera to get it so sharp and focus Thanks.
nice thank youu,I hope I'll survive doing this hahaha,so clear tutorial my iphone4 screen have black screen and trying to fix it should I replace the screen??
Excellent lesson. Shows you how you can pass on knowledge when experience and maturity underpins the presentation. Well done. If it needs anything, I'd suggest a tad more incidental commentary during the actions that take a little time. Just slightly more explanation. Subscribed.
I have an I phone with a cracked screen but im kind of nervous / scared to fix the screen myself, was just wondering if people would say its easy to do as long as I follow these steps or if I should just pay somebody else to do it?
Hey Le55ons, I loved this video, it's very insightful and helpful. Can you give any tips on where we can get a quality screen? A cursory glance on Amazon revealed complaints about sub par sharpness or contrast. Any tips? Also (out of curiosity) why does there seem to be a difference between screens for the CDMA and gsm models? Thanks.
Hi wow, lighting fast response, thanks! I'm not even sure which screws do what. I used two of the ones w washers and made sure the washers were in front of the screen clip like you said in your video- i put one on each side. one on bottom and on on top/one on each side. a few as you say means 3 so do i need another? I hope I have enough in to hold everything in place. do the ones that i put in all 4 corners help? I was able to use each of those. is there a check list that i can look at to make all is working well? Do I need that rubber strip to put at top of logic board that protects the new ribbons w new screen? I would hate to damage that and need a new screen as the one I bough was quite expensive. I can't thank you enough for your support and help here! it's an amazing video and just made my week! maybe year!
the ones in the corners do most of the work, if the screen is sitting down on the frame then there's no problem with the others missing. There's no checklist, just follow this video and you should be fine. The rubber strip does help protect the flex if you still have it. I recently replaced a screen in an iPhone and found the rubber strip and a few screws were missing. They said the screen had been replaced at the apple store!
OK....you are a fucking legend, I just replaced my screen, home button, and speaker. I now have a practically new iphone. Without a doubt your repair videos are the best on you tube by far. Thanks you my friend. I owe you one big time. :-)
Great video! Also kudos on the Galaxy s4 one as well. I bought a car at an auction and it had an IPhone 4s in it. (I know my lucky day) but when I put it to charge nothing happens the screen is completely pitch black. What could be the problem?
Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble getting those flat head screws out along the side (the one's w/ washers) I managed to get a couple out but I have 4 more to go! Any tips on getting these out. I'm worried that i might have stripped the star on top. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much and thanks more for the awesome video!
the best way is to have a screwdriver that fits nicely, try a longer thinner screwdriver or take one of the screws to a local hardware store and find one that fits tight in the screw
Hi. Thank you very much for your clear explanation. This video is the best one to follow. Others are all taking apart put not many of them put back together. If possible would you be able to an other video about the volume button and top on/off switch please? I am not 100% sure if I can manage it. I would love to be able to fix my wifes' phone. Otherwise she will make me spend few hundred pounds for a new phone. Thank you very much.
hell yea, i cant wait to get my screen and digitizer. hopefully everything goes good sailing. lol im pretty good with android... but the iphone disassembly and assembly is way way off the chain. lol. but im pretty confident i will be able to do it.
As the OS is almost obsolete for this model is it possible to reinstall with your own? I don't how difficult, just a way or a direction to follow instead of wasting time :)
Hi guys im a repairer and the 5C an 5S have the same size screen as the 5 but have different size connection clips which sucks , just FYI if you do end up doing a 5s becareful pulling the bottom end of the screen out due to another ribbon being put in because of the fingerprint scanner, be mindful thats there are lots up the top of the screen for the digitizer, etc Cheers Matt - TechFORCE Phone Repairs
Your videos are art.. :) I love ya' pal.. Can't wait to see you disassemble other unibody phones, Moto X, Oppo Find 5, HTC One..... Thank you very much.
Would this repair correct a touch screen that the right side is not responding? Screen OK just can't turn on anything on right side of the touch screen??
Hi! Thank you so much for your quick reply! someone at work managed to get them out minutes ago with pliers. the screws probably wont screw back in since the tops are stripped. what do you think? im about to buy some on ebay. unless you have a better source for these flat top crews and washers. thanks again. i am having a lot of fun with this and hope and pray that I can fix my phone once i jup through these hoops:)
don't worry too much about those screws, it will work perfectly fine without them, as long as you have a few to stop the screen from falling off you probably won't even notice. I would make sure its all working ok before buying new screws
Its hard to tell if you are buying a good quality screen as the market is flooded with compatibles. I know etradesupply, com are not cheap but they sell genuine oem high quality screens and not cheap copies. You can use coupon code ETS2 for a little discount. The 4g and 4s back covers are different and not interchangeable
Hi mate, can i 1st say thanks for vid great help, but you know placing the home button and connecting the ribbing you lift that latch to plug the home button in and close the latch, well ive done that but the ribbing from the button still comes out its will that be ok like that?? thanksd matt
A problem I ran into, one of my screws, the one at 1:50 in your video, has a stripped head. I spent a few hours on google/youtube searching and trying different methods of removing it and nothing works. Could I possibly break the screw head to remove the black cover? That may be too traumatic for the delicate iphone parts. Any advice? I'm just needing to replace my front screen, but can't get past that screw!
I replaced the screen but now my iPhone is searching for the carrier even when I take the sim out it still say searching when it should say no sim ? Any suggestion ?
Juan Cabrera jr: "I replaced the screen but now my iPhone is searching for the carrier even when I take the sim out it still say searching when it should say no sim ? Any suggestion ?" You likely broke a cable or left one loose.

Excellent instructions. Only had one screw left over!!
IPhone 4 as good as new now with new screen, back cover, battery and home button. All for £30.
Best video instruction on youtube for changing screens on smartphones. Man you're incredible!!

Excellent tutorial! But don't forget to mask the front sensors because if you miss it the screen won't go black when you make calls.. Thanks!
Best tutorial on youtube. Seriously. Great job, man.
Great video! With the help of you I actually repaired a broken iPhone 4 that someone threw in the trash where I live, and now I use that phone lol
Hi, thanks for the excellent tutorial. Could you possibly recommend a screwdriver kit like what you use yourself? Been looking around and can't find anything specific, many thanks again

Awesome tutorial, best I've ever seen. Does this also apply for the iPhone 4S or is that a little different to the iPhone 4? Thanks!
I love your videos there so clear and easy to understand! Could you please do a video on the iPhone 4S and point out where all the signal connectors are as that's something I'm not sure about currently.
I watched your video and replaced it with my iPhone 4 LCD. Thank you. friend.
Why do I find this therapeutic???.. 😩
엄청 자세하게 설명해줘서 굉장히 고마워요. 1시간 걸려서 따라하고 끝냈는데 나사 하나가 남았어요 ㅠㅠ 그래도 잘 켜지네요! 감사합니다!
Good Job! Very Patient with replacing screws and details of what could go wrong!!
Hey great video like always keep up the good work, whats the modal of the camera you are using and how old is it is there newer modal replacing your camera please, do i need something with the camera to get it so sharp and focus
Thanks.
Absolutely excellent voice, camera and general presentation so good....thanks for posting
How do you handle the focusing, lessons? I mean it's apparent you're not using your hands .. so i assume it's a post-editing effect?
thank you for this video! You explain everything on here that other videos have failed to do. Now i have confidence that i can do it!
Excellent vid :)
My screen shattered last week, but i'm not confident to fix it... is it possible to send it to you for repair? I don't mind paying.

Amazing everything worked out perfectly!!!!!!!
yeh my first iphone fix what a great tutorial well demonstrated easy to understand thanx man
Excellent lesson.
Shows you how you can pass on knowledge when experience and maturity underpins the presentation. Well done.
If it needs anything, I'd suggest a tad more incidental commentary during the actions that take a little time. Just slightly more explanation.
Subscribed.
NB It's not a sim, nor a SIM; it's a SIM-card carrier. :)
You rock, its detailed and tips oriented. Very helpful for the fresher. Thanks a ton for such a great video
I have an I phone with a cracked screen but im kind of nervous / scared to fix the screen myself, was just wondering if people would say its easy to do as long as I follow these steps or if I should just pay somebody else to do it?
thx man, you saved my life! and your video has much more details than the others, good job!
Thank you, I have replaced 3 different parts, great video
I've not seen one yet but they looks very similar
After I replaced the LCD screen of the iPhone 4, the phenomenon of light openings. Guide me to overcome this situation. Thanks!
it might be a faulty new screen, can you try plugging in the old one..
going to try this today....wish me luck. Nice video too, thanks for posting. I will update status later
It could be many things but I would guess its water damaged
can i replace my homebutton without messing up my screen?
i mean is there a danger of cracking the screen?
Thank you =)
A big thank you so much to you sir! I do all my repair from all your video u shared. Hope I can have a coffee with u one day.haha
Will you make iPhone 4S Display Screen Replacement video?
Awesome tutorial!! thanks a lot! took me 4 hours but i finaly did it.
hell yea, i cant wait to get my screen and digitizer. hopefully everything goes good sailing. lol im pretty good with android... but the iphone disassembly and assembly is way way off the chain. lol. but im pretty confident i will be able to do it.
As the OS is almost obsolete for this model is it possible to reinstall with your own? I don't how difficult, just a way or a direction to follow instead of wasting time :)
Where do you recommend that i get the digitizer and the screen? Are they glued together or do they get sold separately?
Hi guys im a repairer and the 5C an 5S have the same size screen as the 5 but have different size connection clips
which sucks , just FYI if you do end up doing a 5s becareful pulling the bottom end of the screen out due to another ribbon being put in because of the fingerprint scanner, be mindful thats there are lots up the top of the screen for the digitizer, etc
Cheers
Matt - TechFORCE Phone Repairs
thanks sir, very very nice tutorial
Excellent vid many thanks. start to finish with all instructions.

Thanks! Scored some points with my wife by repairing her phone.
Hi there, listen if i want to change my cover of a iphone 4s from black to white are there the same steps to make?thank you
yes, a new white screen and make sure you have a new white home key
Perfect job with perfect explanation, thanks
Hey I watched your video many time my camera gotten messed up and I replaced it .and it still doesn't work any suggestion?
I think it's just the camcorder's auto-focus, which is quite snappy since the scene is very well lit.
Thank you very much Excellent fantastic in the way you teach..God bless you.
Hi mate, can i 1st say thanks for vid great help, but you know placing the home button and connecting the ribbing you lift that latch to plug the home button in and close the latch, well ive done that but the ribbing from the button still comes out its will that be ok like that??
thanksd

A problem I ran into, one of my screws, the one at 1:50 in your video, has a stripped head. I spent a few hours on google/youtube searching and trying different methods of removing it and nothing works. Could I possibly break the screw head to remove the black cover? That may be too traumatic for the delicate iphone parts. Any advice? I'm just needing to replace my front screen, but can't get past that screw!
I liked this vid because it's nice to watch an iphone get dissected.
There's a lot more glue and stuff going on compared to droids...
I replaced the screen but now my iPhone is searching for the carrier even when I take the sim out it still say searching when it should say no sim ? Any suggestion ?
does this video also work with the iPhone 4s, is it the same steps?
Yeah pretty much identical. I think that's why he didn't make a 4S video.
Very helpful! I followed every step succsessfully, thanks a lot!
