After a drop my Lumia 720 got its screen busted, and because of that I found your video. Another thing is that the mic stopped working (actually began to work erratically) a few days after the crash. I had figured its connector had probably unlatched because of the impact and was going to dismantle the whole phone to get it set properly, but as your video shows its location, I just turned the phone screen down and squished it around that connector area. Works like a charm now. Thanks a lot! Now for the screen repair... I'm gonna try to unbond the glass/digitizer and re-glue it to the lcd. I can comment how it went here, if anyone's interested.
Viktor Mars Nope. Instead of separating the glass from the LCD I managed to destroy the LCD. I was cautious and did not apply much force to it, but the screen is VERY EASY to tear. When it does, a dozen layers of polarizers and micro lenses arrays and diffusers came pouring from inside it. It's amazing how many layers make the screen in these phones! Anyway, that busted the phone for good and I would not recommend trying this aproach. Buy the screen+frame and simply replace the internals. I've bought this assembly for around 40 USD and will, once again, try to repair the thing. Also, the mic worked for about a week before beginning to stutter again, so I already bought a new mic+usb PCB assembly (around 3 usd). There's no reason to throw the phone away because of two components, so i'm not giving up on it!
Vinicius Abreu any links you could provide us with where we could source the whole assembly? I'm sorry to read that you have had shattered it, after reading this I've pretty much stopped right after reading your comment. I just don't know now, whether after separating the LCD from the digitizer, if attaching together requires the same sort of sticky translucent tape or I'll be fine without it and just glueing the edges ? thanks mate
Mate, you rock! I've fixed loads of screens/phones by following your guides. They are always very clear and easy to follow (I for one appreciate you putting these on youtube). Keep up the good work ;)
Great video !! I'd like also to mention that we can see that this is a very high quality mobile phone. Then only dark point is that the digitizer can not be separed/replaced independently of the LCD screen Keep on with your excellent job!!
Great video. Very clear and informative (as usual). I have found that separating the digitizer from the LCD is extremely tricky, much harder than the Samsung Galaxy S3/S4, and almost impossible. If you are going to attempt a repair I would recommend replacing the LCD, Glass & Digitizer at the same time.
Very useful video, I just managed to fix my phone and now everythng works properly! My problem was a broken glass, even if when I opened it I realized that the lcd was cracked as well. So I bought the display lcd+glass on eBay for around € 30 (this made everything even easier) and replaced it. Grazie mille ;)
awesome!!! I broke my Lumia 720 glass and was thinking of repairing it myself. Thanks i didn't think it was that easy!!! I'm going replace mine and I'll subscribe if it works!!! Care charged me half of the amount of the phone.
Most important is to keep the battery disconnected until its 100% dry inside, even if it seems to work ok it can stop working after a few days. Any trapped water will slowly eat away at the copper circuit. As the warranty is now voided remove the back cover and unplug the battery, then leave the phone in a stream of hot air for an hour or more. Try and keep the temperature below 70ºC. If you have access to a vacuum chamber it would only take 30 minutes for it to be 100% dry
You sir, deserve more likes! I'd had a problem with mine with the volumen down button, but only disassembly and assembly can solve it! Now I think I would buy a new body :D Thank you!
Thanks a lot. Only two notes .. For the first screw i had to use a T3 screwdriver. I had to replace my rear camera and when i was able to do it , i found that it was glued to the case...
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Camilo Ramon i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
One of the best videos that i have seen about how to Disassembly & Assembly. Many thanks. I dropped my phone and the digitizer stopped working i think it is due to the digitizer connector disconnecting from main board. Any thoughts on this issue?
I used to do the voice over live but when I made a mistake I had to put the phone back together and start again. This took many hours until I started doing the voiceover after editing the video together :-)
Amazing as always. So clean, complete (and relaxing). I wonder what kind of glue is that flexible glue. I'll try to Google it and see it's components. Maybe I find a similar one here.
what kind of an adhesive is that you are using? ... for anyone attempting to do this, it's relatively easy, but make sure that you apply a lot of heat to the screen when attempting to detach it from the frame, and also if separating the digitizer from the lcd. that make a lot of a difference.
U made it look so easy that I tried this out and my screen works just fine now. :) But the camera app won't open and when I double tap to wake the screen, it does not wake up. I guess it is the proximity sensor perhaps, that is not working? Please help...
Excellent channel, sir! I do hope your promise to cover the TOUCH/LCD Separation in a future video (like you said @19:00) will be held SOONER than later! I definitely need to get a look into this (touch cracked). I wonder if your video on L920 would be equivalent on that. Doubt on it..
I wondered that. I believe L720 looks like L900 on that matter. Actually nobody has published a successful separataton of those 2 "bad boys" except after 8 hrs of airdryer.. ^^ Add to that nobody showed how to repack them later. The fact that the digitizer only is sold (over ebay) w/o any bundled adhesive film feels like quite problematic.. All that said your technique of the wire would definitely be worth seeing.. ;)
***** Sorry to come back on that matter, but I just discovered that all the LCD+Touch I can see on sale come with the Frame bundled already. Are you aware of any LCD/Touch bare assy selling? I mean, all your dedication with the hot air gun to gently separate the metal frame from the LCD/Touch would be meaningless if the only sellable parts around are with the frame included.. Thanks and keep up with the good work!
TheMacco26 If would be nice if only the complete assembly was for sale, but as time goes on and the compatables start flooding the market you'll see the screens for sale without the frame. Lots of people buy the screen only without realising. Hopefully this one covers both..
Hi Thanks for this very informative video. I own a lumia 720 and its power button is not functioning properly ( there is some contact issue ) so for repairing that do I need to remove the flex strip with camera, volume and power from the frame. ??
Congrats for your excellent video(s). I'm going through the part not yet covered here, I mean the replacement of the touch digitizer glass alone. Although already having the LOCA glue and UV lamp to cure this, I still had a surprise: are the lower, smaller flex of the digitizer glass and the LCD flex, soldered together (4 tabs) as it seems? Thanks!
Your video is no doubt very appropriate. I have a small doubt If suppose the front glass is damaged(broken) but everything is intact and the phone is working excellently. Only problem is the broken glass looks bad. If I want to replace only the glass(leaving the LCD), would u think it wll work out. Need your valuable advice at the earliest
Great video. I replaced the screen. Everything went seemingly well but when I first started the device and after giving the pin a message appeared: Try again in 221864 minutes. -- Basically nothing can be done to proceed anywhere. The volume can be controlled and I can swipe out the action center and see some notifications but if I press any of those nothing happens. I'd rather not do hard reset since I have some really important data there. Any ideas?
This looks like quite a complicated phone to take apart. I reckon one of these days you should make a video about the HTC One. Where you basically just use a chainsaw to split it into two parts, and then duct-tape them back together. :)
Hi I've repaired many phones with your tutorials so very greatful for what you've put up!!! I do have a question, I've replaved an lcd on the lumia 720. The LCD works, but the digitiser doesn't? When I enquired via a phone call to local a repair shop, they said there are different revision numbers which aren't compatible? As I threw the old one away, I can't tell what the old one was, if any? To your knowledge, is this correct or do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks.
I realised the problem now. Because the seller would not change the part if faulty and fitted, I only placed the motherboard in position rather than screw into place, so the spring clips on the back wasn't making contact to the ribbon flex on the frame. Thanks for your response! And good job with your videos too! Have a good day/night
Hi LE55ONS, i have broken digitizer amd i want to change it but im too scary to do it by myself without your guide, so can make a video where you change the digitizer if it is possible?
Dear Sir, Your video was very helpful. I replaced the touchscreen Yesterday night saccessfully. Just one thing went wrong, the microphone doesn't work anymore after re-assembly (I've to use headphone to do a phone call) . Have You any suggestion? Thanks. Marco
hello! my camera button was not working i tried to check whats the prob by watchng ur video but when i turned the cover back phone is now not even starting :O
Well my phone will not turn on and its been about 2 weeks since I dropped my phone in water. I was hoping that if I take apart my phone, wipe down the circuits with alcohol or something and put it back together that my phone will work again. Is this possible?
Just subscribed (couldn't do anything else). The Digitizer is what I'd call "Display" and the screen would be the "touch glass"? If I need to only change the glass that broke, do I need to disassemble everything step by step or I can do it in another way? Thanks very much. Great video.
its a bit tricky trying to replace the glass on its own, this video shows how its done.. cambio tactil o vidrio nokia lumia 720 , remplace touch or glass lumia 720
Yes, that was the first one I saw but honestly since he messed up I didn't take it seriously like I did with your video. Still i'm not confident on myself so i'm not going to try. Thanks very much thought :)
what if i only have a new glass without a digitzer attached...does that also work? my screen is shattered and i want to replace it, however i only received the glass without the digitizer.
I just tried separating the shattered digitizer from the LCD. I did not succeed, and now don't think it's possible, at least not without some very special rig. The problem is that, as pointed out in this video, LCD is glued very strongly to the digitizer but at the same time the LCD is very thin and flimsy, backed by bendy plastic instead of metal. The front glass on it (if that's a glass at all) is way thinner than a millimetre. The end result was that the piece that I managed to separate (with the help of the hot air gun and a gold variety of molybdenum wire for mobile repair) was not the whole LCD, just the backlight. Wire sliced through the display itself instead of through the glue -- that's how strong that glue is, and how flimsy the LCD is.
Hey, i just got a call from the service station saying that the capacitive button malfunction was caused by some unknown liquid, so they are not willing to repair it. Do you have any suggestions what to do with it? :D very helpful vid btw (Y)
my glass got cracked its been 4 months now and it worked pretty good. but now the screen is abruptly working on its own like opening apps closing on its own and some crap. what do i do? it costs so much to repair with a new screen. I've searched for display screen on internet thinking i cud get it for lesser price, but the searches showed "Digitalizer screen" and "LCD screen+digitalizer",digitalizer costs much lesser than LCD and i'm confused what to buy and what exactly the problem with my screen is. can u explain me what is the difference btw them and suggest what to buy? as my phone just got cracked but worked properly till yesterday,it aint working properly now though. plz suggest me something,im waiting, thank you.
I ordered the glass surface of 720 ... you can separate lcd from the glass? I saw that in the video did not averte. If yes, how do you separate them? thanks
the sensitive circuit thing u talk about at 10:44 ....i got that thing broken on my 720 and from a while my phone is not charging at all..... is this charging issue is because of ths thing ...if yes...can i get it fixed?
also my phone have broken side power button flex cable ...due to this side buttons doesnt work except the power button ...does this thing can b responsible for charging issue or is it alone due to usb flex... sorry for these tons of issues...
Hi. I wanted to replace my protective glass that broke. I could still see display clearly and work on my phone, but touch was tricky so i decided to change it. It is made from three parts. Lowest part (closest to batery) i guess that is display was good, and i wanted to replace two upper parts that were glued together (upper is see throught like glass, and lower is dark see through). When replacement arrived it was one part (just a see through like normal glass). When i replaced all i turned cell on screen was white. What have i done wrong? Is it possible that dark see through part was actual screen, and lowest part is just light or? Im total noob on this topic
It sounds like you have the 'glass screen only' which is not possible on this phone. You will need to buy the display assembly which is the screen and display together. Here's a link below and you can use coupon code ETS2 for a little discount which also gives me credit www.etradesupply.com/oem-nokia-lumia-720-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly-with-front-housing.html
this is 'optical adhesive' which is used to bond the glass screen to the display. There are some videos on here showing how it can be done with 'LOCA' which is a liquid that sets with uv light..
Hello kind one. Where can I get a little LED-Flash for my Lumia 720? I get one via online store but without a Led-Flash. :( I Have just a empty plastic hole :( Please help me
Well, this was really helpfull...but my phone (actually the same showed here) doesn't charge at 100%....i use my default charger and it does charge normally but just to 74%...and no more...it can't reach the 100%....do you know the cause of this? thanks ;D
Hi, i have a L720 and the microphone stopped working.. Do you know something about this issue? i guess i will try to open it and see what what i can do, thank you btw
I had the same problem with this one and after replacing the usb/mic flex it still didn't work. I took a chance and bought another usb/mic flex and it works perfect 22:41
I dropped my phone from my pocket and the upper side hit the floor quite hard. The screen only shows me black visual, but from the finger gesture I made, I'm sure it's still functioning normally. Like when I tried to hold search button to activate Cortana, or slide the screen down to shutdown the phone after holding the power/lock screen button. It's only doesn't have any visual on the screen. Do I need to get another new display? What should I do?
I tried to remove the lcd from the digitizer using a heatgun and some fishing line. It's impossible to do so. A screen lcd is made up of multiple "films"/"panels". Using some thin fishing wire and a heatgun I was only able to seperate the back films from the front ones. Once you seperate these, the lcd is useless. Even if they didn't seperate, the front part of the lcd is so strongly bonded to the digitzer that it shatters when you try and pull it off. I'm actually confused at why the digitzer is able to be purchased seperately. Tl;dr - you can't remove the lcd from the digitzer.
***** I'd love to see a Lumia 1020 Teardown video as well :) Many thanks for all the other videos you've done. The Lumia 920 Teardown helped me with my phone a few weeks back.
Does 720 and 820 has the same lcd? I want to get the LCD of my 820 and put on my 720 I want an amoled display.. Or do I can order 720 amoled LCD screen?
Your tutorials have been nominated as unintentional asmr. Congrats on your achievement
I have listened to lessons videos for years to help me sleep.
it's 2022 and I've just brought my old Lumia 720 back to life thanks to this video. Thank you very much for that!
Btw, please don't stop uploading these videos. They're so helpful and clear.

Viktor Mars Nope. Instead of separating the glass from the LCD I managed to destroy the LCD. I was cautious and did not apply much force to it, but the screen is VERY EASY to tear. I just love watching your videos even though i dont have problems with my phones(lumia 520,820,925) i think you're the best here in youtube keep it up
Great video !! I'd like also to mention that we can see that this is a very high quality mobile phone. Then only dark point is that the digitizer can not be separed/replaced independently of the LCD screen

By far the most awesome video for lumia 720 repair....hats off
Very thorough and well done tutorial. I fixed my phone without any prior experience. Thanks a lot!
awesome!!! I broke my Lumia 720 glass and was thinking of repairing it myself. Thanks i didn't think it was that easy!!! I'm going replace mine and I'll subscribe if it works!!! Care charged me half of the amount of the phone.
Highly appreciated. Replaced the LCD without a hitch. Wonderful video.
If you have access to a vacuum chamber it would only take 30 minutes for it to be 100% dry
it's great that you've started to make videos, thanks for your work!)
you really helped me when i was dissasembling my galaxy s 2!)
Thanks many thanks, excelent video , I've repaired my phone with your tutorial so very greatful for what you have put up. (From Leon,Gto. Mexico).
yes, I have one on the way to me and I hope to shoot in the next few weeks..
You sir, deserve more likes! I'd had a problem with mine with the volumen down button, but only disassembly and assembly can solve it! Now I think I would buy a new body :D Thank you!
Did you fully disassembly? Or you just removed the rear casing? Because I aslo have the volume down issue.
hi, you only need to put of the case and there is the button flex, but is a full line (vol up, vol, down, block and camera)
Amazing what u r doing....simply amazing.....thumb up!...keep doing what u do.
Bravo from Patrutz(Rome,Italy).
Thanks a lot.
Only two notes .. For the first screw i had to use a T3 screwdriver.
I had to replace my rear camera and when i was able to do it , i found that it was glued to the case...
your voice is so soothing that you can put a crying baby to sleep..... very educational video
Thank you very very much for this video! I just replaced my screen and digitizer with your introductions :)
me too :)

it might be worth checking the plug but you'll probably need a new display assembly
yes I've done the Note 10.1 and the Nexus 7, I hope to cover them all one day..
I'm not sure when, but I will have a go. I've been told its much harder than doing a Galaxy S3..

Some of the comments below say they have tried without success, so you'll need to replace the digitizer and display assembly
are you going to make a video for nokia lumia 520 disassembly?!!
Amazing... you show every detail ! Good job !
you should do a nokia lumia 520 full disassembly i will be glad if you do..
Thx for video and instructions, but how can I fix the SIM tray? It doesn't close...

Please man make one this video for lg l7 II. There is no videos in youtube for that phone
is that the p710 or 715?
Dear Sir, can you show us how to disassemble the plastic sim/sd card cover from the metal tray? many many thanks!!!
When are you going to separate the touchscreen from the lcd screen?
Hi
I've repaired many phones with your tutorials so very greatful for what you've put up!!!
Thanks.
I didn't think there was different revisions for this model, I would try another digitizer...
Duane Massey Good news..
love his voice
Hi LE55ONS, i have broken digitizer amd i want to change it but im too scary to do it by myself without your guide, so can make a video where you change the digitizer if it is possible?
Dear Sir, Your video was very helpful. I replaced the touchscreen Yesterday night saccessfully. Just one thing went wrong, the microphone doesn't work anymore after re-assembly (I've to use headphone to do a phone call) . Have You any suggestion? Thanks. Marco
the microphone does seem to go wrong in these phones. I would try another usb flex which comes with the mic
exactly what I was afraid of... A lot of Thanks for Your kind help. Best Regards. Marco
possibly, I'll try and get hold of one..
Hi great videos! Can you do disassemble videos about tablets and notebooks.
To replace the lumia 1520 is the same process?
hello! my camera button was not working i tried to check whats the prob by watchng ur video but when i turned the cover back phone is now not even starting :O
you're great.today I received only the glass, look a video to try change it.
any news?
and what is that wire with you are spliting the digitizer made of ?
Well my phone will not turn on and its been about 2 weeks since I dropped my phone in water. I was hoping that if I take apart my phone, wipe down the circuits with alcohol or something and put it back together that my phone will work again. Is this possible?
Hello, what should I check if, after I reassembled the phone, the home and go back touch buttons don't light up?
I broke the earpiece while removing it, should i leave it out? Will it have an affect on the motherboard?
Just subscribed (couldn't do anything else). The Digitizer is what I'd call "Display" and the screen would be the "touch glass"? If I need to only change the glass that broke, do I need to disassemble everything step by step or I can do it in another way? Thanks very much. Great video.

I dropped my phone in water, what all the things I can I do to fix my lumia 520 when I disassemble it? Thank you.
Do you have any video about the Lumia 730/5??? D:
Excellent video. I'va managed to repair my phone without any problems.
and another one :-)

The front glass on it (if that's a glass at all) is way thinner than a millimetre. The end result was that the piece that I managed to separate (with the help of the hot air gun and a gold variety of molybdenum wire for mobile repair) was not the whole LCD, just the backlight. Wire sliced through the display itself instead of through the glue -- that's how strong that glue is, and how flimsy the LCD is.
thanks for the heads up, I also have the molybdenum wire and was going to have a go on camera, even if it goes wrong it might be worth uploading..
***** Plz do!! As many here I have the digitizer scratched and wanted to se if its possible to repair. Great channel!

All the gear you have, and A4 sheets are the trick!
Very good! Thanks again.
Hey, i just got a call from the service station saying that the capacitive button malfunction was caused by some unknown liquid, so they are not willing to repair it. Do you have any suggestions what to do with it? :D very helpful vid btw (Y)
It might be worth trying a new screen
What is the wire what i need to use, when im taking glass ?
my glass got cracked its been 4 months now and it worked pretty good. but now the screen is abruptly working on its own like opening apps closing on its own and some crap. what do i do? it costs so much to repair with a new screen. I've searched for display screen on internet thinking i cud get it for lesser price, but the searches showed "Digitalizer screen" and "LCD screen+digitalizer",digitalizer costs much lesser than LCD and i'm confused what to buy and what exactly the problem with my screen is. can u explain me what is the difference btw them and suggest what to buy? as my phone just got cracked but worked properly till yesterday,it aint working properly now though. plz suggest me something,im waiting, thank you.
yes akanksha, me too, moreover i tried to fix it but now i have no sound, no mic, and no camera nor flash ! i'm desperate
I ordered the glass surface of 720 ... you can separate lcd from the glass? I saw that in the video did not averte. If yes, how do you separate them? thanks
if you read down through all the comments you'll see its not really possible on this phone..
thank you
the sensitive circuit thing u talk about at 10:44 ....i got that thing broken on my 720 and from a while my phone is not charging at all..... is this charging issue is because of ths thing ...if yes...can i get it fixed?
its not for charging its one of the antenna, a new usb flex will probably fix the charging problem
thanks for the reply...hope that usb flex doesnot cost me enough
also my phone have broken side power button flex cable ...due to this side buttons doesnt work except the power button ...does this thing can b responsible for charging issue or is it alone due to usb flex...
sorry for these tons of issues...
Tushar Verma the side key button flex should not affect the charging..
thankss :) will get it repaired soon
It is possible and I'll have to do it on my own as soon as I get the glue and everything. watch?v=MMXA8KyHaFE
How or with what do you paste the touch to the lcd? Is on 19:06 ? What is this ?
this is 'optical adhesive' which is used to bond the glass screen to the display. There are some videos on here showing how it can be done with 'LOCA' which is a liquid that sets with uv light..
Hello kind one. Where can I get a little LED-Flash for my Lumia 720? I get one via online store but without a Led-Flash. :( I Have just a empty plastic hole :(

Hello, my (-) volume button is broken, it acts as if I was pressing it all the time. Should I disassembly my whole phone to fix it??
Arlette Alamilla You just need to remove the display unit from the plastic cover & replace the switch ribbon, should take about 15mins.
what is the strong thin wire to seperate lcd and glass? any suggestions?
its called 'Molybdenum wire' but if you read down through the comments you'll find someone has already tried unsuccessfully..
What should I do?
you should try a new display :)) ,
Denny Aryadi have u fixed it?
if i need to change only the glass should i need to disassemble alll the pieces?
I don't think its possible to replace the glass on this model
kindly load disassembly of Lumia 730 please. Not available in any channel.
Is it possible to separate the digitizer from the screen without breaking it?
I've not tried yet, I hope to have a go in the next few weeks..
Okay, waiting for it =)
I tried to remove the lcd from the digitizer using a heatgun and some fishing line.
The_Kovac Thanks for the info, I was going to try on a broken screen but I might not bother now..
any chance of doing one for a lumia 1020? my 1020's camera stopped focussing after it was dropped. i have a replacement camera module on the way.
