That chunk missing was from your screwdriver prying 😂

I have already replaced the brake pads, and rotors at all four corners on my 2015 Ram. I used cross drilled, and slotted rotors from CBC, which if I remember correctly stands for Canadian Brake Corporation. However I'm not sure, I do know that they were made in Canada, and they have performed flawlessly for almost 100k miles. I would, and have suggested that anyone should purchase them. Plus I replaced the soft brake hoses with stainless braided hoses, and the gains in braking consistancy are insane! Again I would suggest, and have suggested this cheap upgrade to anyone that will listen! God bless you, and keep up the good work!

Did you not pop the hood and open the brake fluid reservoir? I've always been taught you had to do that before compressing the piston.

    • @thewhoa8824
      @thewhoa8824 2 года назад +2

U can do it with two screw drivers too or just compress them like he did in the beginning
He did show how to put the hardware either
      Video was so so!

@thewhoa8824 Still a wise idea to open the reservoir to avoid unnecessary back pressure in the lines, booster, or master cylinder when using outside force to retract the calibers.

Pump the breaks then pop the lid to burp it.

@forrestnome9521 That don't stop excess back pressure from doing potential damage. Why people tend to have issues with master cylinders, boosters, and proportioning valves.

Nice video, but you missed the most important part when the drums get welded/rusted to the hub... impossible to break loose, even with the emerg brake backed off all the way.. You have to break them lose. Penetrating fluid through the bolts helps, but you might need to get some back pressure on the drum/rotor. Best way I found is to get a block of hard wood on the back of the disc between the caliper mounting ears with enough room to hammer in a steel wedge or cold chisel. With enough back pressure, should not take more than a light tap on the face of the drum to break it free.

You just saved me so much cussing and screaming. I thought for sure it wasn't going to come off but found a block of wood and wedged it in there!

Looks like a great product, but you need to lube all hardware that the pads are mounted with and the back of the pad that contacts the calipers and piston. I always lube everything that moves and touches another. This eliminates brake squeal and promotes even pad wear.

I did this swap this afternoon with powerstop rotors and pads. Just an FYI...I didn't have a large flat head for the caliper compression, so i used the dodge "L" shaped tire iron. L It worked perfectly. Thanks for the vids! (Lafayette, LA)

Just wondering about the pads inside the rotors, do you need to adjust those? I'm guessing those are for the e-brake

the one part i needed to see is how you assemble the pads to the bracket and how the clips go in . you did not show that. i can watch any vidio on what you offered. but thank you for showing what you did.

@@thewhoa8824 all 4 are the same on this model. All disc. And that's not exactly true. He doesn't even show the pads being put on the breaks. When you need a visual to confirm they skip that part. It's just him doing stuff and talking but not really showing much of anything viewer's can actually see or follow along with. He tries to explain it step by step but it doesn't really help. anyone can explain how a plane can fly but I'll be damn if more than 10% of the population understand physics. I appreciate the comment. Not sure you understood what the issue was but I found a lot better videos and confirmed what I needed there. If it's your first time with this model you will need to see them put on to make sure they get installed properly. But going by the comments everyone seems to be leaving tips the he either didn't mention or didn't do. I was able to get the info I needed so it's definitely out there just got to find the right one.

The chunk might be from where you had the bar inside to push the cylinder back. I always go flat faced on the cylinder face. Cant hurt them. Should give them a sand and clean when apart too.

What happens if you can’t get the parking break to release? I can’t even see in there to see if if I’m turning that knob.

You missed greasing the slides and clips aswell as the ends of the pads, better than most videos. Also didn't show backing off the parking brake to take off the rear rotor ,then reapplying pressure after you installed .....

Why is it some rear calipers you have to screw them back in I know on my wife's caravan I had to do that in the middle of winter and it was froze up so it was a pain had to buy a whole new caliper and some of you can do just like you did with the screwdriver just push it back in that way.

I would use a c clamp 🗜️. If it's that cold roll it in a shop and warm them up. U can let the car run for a bit it will heat up

Does the braket have to come off in order to change pads? On my caliper is a 13mm and appears to have nut on the inside of the boot area. 18 ram 1500

The bracket only needs to come off to replace the rotor. Not necessary for just the pads.
